Not an everyday player, Who cares the single most valuable player during that whole 90’s Yankee run hands down!! U ask any smart baseball player back then if they could have 1 of our players they all pick Mo. not saying he was the best player in any sport in his era but I don’t think it can be disputed that he was statistically the most successful, he did his job better than anyone in any other sport did theirs

I’d have to say Tiger is a great retort to that statement. Much respect to Mo but at max he needed to get 5 outs in an outing. Tiger has to do that 4 days in a row, especially on Sunday and with millions on the line for every put.

@@oscarmoreno972 Mariano pitched more than 5 outs many times especially in post season. In 2003 ALCS game 7, he pitched 9 outs for the win. With game tied at 5, he pitched the 9th, 10th, and 11th innings. It was also an elimination game.

Years ago I worked with a guy who was convinced he could hit Rivera. I LOL and informed him that there were guys getting paid millions to play MLB who couldn't hit him. I told him Mariano could give you 10 pitches and you would whiff on all of them. He replied I'd make contact. I replied highly doubtful.
