Bellissima rassegna di romanze. Notare come nelle registrazioni si nota il primo Caruso dal timbro voluttuoso, dalla dolcissima mezza voce e dall'impasto vellutato, mentre dopo il 1909 subendo un'intervento alla laringe il timbro si ampliò con risonanze eccezionali per un tenore, quindi aumentò il vigore del suono pur mantenendo l'estensione e lo slancio negli acuti. Aveva un mezzoforte baritonale con sfumature e lievità di espressione incredibili. Dopo il 1914 la gamma si era arricchita ma lo sforzo per sostenere i suoni eccezionalmente ampi mantenendo lo squillo ebbero deleterie conseguenze, non tanto nella voce ma nel suo apparato respiratorio-polmonare portandolo a morte prematura. Comunque nessuno ebbe una voce così completa, squillante e modulabile come lui !!!

He didn't need a microphone. I can imagine if he had one he would really overpower the audience. The voices today sound thin even enhanced by a microphone. He had a depth to his voice that no one else has.

There is audience clapping at the end of the 3ed song I believe, as though it's been edited in.
