Irrespective of the point of origin, passengers arriving on all flights disembark from the Arrivals Level of the Main Terminal Building. Once off the aircraft, proceed to the terminal and follow the airport signage directing you to the "Baggage Claim".

The Passport Control process is pretty straight forward, Hellenic Police officers verify travel document authenticity using national and international databases. No biometric fingerprint or facial recognition at the counter.
If you are an EU citizen traveling within the Schengen zone, bypass Passport Control, but ensure you carry a valid document (passport or ID card) as per national regulations of Schengen states to establish your identity.
There are two flows for Passport Control: "European Union-EU Passports or ID Holders" and "Non-EU Passport Holders."
Biometric passport holders can use the EU "e-Passport" control points, automatic self-service border checkpoints, if they are nationals of EU countries, EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), or Switzerland and are over 12 years old. No prior registration is needed.
Instructions at each e-gate facilitate smooth passage. If this doesn't apply or you prefer a manual check, staffed counters are available at Passport Control. To expedite the process, remove hats and sunglasses and have your passport open at the photo page.
Immigration officials may request additional documents like a letter of invitation, proof of booked accommodations, or evidence of arranged onward/return transportation.

The Airport is around 33 kilometers to central Athens. You can go to the city or the port of Piraeus through the Metro, bus, taxi, e-hailing service, car rental. The designated Taxi waiting area is at Exit 3 on the Arrivals Level. The flat rate for taxis is €40 during the daytime and €55 at night.
