i assume you liked the shadowdancer hira zukuri much better than this? and it seemed to have performed better also?
@Matthew_Jensen21 сағат бұрын
They are very different swords but the short answer is yes. The ShadowDancer Hira was light and fun to move around. It was more for a person practicing JSA looking for something fast and durable. The S05 is a collector blade or for a person looking for something unique and more traditionally made.

Such a beautiful sword and in my favorite type. At first I was like yess I love his swords, then I realized I was following his "brother" Damien, who also makes beautiful swords.

I'd probably pick a large kukri to be honest. They are very durable, require low maintainance (especially with kydex sheath and micarta handle like at kailash blades) and are very durable, useful for chopping wood, camping tasks and also very powerful cutters and choppers. Otherwise like you said zombie tools would be the other option. Great video keep up the good work!

Lawn chair! Thats brilliant!

Yeah, if they are advertising like this it's a probably cranked out on a CNC machine and that is where the flaws come from. I would like to see what the blade finish looks like after a but of sanding.

My opinion is that ROM makes glorified gas station katana. They have a lot of glitz and glitter, but they are just lower grade Longquan parts bin swords. I would say that the value comes into play if you can get one for a lower cost, but over 300 isn't a lower cost.

This was a very enjoyable video and I now feel that this gentleman is a really cool down to earth person. Plus they have pets. Definitely someone I would buy a sword from in the future if I had the extra scratch

The habaki is very similar to the Marto Highlander swords which is why I think gives it that cheap feeling and doesn’t look right on a sword like this

Very nice overview! That’s quite the striking theme that they have put together, and it is a little funny that they translated ebi (エビ) into lobster instead of shrimp, which is exactly what they executed 😂 That plastic is no joke! Not all plastic targets are made equal.

It's not a Japanese katana, but it looks convincing enough to be quite satisfying.

Agreed, on its own, i found value in the build, the intent, the feel, look and performance, on normal targets, sharpness and toughness stood up well, and on hard wood vines, it also stood strong with no edge damaging...that hard plastic seems like an edge killer...a good value for purchasing, while keeping an open mind as you said with others like Ryan, SD. ect. well done Sir.

That Habaki looks heinous. It looks like brass-plated pot metal.

Someone beat me to it in the comments. Ebi is shrimp (Prawns in Aus). Great review though, I'm a tad shocked at the damage from the lawn chairs.

1:50 I promise you they ARE pulled from the exact same parts bin. Their words/text.... (Like any other humans) are LIES... Believing otherwise is naive. So I was a bit disappointed when you said you wouldnt destruction test this blade. Bc its ALL I watch these videos for. I want to see if they deliver the respective quality blades they claim. Do they bend? do they break? how soon/easy do they break? Is it even a 1060, or 1095 or whatever as claimed etc. No difference between a stores 100dollar swords and their 500dollar swords. You need a WAY higher difference in price shift before you're getting something (technically) better. Those last 400 dollars, gives, tighter wrap, fittings cared for and actually "fitted". But thats it. But Saya is the same cheap unfitted mass produced crap. Blade is the same as the cheap swords. I want to see this sword being broken.... There is literally no point otherwise in me watching these vidoes. I can see the exact same in your video than I can on their website. Only the "lies" (not saying YOU are lying) im saying the process is lying... And jsut bc something says T10, doesnt mean I trust it to actually BE T10.... Which again, is why I want to see the swords being tested/proven. None of these swordsmiths are in this for their pride nor honour. They ALL in it for the money and fame, meaning they are automatically proven untrustworthy. Hence, we need you!
@GrandmasterHobbyist4 күн бұрын
understandable, but if youre buying from a reputable brand their products are being testing and reviewed all the time by many people so its safe to assume it is what they say it is as far as the steel.
@DK_19834 күн бұрын
@ have you seen his other videos? Lots of reputable Smiths whos swords just go pling! Or chip badly (when the steel they claim to use shouldnt). So my other point is also quality control. Clearly these blades were never stresstested, definitely not destruction tested, bc the blades are still undamaged and unbroken. So I would love to see a Smiths work consistently, across models, stand up to somewhat practical abuse. Ofc they all fail at some point. But as we see, most of blades these days fail VERY early… Too early imho. So its not only about the integrity of the Smith. Its also about his level of skill. Which 98% of Smiths are overestimating their on skill level far to High. One lucky/durable blade doesnt meant you’re good Im my book. I want to see you make a thousand of the same blade and they are all the exact same durability. Consistency. And we can only see how good someones work is when its being truly tested.

The tsuka shaping on mine i was really impressed with. Felt great in the hand, was nimble and agile, and razor sharp.
@SpaceGhost1824 күн бұрын
I like that theyre putting the effort into giving the sword its own theme. One of my favorite things to see. I have the korudo shadou from them, very simllar blade and hamon. Came razor sharp (one of the sharpest edges ive gotten on a production katana) and the fit and finish was good for the price. I like that they also have a lot of different options for hamon styles on their custom slider, quite a few I havent seen elsewhere for the price. I think theyre doing great budget cutters for a great price.

Bought a kingfisher made by Condor on the bay... Description and pictures both of you like a brand new one still in the packaging someone so forth... It came in and yes it was in the packaging but I already had some kind of corrosion on it and was rough around the edges and some other ways and I was really pissed... Try to get my money back or partial refund and no dice... Black sword after me giving it not a very nice review or rather first impression video sat in a corner for like 2 years for a year or so. At some point in my journey of picking back up bottle cutting I also ended up with an overabundance of cardboard boxes and did not want to dull some of my better swords destroying the boxes when I was done with them so I dragged out that old kingfisher.. I've done an apology video sense but even though that sword didn't come in and pristine condition and it was very blemished no sold as new and not blemished it actually has become one of my favorite swords to cut with. Hopefully in the near future will be doing a review revisited video about it and give it some justice.

This is very cool and it's good to know that they can also do nice for less than $200... My concern is how quickly you said it rusts. I have several carbon steel blades now mind you I usually keep a fine coat of oil on them but none of them have rusted severely or significantly show me a kitchen tool what should be cap to fairly clean for use Timmy is kind of a health concern... I know it's a carbon steel but it is interesting to hear how quickly that that knife is rusting perhaps they can find a way to mitigate that in the future that sounds like to make a pretty cool product

I feel that you're asking for review samples as long as you are transparent about it and give an honest review whether you're allowed to keep the sword or not is the right way to do it. Don't ask for a review sample and not give an honest opinion about her or not be transparent about it. I also feel like there's nothing wrong with asking as long as you asked politely because there are some of us out there that if we didn't ask we would never get sent review samples because we don't have a lot of subscribers as I say a closed mouth doesn't get fed. That being said no company or private Smith or anyone else for that matter is obligated to send you a review sample. If they decide to do so along with you guys are both clear on your intentions than great. Don't however run a Smith or a company or what have you under the ground if they decide not to send you free review samples will there be a few just try out or to keep... They don't have to and you are not entitled to their product. Be honest, be polite, be respectful

So when I first moved into my current house some of my weaponry wouldn't fit in the bags p and whatnot but mind you must have more decorative but that's also in the neighbor started asking questions... Not too long after getting settled in I made it a point to go outside and view of my neighbors and start cleaning various guns and swords. And then they found out I was blind for reference I'm not totally blind.. No one gave me any crap other than one drunk neighbor what's the time I say some really idiotic things because drunkenness and ignorance but I became pretty close with most of my neighbors two of them have become very good friends of mine and have even seen me in the last few recent years bottle cutting in the yard and even sometimes ass if their kids can watch at a safe distance.
@Blindy_Sama8 күн бұрын
As someone who is a blind swordsman and I'm using the term swordsman very loosely add mostly blind far past being legally blind but not totally blind I actually don't have a zatoichi sword in my collection. I have handled and played with the less expensive version from hanwei and it cuts really well for what it is and is a fun blade. There have also become a lot more blind swordsman type characters and lots of other media but I will say a lot of them are inspired by zatoichi. There's also a blind gunslinger add I believe some movies based on that character as well. Cool stuff keep up the good work.
