Totally agree with your take on mysore being held in almost mythical aura...the French houses used it over the decades past and so our parents and grandparents smelled mysore and these classic perfumes of old use mysore... but they used it because thats what was available... there are other types of sandalwood that are beautiful too🌴

@@sheikhehab1550 I just got my Oud Extraordinaire today, and you are so right! Not only is it beautiful but it unhinges you from worldly stress and mind chatter. Can't wait till you post the second part to continue your reaction. A captivating oud that I wonder how time will age it... On the subject of sandalwood, I am mesmerized by Musk 84 (Musk infusion in Mysore)... It really is a treasure.

Very interesting. As a perfume ingredient i totally agree that all these different sandalwood oils have different functions in a composition. I think those of us that have grown up smelling Mysore sandalwood use it almost like a reference point or a benchmark and hence the bias. I have an African sandalwood oil sample and to me it does not smell like sandalwood at all. It has its own individual character. I guess i need to get some more varieties and try them out.

Wonderful video! I have two .15 samples of Santal Sultan. I keep them tucked away, hidden. On bad days I take out a small vial of this and apply a tiny amount to my arm. Its calms and restores me. My words are inadequate in describing its restorative properties: a true '3-D' experience. Take care and all the best!

10:50 so in that case wouldn't glass be the best approach to distill so as not add any extra smell to the oil one is distilling

Sure . Let be steel , copper , or even earthen pot , cooking in each one of them will give different taste and flavour of the same item . In my home when we make a special type of khadi (not the regular yellow one )( curd and other items boiled like curry) eaten with rice , in that when it is cooking my mom puts a long iron spoon in it for some time for the khadi to get some diffrent taste . And it definitely has that difference because of that iron spoon .

“Cheating on oud with sandalwood?” “No a love of aromatics is a polygamist’s existence!” Dying hahahahaha. Speaking of which do you think Palo Santo suffers from a lack of transparency? I have very little control over the quality of it and the product appears to need someone like you to bring clarity to the murky nature of it. Mysore sandalwood I wish I could smell it... time to order some. The way you explain the complexity of fragrance is unparalleled thanks for another incredible video. I find myself checking KZbin to see if there is a new video every couple of days... let’s hope this video series goes on in perpetuity.

Ahmed Farhan Wa alaikum as salam wa rahmatu Llahi wa barakatuh brother Ahmed. Mysore sandalwood is superior to all other varieties of sandal much like Assam agarwood is superior to other species of agar. Bottom line: it goes back to your subjective preference. ✊🏻

Salam alayk gentlemen. The two of you are like a train that never stops. I'm a passenger on board who hopes to stop only where the train stops. I understand your point about Mysore sandalwood and I concur. I have a question regarding distillation. When you distill Oud Yusuf for example, and then you distill Oud Extraordinaire, doesn't this affect the aroma of the second oud? I'm guessing that the same distiller is used. Even after washing it, wouldn't the scent be altered? Secondly, how do you wash the distiller? I'm very curious about these other processes that one may not necessarily know about. I have to make a trip to Jordan to spend time with you, Sheikh Ehab and Adam. I will come someday inshaAllah. Sidi Ensar, I love the calligraphy. Haha, I see you have Dior Homme Intense and some Frederick Malles'.

Sandalwood is subtle, warm, buttery and understated. It`s a gentle persons perfume. It`s a friend and never ever annoying. Never overwhelming. And it`s been proven that it`s chemical composition shares molecules found in healthy human sweat. For this reason, some considered Sandalwoods something of an aphrodisiac. I believe that Mysore is very good. However, there is a problem with sourcing materials from India. Lot`s of politics, a lot of back scratching, lot`s of dilutions and sometimes 100% fakes out there. Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood comes from good people - reliable people, and is more consistent and (IMHO) is equally good as Mysore. I use Hawaiian sandalwood in my homemade perfume creations. *(not trying to compete, I don`t have access to amazing oud`s like you guys!!!! :-)

@@EnsarOud You considered the Congan Sandalwood the 'next best thing, no not the next best thing but I'd place it above Papua, to me it's actually superior'. I do understand these different Sandalwood's have their own league. It's just about aesthetic perception and not about scent profile or even genus.
@EnsarOud
@EnsarOud 6 жыл бұрын
MrKabeer6333 So long as the “I consider” is there it’s all good. The point is, there is no ‘objective’ best. I consider New Guinea gyrinops to be superior to many strains if agarwood, but is it in reality? Trees are trees. Just like the human races. There is no objectively ‘superior race’. Just cultural bias and stereotypes. 😊
