Hi Matthew -- That is a nice stand for sure, and it was fun to get your impression on the other stands too. I have a couple of them...the stand with the two rods holding it together was my first stand, and it was rather rough and shakey. I went over it with some fine sandpaper and steel wool to take the rough edges off. It smoothed off rather well, and the sandpapered edges showed the wood underneath a little...kind of an antique effect that I liked, so I left it. Then I glued the pieces all together, and it turned into a pretty solid stand. I have found a lot of these wooden items from Amazon or wherever can be made to look a lot better with a little hand work. I also have one of the very nice Hanwei stands. I think mine is slightly different, and I bought it long enough ago that it was considerably cheaper. All it needed was some furniture polish, and it's a real showpiece...never fails to impress. Anyhow, thanks for the video...it was more interesting than I expected... ; }

You likely have both tools and skill to get it done. Plus you likely need something I have, lots of rack.

That is one of the most pleasant looking sword stand I've seen...very handsome and versatile...great share Matt...and valid points in cost factor of making your own, unless ofcourse if one was a wood craftsman, than it's a pride thing... Definitely more expensive but you can see the quality, I may review some sword stands I picked up from Amazon that are pretty cool for the money

Great looking stand! I love that the bold wood grain is featured. I have been looking for a stand like this to complement the earthy look of my Dragon King Autumn Leaf Katana. I ended up getting a stand on Amazon, it's nice, but the stand you are featuring would be perfect!

A thought about something not swords but related. I have a few shields and bucklers to go with my collection of blades I find that large plate holders or stand works well. You can find them at most place that see house wares or china. For the non round shields I find a simple hardwood thin plank with a keyhole fro the bottom point of the shield placed across the two legs gives you the same effect as a round shield edge.

Hey Jensen, I could do a quick Google search myself but I’m wondering do you know of any upright sword stands? Is it even a thing? Or s there a reason why they don’t exist maybe it would harm the sword? Thanks man. Love these posts.

I have seen them done a few ways. There are such things but they are not very popular.

@@Matthew_Jensen I thought so… i have a few swords, amongst them is a single katana and would like to display it but I lack the horizontal space so I was thinking maybe vertical? I have a tall glass display case and I’m thinking it may just fit… which brought me to my query… I guess a vertical stand would only hold the whole sword and not both parts once the sword is unsheathed… I need a new house lol.

@@Matthew_Jensen oh wait, I’ve just made it to the end of the vid, did I just see a glimpse of an upright stand? But that’s wall mounted right?

Those are similar. This is how vertical stands for Japanese swords tend to look like this - www.amazon.com/FOXSMZZ-Vertical-Samurai-Katana-Display/dp/B07R4YLSFZ

Nice stands. I feel this is the kind of video that called for a few beers. Don't know how much you actually like them bereft the ability to gauge aesthetics using descriptors like " bitchin' "
