This is the first song I'm hearing from this band and I gotta say I'm impressed. Definitely see a few Enslaved albums in my future.

"Dei for ifra nord Mot ei anna tid Bak låg brende ord Framfor dei ei ny strid Dei såg såg stormar i det fjerne Men haldt fram og beint Inn mot jordas kjerne Frå tidleg mot seint" I see a darkness overwhelming I see that there is no light for me I don’t care if it leaves me blind I don’t care if I’m left behind I see a white horse’s head I see it’s dead stare fixed at me I do not fear its eyes Curse myself, return it twice I see walls to high to climb I see nothing on the other side I should have roamed another space I should have been another place "Dei daue gror opp av havet og ropar så sårt mot land. Dei ropar bak alle skuter, som kavar seg tungt forbi" I am among ghosts when I should rest I cannot tell the worlds apart I do not heed the words they say There is no dream of another day I hear a silence, deafening Drowning the deserts, that is my destiny I no longer wish to see The threads they’ve spun for me. "Dei for ifra nord Mot ei anna tid Bak låg brende ord Framfor dei ei ny strid Dei såg såg stormar i det fjerne Men haldt fram og beint Inn mot jordas kjerne Frå tidleg mot seint"

They might be a tad nationalist or tribal, as in "Our People are so awesome," but no more so than any other nation. It's a nostalgic celebration of past achievements.

I'm part black and I love Enslaved. They may be a little "nationalist" in that they are proud Norse, but that's it. And being a white person with nationalist tendencies in Europe is A LOT different from being a white person with nationalistic tendencies in the US. In Norway they actually have a blood connection to their land that goes back thousands of years, just as the great African people have to their lands and the Native Americans have to theirs. A proud Norwegian singing about a pure, ancient time Norway is just a Native person celebrating their heritage and their ancestors. Unlike America, Norway is not an immigrant country, so the rules are completely different.

rum runner Well said! There is nothing wrong with loving your home and be proud of where you live as long as it doesn't spill into an unhealthy form of "proud". Loving your country doesn't mean you hate everyone else. I compared it to loving your spouse. You can love your spouse and be proud of him/her, that doesn't mean you hate other people.
