At first I wasn't very impressed with this song, but after a few more listens now I really like it, it is pretty catchy. For Ensiferum albums between the first and this one timewise, I love "From Afar", and obviously "Iron", their second album, which is also the last album with Jari Mäenpää as lead singer before left the band.

Main riff of an Alestorm song, death metal vocals paired with clean vocals that at some points seemed to channel Timo Tollki with Stratovarius. Not necessarily a deep song, but quite a bit of fun.

Not a new sound, but I think you're right. I'm sure they can create a very nice atmosphere during live gigs. This kind of metal always reminds me of my trip to Ireland. Good memories of nice pubs with live folk music.

Way back, I bought Ensiferum's album 'Victory Songs'. This was after A&P reacted to 'Victory Song' - the title track. To date, it's the only Ensiferum album I own but in my humble opinion it's a masterpiece - serious, grim, emotional, inspiring, stirring and beautifully crafted. I'm almost afraid to buy any more of their albums in case they don't live up to this one. 'Victory Song' itself is amazing with one of the verses sung in Finnish. This one verse always makes me tear up, honestly. There was an AMV (amateur made vid) here on KZbin where the song, fittingly, was matched up with scenes from the film 300. Speaking of emotional, the last minute of the song has one heart wrenching instrument playing - just beautiful. Please, please react to it Hedgy.

Hedgy says a joke. Me in my head: "da bum tsss" awkward silence interrupted by someone clearing his throat. Keep it up Hegdy!

In my opinion they shifted to more mainstream with this album. It even got a „cheesy“ sound... I like Jens Bogren- he did an amazing job with the new album of Amorphis but now every metalband wants to work with him and you can hear his influence in the mixing/mastering; a very clear and clean sound... for ensiferum it should be a more rough and dirty sound. only my humble opinion 😅☺️

All I could hear was Oh! Majinai from Babymetal and Joakim Brodén, easily my least favorite Babymetal song. 😑
