Hey guys, Josh here from Ensar Oud. Just to clarify there were two variations of Oud Yusuf One which was a spray parfum. Called Oud Yusuf Parfum. This contained an oud oil called Oud Yusuf but also a number of other precious aromatics. The perfume was built upon the profile of the pure oud oil. Apricot, citrus, honey like nuances etc. The other variation was a pure Oud oil called Oud Yusuf. Thank you for the review ❤

Speaking of Oud Noir...exclusively use it for layering now. Never feels like a complete fragrance to me anymore. But smelling oud oils a great way to gain perspective on the concept of notes. Just like musical notes, they can be played by any instrument, including the voice. Interesting that many reviewers still seem to refer to note listings as ingredient lists. The imagination is a wonderful thing. ✨

Nicely done Rams ,and as to trying to decipher Ensar’s blurbs ,well scholars well versed in decrypting ancient script would pull out their hair lol.However I do have a 30 ml bottle of Oud Yusuf bought early in 2021 I believe,and I kinda feel like yourself,it definitely befuddles me when I do decide to have a spritz, I really do want to be overwhelmed by its complexity and The Ensar blurb ,but it really doesn’t do it for me,that said I appreciate it and happy I have it but it’s way down on my list of Ouds to want to wear 😮. Cheers Rams appreciate this in-depth review not an easy task for sure ✌️🙏👍

Awesome review as usual Rams…From the Ensars I’ve tried, he doesn’t like to use very animalic ouds….he definitely uses a whole lot More concentration of oils in his parfums…..some of his creations has concentration of 70% or more

Try Tigerwood Royale by Ensar Oud. One of the most animalic & brilliant Oud composition as per my experience!

It isn’t just the oud oil Bro there are many notes listed. Like you said there os definitely osmanthus in it for example. You should definitely try Iris ghalia(V1 or V4) . For me one of his best works. Or the Jamaican ambergris Attar. Just superb.

i think youve confused the oud oil with the pure parfum, which is a fragrance composition based around oud yusuf but contains other notes, not just the oud oil diluted in alcohol

I also thought the PP is just the oil plus alcohol. Never heard of added notes in the PP and it smells just like the attar just not as dense. But i might be mistaken! Cheers

I think you might be correct... i had a small sample of 'EO oud Yusuf' a few years ago, and I remember it being a oud / apricot / rose floral perfume.

@@Gstinkerterthe pp is most definitely not the oil + alcohol, its pretty obvious its a perfume composition meant to highlight and exalt certain facets of the oud oil in the same way kinam rouge pp is not kinam rouge oud oil diluted in alcohol

What is confusing is if you read his website and even parfumo only lists one note for the pure parfum... Thai Oud ... very confusing indeed

​@@RamseytheRam his website makes no mention of a clear note listing, nor does it claim to be only oud yusuf oud oil diluted in alcohol and it says that other notes were used to supplement the oud. And parfumo wouldn't know what went into it, unless you're telling me ensar himself put in the notes on that website? It's the same deal with his other spray perfumes named after oud oils, you're not telling me kinam rouge pp is just kinam rouge diluted? Or kyara ltd is kyara ltd diluted lol. It's not economically feasible for him to be diluting oud oils like these to make sprays, nor would it turn out smelling very good. Common sense alone makes it clear its a perfume composition.

I've sampled a few drops of 'EO oud yusaf' and remember it being a composition perfume.... especially because I don't buy ouds on their own, no matter how special and rare they are. It's thrown me, so i just checked on the Ensar write up and it does say... 'the auxiliary aromatics and botanicals all serve to serenade the star of the show: Oud. Doesn't help ensar talks mostly in riddles and that both oud yusaf's are called the same thing... from what I gather his own compositions are always 'EO' whether it's attar, pure parfum or edp.

Theres oud yusuf the oud oil (not an attar), and oud yusuf the perfume composition, which comes in spray form in either pure parfum or edp. I agree it's certainly unclear the way he chooses to name his perfumes, but it's pretty obvious when you smell the spray that it's not just diluted oud oil, the same way it's pretty obvious when you smell the oud oil that it's not an attar with added notes, it's just a very nice trat oud.

@@RamseytheRam yes because ensar doesn't publicly list down the notes normally, not very transparent about it. But it's plainly obvious from smelling it that it's not simply a diluted thai oud oil, and there are other auxiliary notes like floral accords meant to accentuate certain nuances that the oud oil possesses. I think even you could tell it wasn't just oud, in the video you mentioned multiple times it came across like a composition to you right? If you've smelt the oud oil neat you'd know it isn't merely oud yusuf, doubly so if you know that it isn't quite as simple as diluting an oud in alcohol to create something like oud yusuf pp. Besides, it would be a waste of good oud oil and not very economically feasible to do for someone as shrewd a businessman as Ensar.

@@RamseytheRam Parfumo have it wrong... they are showing the wrong bottle (pure parfum) while describing the pure oud oil and then Fragrantica also have it wrong the other way around, showing the pure oud oil bottle but describing the pure parfum perfume 🤦‍♂️..... From Ensar's own site there are two archived write-ups: yusaf pure oud oil and yusaf pure parfum perfume...The pure parfum write-up also says from previously said above: "This exclusive edition jams lilacally apricot, along with rose and a gourmand chef favourite spices into a bottle of what must be one of the most beautiful perfumes' P.S Not trying to be a smart-ass, far from it.. just thought you'd want it correct for your reference reviews you're compiling here 👍

Didn‘t last so long this ethical way of harvesting 😂 The yousuf forest got cut down as ensar told in a video because the owner needed quick money 😂 As ensar describes it the barnyardy smell of oud comes from the fermantation of the oud dust before destillating it. So usually oud should never smell fecal if you do it right.
