I thought Yogg Saron and Algalon were pretty crappy end bosses compared to Ragnaros (latter version) and lich king. They were amazing end bosses and that's what you wait for. Deathwing could have been so good but it was so buggy... platform jumping deaths ... fffffuuuuuuuuuuu

After Naxx it was such a shock to raid Ulduar. Was the turning point for making heroic and normal raids. I think ICC was better with heroic and normal, but it was wow's best era and everyone complained at the time.

People rememeber only good things, it is natural brain attribute. Like you remember your high scool era for example ;-) But I would not say 80% ppl just complain. You might get that impression from going to WOW forums - because nobody would go to forum and say - Hey Blizzard, I really like your game, it is cool and aI like to play it. You go to forum typically if you have some complains or issues :)

This was so much fun. We spent 4-5 days on that boss. Every day we got to a new phase without deaths. It was a grueling process, which is why Aryu (who usually is super silent) went full crazy and started yelling gibberish (french) at the end.

this came from a time when raiding was so much better. there was no streaming virtually no one was earning mega bucks it was just pure competitiveness and love for the game. it also helps that this is hands down one of the most fun/nervewracking fights to play as a healer. respect ensidia!

When they first made Wild Growth it had no timer, i went into a raid with the best guild on a server in blues in Naxx(second one) and had 50% of the healing for the entire raid. Their druid all in naxx epics was like 'all he is doing is spamming wild growth' and they were like 'why don't you do that???'

Many years later I still feel like this was one of the most challenging fights ever, and also one of the most enjoyable, especially from a healing point of view. I killed both 10 and 25- man versions of the fight pre-nerf

Pre nerf this fight was just to god damn difficult for spike damage on the tanks, I also loved the trash in Mimrons Spark of the Imagination I mean who doesn't like trash that causes more wipes than most flex/normal raids will ever experience in a single run (Still rock my Champion of Ulduar title, missed Conqueror of Ulduar by Thorim >.

I still remember the OMFG AWESOME reaction of this moment in ventrilo when we saw this for the 1st time, as we were as well progressing in this fight at the moment this video was released and we knew the feeling of getting trapped in the fire all too well ^^ Eventually I got my Ulduar Realm 1st , and I got the 2nd Mimiron's head of the server (lucky roll ftw). Good times.

Diferent patch and client, they were discovering the boss and playing as it goes. Woltk is a solved game and people min max alot. To see them do good dmg watch the algalon video which is more accurate.

@@Shyzenth as far as patch balancing you're 100 percent correct . These folks almost certainly were min maxing using Sims like I believe simulcraft was popular back then as well as forums like EJ. I really do believe a large part of it is that players today are able to execute thier min maxed rotations better after having 10 plus years of practice in the game. Knowing is half the battle even if you have all the answers to the test you still gotta execute it perfectly.

Also I'm seeing people in pre raid BiS dungeon gear out damage thier Algalon dps and I don't think the patch balancing is making anywhere near 2 phases of gear differenc. Just gotta face it man. People sucked back then. Also it's not like the patch changes were all buffs, this isn't Diablo, some classes would have performed better on patch 3.1 then they do on 3.4

@@mikeleder66 people are killing bosses with 1 min logs, ofc numbers are gonna be really high with cds up and fast kills, put them in a 6 minute fight and watch the dmg come down, which in ulduar there will be plenty of 6m+ fights. When classic guilds clear Ulduar first week go to their logs and compare the numbers to those in these first kills, you will see the diferences won't be big.

Doesn't matter how many M+15/20s i do. For me this is the most tense fight i've ever done in WoW. 10+ minutes of non stop focus, and with the fact that as a healer your attention needs to be split between raid frames and what goes on in the room... it's borderline a trance state what happens during it. Algalon can sort of do the same thing, but i always found it to be less stressful in a way, because 1 mistake would cause a wipe and that was it, unlike Mimiron H mode, where mistakes would cause a heavy set back that the group could fix slowly but steadily, thus creating a constant train of unforeseen events that you'd constantly try to manage during the entire duration.

I've done both when they were in progression rather than farm, equal amounts of frustration on both, possibly a little less on Firefighter, due to the fire being far less troubling and the many ways the conveyer belt in seigecrafter can be handled and needed many attempts at testing.
