What stresses me out is that I have a Trusted Traveler card--for 10 years--- and still I have to take the computer out of its' case; explain to them that those cylindrical "things" they see on the screen are photography lenses; Remove my shoes; watch; belt; just as I did before I signed up for the TT program. They want to start grabbing at my items (which will get my dander up) trying to look inside. I keep my roll bag of personal items locked; my camera roll on bag locked and they start grabbing and that's when I swat their hands away and tell them I will open it so you can look. Unlock, unzip, lay the bag open all the while asking what they are looking for so I can inform them what it is, and where it is in the bag without having to stand there blocking the customers behind me to re-pack the bag. It seems to me that TSA is its' own entity, and has NO oversight at all. In Charleston, SC once and beeped twice when going through the scan machine. Asked the agent what the item looked like that concerned him and he just said, go through again. I grabbed the screen, turned it around so I could see it and there was the PERFECT outline of my crucifix on its' chain. Unbuttoned my shirt, showed him and I was good to go.

Your travel tips have been so helpful, especially on my long haul flights. I just shared your KZbin with a friend “ She’s a pilots wife” 😂 She immediately ordered the National Park packing cubes! I love mine so much I might order a second set just for my husband. I’ve started putting them straight in the dresser at the hotel we’re staying at. It keeps my smaller items..socks, undies, bras, Pj’s & tops together.😊

I have gotten to the gate early, and have been sitting there reading a book or fiddling with my phone. When it's time to board, I put away my stuff, and look up to find that they have changed the departure gate of the flight and NEVER made an announcement at the gate. This has happened to me more than once, and one of the times they had moved it to a totally different concourse!! Why do they do that??? They should ALWAYS make an announcement AT THE GATE (not just to the main corridors of the airport, because many times when you're sitting at the gate, you can't hear the announcements being made over the airport loudspeakers in the terminal aisles.) Additionally, you've already checked the departure board before you got to the gate, and it was the correct one when you got there. So aggravating!
@itllbesuzanarchy8 ай бұрын
This happened to my son and I last summer. We ended up getting through TSA so easily, we had time to sit down and order breakfast at a restaurant in the airport. I checked the big Departures board after we were done eating to make sure the plane was still on time and the gate hadn't changed. We had at least 90 minutes to boarding at that point. I kept checking the board because no one was showing up at the gate. Finally, it was past boarding time and some agents showed up at the gate, and of course I was informed the gate had changed and the plane had already left. We ended up having to go to the customer service desk and the first thing he asked was whether I had checked the app (like it was MY fault I was a big dumb idiot who trusted the information on the airport's Departure boards)! 🥴 I told him no, because I expect the Departures board to be updated and accurate. ☹️ We had to take two different flights to get to our destination (and our original flight was nonstop). The first flight was delayed so we had to run to the next gate to get our connecting flight in time and barely got seats. I will always download the airline's app and not trust the departure boards and gate boards anymore. ☹️

Yes, that happened to my husband and me at the Atlanta airport. We initially went to the correct gate, and sat there for awhile. Then I checked the Delta app, and the gate for our flight had been changed, to another section of the airport! We had to walk far to get to the train, which took us to the new section. In the new section, I was able to catch one of the electric carts to get to the gate. I’m in my sixties and can no longer walk quickly. I’m going to start requesting wheelchair assistance to get to my gate for future flights. At my home airport (FLL) I don’t need that, as the walk isn’t terribly long, but at airports with longer concourses, like Newark, Atlanta, Denver and Miami, I need some help!

How odd that people would comment negatively about you stating you are a pilots wife. When I first found your videos and heard that I knew immediately that meant 1) you travel A LOT and 2) you travel stand-by almost exclusively. That means you have experience flying and you have to pack super light all the time. That is a lot of information to give a viewer by just stating you are a pilots wife.

Not sure if it would help, but I'm UK based and disabled. When you book your flights if it's with a travel agent specify that you need passenger assistance at both airports for both journeys. If booked through a site it tends sometimes there is an option to tick for assistance or a phone number to book to request assistance. I was also advised by Cardiff Airport (they were so amazingly helpful with my pre flight questions) to take a copy of my repeat prescriptions with me and ensure that my tablets were in their packaging. Although a small airport, it helped me so much with my anxiety. Thank you Laurie for your guidance as always. Many blessings.

I agree that you shouldn't joke or involve TSA agents in long conversations, but I do like to give each one...if possible...a genuine smile and a "Hi, how are you?" or "Have a great day!". At the very least, a "Thank you" wth that smile can make their day. I can only assume what kind of individuals they have to deal with everyday. I know some TSA staff are all business or not particularly outgoing but I found most to be friendly and engaging while being professional.

In April 2020, I was flying out to see my son and carrying a portable sewing machine through TSA. This was right after the lockdown started, and of course everyone was little on edge. And of course I got pulled out of the security line so they could ask about my unusual carry on item. The agent asked me, "Does it have any sharp parts?" and I said, "Well yes, it is a sewing machine." I told her I intended to make Covid masks with it, and she started telling me how she wanted to make some, too, and we chatted for a couple of minutes and she waved me on through. It rarely happens because they are so busy, but this one time the TSA agent was really nice and it kind of made my day.

My tip is to watch the people in front of you to see what they are doing. Not all airports have the same equipment. In some you do not have to take off your shoes. In some you do not need to remove your laptop from your carry-on. In some you put your carry-on into a bin and not directly on the belt. Just 2 weeks ago I asked the TSA officer how old you have to be to NOT take off your shoes. His answer was 75.

I have a tip to share, which is a variation of your drying products out to make more space in the liquids bag. Cut up a sponge into small squares and saturate each square with dishwashing liquid. The squares will take a couple of days to dry out. Once dried, they are great for travelers who may need a small amount of dishwashing liquid each day for dishes, medical equipment or general use. Thank you I needed this flying out tomorrow from DCA to MIA and some airports just tell you not to take nothing out of your bag. I’m curious to know how it will go tomorrow! Thanks

They are narrow-minded people who complain about you repeating you're a pilot's wife, etc in every video. They do not realize that any of your videos can be the first video watched by a new-comer. I hope they don't bother you too much. I so enjoy hearing it every time and seeing your family's photo in the car with your son covering his eyes. Keep up the great work!

I can't imagine why anyone would make ugly comments! Not every tip is helpful for every person, but I always get something out of your videos.

I’m sorry to hear that anyone would make a negative comment about your being a pilots wife. I think it gives legitimacy to a lot of your suggestions and advice. I have learned a lot from you in the last year or so that has definitely made me a better traveller.

Dear Laurie, Thank you. I just flew to Phoenix for March Madness.....and boy did your trips come in handy! Especially for the extra layover! Thank you. My only suggestion is = because you have so MANY ( and they are great) pick a couple per trip to start using. Easier to manage a new routine. Great travels.

Thank you for sharing so many great videos. My husband and I flew this past weekend. Our experience was nothing was taken out of our carry on bags. They did not look at our liquids bag at all. We tried to carry on our bags and they ended up being stowed away from us and one was "pink tagged". Since we had to wait for our bags once we got there, we chose to check them on the way home. We had first class sky priority so our bags came out first. We took very little with us and have loved having very little to put away once we are home. You really helped us prepare, thank you so much
