great video You have an eye for real treasures. This is a museum to touch and explore with all your senses. Great

At 10:10 the Nordmende Spectra Color Studio...the most expensive TV receiver on the market in 1967. One large colour tube and three B/W. And yes those are Nixies in the channel indicators. A 3-tube colour Eidophor was used by NASA up into the early 1990s when it was replaced by several Hughes-JVC D-ILA units.

Good thing I live too far away or I would undoubtedly come back with more stuff and the misses wouldn't be happy. On the other hand, I could probably donate a few things too.

I'm in the same situation but much closer.... they have so much stuff, some parts are stored outside. But the only thing I wanted to buy was not for sale. A nice HP-97 calculator was on the desk in the shop, but they wanted to keep it.

Was there a few months ago. Our main interest was the printmaking section, since they took over everything from the Gutenberg Museum in Fribourg that was thrown out of theyr old building. We were quite confused and a bit disappointed in the way they display a lot of stuff they have. Sure, there are some great exhibits and historic pieces in this collection, and it was fun to explore and discover some gems. But it seemed like they don't really have a thorough concept or curation in some sections, and it had a bit of wierd unorganized vibe for a place that is supposed to be a "museum".
@PlaywithJunk3 ай бұрын
That's true, some sections look unorganised. But I give them some credit because they are working on it. I mean they have so much stuff to care about... that takes time. The old place near the train station in Solothurn also had some chaotic spots but those were the most interesting 🙂

I wonder what that big bar in the Messerschmitt car is for... In case of emergency, break glass? 😂
@PlaywithJunk3 ай бұрын
The green bar is part of the chassis and the white is the steering handle... what bar do you mean? The "glass" is Plexiglass acryl glass. They say they used old airplane parts for this. Pretty hard to break 🙂
@AKATEATime3 ай бұрын
@@PlaywithJunk The long green bar is what I was joking about. Ah.. being Messerschmitt, it makes sense they'd use airplane parts. 👍

the new enter kinda sucks not gonna lie. back in the day when it was still on the main station in solothurn, it was so much cooler. Also the new price of 32francs is completely unjustified. especially after the old museum was 14francs... Also they throw away much very nice and valuable stuff, just because they are too lazy to put it onto ricardo or ebay, which i have little to no respect for. sad to have to see such an amazing museum turn into whatever it is now... edit: And also, I worked for them, they treat their workers extremely poorly, and show no respect for the work. I worked there 2 years ago, and Now none of my coworkers work there anymore. Everyone left and mostly it was because the lack of aprichiation. Also I tried to negotiate with the owner multiple times to arrange some deals, that I can at least take a look at the stuff he is throwing away, so I could supply the VCF emailing list or other stuff, with no sucess. It feels like the owner wants to throw away this stuff to make us angry..
@PlaywithJunk3 ай бұрын
That is sad to hear. I had the feeling it would be a great place to work... They are currently trying to collect money for their energy bills. I would expect that they use every opportunity to get some extra income. I understand that they don't want to sell on Ebay/Ricardo directly because that's always a lot of extra work. But I don't understand when they do not accept your offer to care about it. I also wondered about how many items were standing outside in the weather.... I think the ticket price is acceptable. Many museums and exhibitions cost 20, 30 of more Franks. Yes it is at the upper limit but I also see how much work has been done and still needs to be done.
