You brought up a great point. I realise now that despite the original games (not studio games of which were the only mentioned) being real games, They still are "Gacha" games. While i was lucky to not have a gambling addiction despite the hours I spent as a kid on the "Gacha world" Game, I see how that could develop if i wasn't locked out of microtransactions, i think i will defend even the more gameplay oriented games less. I struggle from another addiction and I never considered addiction on the table until you pointed it out, thank you.

To address the "Why use Gacha if you can just draw" point I just wanna say that I don't think it was ever intended to be used for art purposes anyway. When people create art content from it I think it's very much a preference thing. In my experience I've been using Gacha apps for about 5 years now and I think I draw pretty well anyways (if I do say so myself, I've been drawing from like 3 years old but idfk). I mainly use Gacha for videos but it's really just for the fun of it and how I can stretch the app's limits to create something above average 'screenshot slideshow videos' the community is notoriously known for. Plus it depends on what the person wants to use, just because I can animate or draw doesn't mean I always have to whenever I wanna make content, and I do create drawn animatics every so often too. TLDR: We use Gacha because why not lol Okay in retrospect this comes off as "I use Gacha when I'm lazy" and... that is true in my case. But I can still draw guys come on don't come at me- And like I said I stretch the limits of the app, my storage always suffers from the amount of screenshots I take istg- Some Gacha content still takes effort, guys! We're not lazy!

Former gacha club person here, its really sad how everybody including random people ruining gacha club. I stopped using it and i run and hide away when someone comes near me or i turn it off because i dont want to be called a loser or smthin like that. I use gacha rarely but when I do I mainly just use it for a general idea of a character for writing or drawing. It’s a way for me to visualize the character, mainly the colors, so my writing and drawings are a little more consistent as I have some memory problems. I don’t post anything I make on gacha anywhere but I have used it. Anyway great video and points that I mainly agree with!

Also its more cartoony style is simple and easy to read to me also I have a more cartoony style for drawing plus it gives a somewhat ok color palette that visualizes how well some colors would go with a certain personality or role.

When I was 7 years old, I did not know what a "smartphone" was (because the smartphone entered the Algerian market in 2015 according to my memory) so My childhood games are real-life games (cars, planes, etc.) and a snake game on a Nokia phone, and now as a 15-year-old, What I see, what my younger sister watches on KZbin, and what she plays, I feel nauseous from everything she witness, And now because I'm babysitting my sister, I have to watch all of these things everyday...

I use Gacha club because I just generally like to. I like pushing myself with the app limits and seeing how creative my can be. It was only aimed to childrean because it grew popularity with kids. The games were originally meant for young adults, so that's why some people were claiming that some outfits in Gacha Studio were "inappropriate". Also I quit gacha and never came back.

As a gacha community member, i can explain everything. Honestly the community hates itself, heat is the main problem as gacha life’s heat-blocking thingy is only on certain devices, on gacha studio you can’t do anything. On gachaverse there’s nothing to do. On gacha club you either are annoying, are good, or do heat. Everyone blames the creator but it’s the community’s fault, everyone made extreme problems that the creator couldn’t handle at all.

Actually, it's the community that makes gacha heat bad. They give it FAR too much attention. That's why I left. These stupid children dont want anything else besides drama and crappy content unless one gets lucky and becomes the exception. Also, I dont think Lunime (Creator) is any good either. If you played his older games, you would see heavy sexualization of underage characters. I wouldn't call him a pedo though. Most of those are just allegations. As a person that used to be in the gacha fandom, I will say my response to this video. I think that this video explains well on the situation of the community and its horrible reputation. When I was in the community a few years ago, most of the community was just a normal and generic community. Sure there were some rlly good edits here and there but most of it was just unfunny memes, reaction videos, meme animations and some decent edits. The heat part of the community was basically a small portion of the community that the majority wanted to stamp out. I feel like commentary youtubers reacting to gacha life cringe on the r/gachalifecringe subreddit so they could get ad revenue to pay rent accidentally caused their fans to bully gacha fans out of EXISTANCE. I can say that the gacha club is a massive upgrade to gacha life because of the more creativeness with its mechanics. While I do think the community is cringe, the community against it is sometimes worse than the gacha community. They will flat out dehumanize any gacha kid with a pfp and bully them until they give up. There was a period in the gacha community where some red bitch (I forget her name) was a gacha youtuber and said the most out of pocket stuff in order to get views. It’s basically the same as what Lisa gaming did. Do something out of pocket, free views. Luckily it pretty much ended and everybody forgot about the yt, but other ones followed that same formula and kept the period going for a solid few more months. The last thing I need to address with the “learn how to draw” thing. I think that statement is a little too overboard because practically all of gacha community uses mobile. Ive seen a lot of talented work come out the community using both drawing and editing the characters. Just let them do their thing with the training wheels and soon enough they will learn how to do some really talented drawing. In conclusion, Gacha life is basically a average community with a small portion of the community being bad, the only thing different from other communities is that it gets dehumanized and bullied to DEATH (Im prob gonna get bullied in the comments anyways)

These kind of games really help you understand the structure and systems fandoms and anti-fandoms have. Fandoms which get too big, or the dark side of the fandoms being ostracized by anti fans, which causes a stigma for fans who participate in a fandom. I still can't believe kids so young are also participating in fandom culture, blissfully unaware of all the dark spots that lurk.

Well I mean, the whole point of "gacha life, club, verse" is supposed to be a official creator maker, but I suppose that it got bypassed and there are less family Friendly. Great video! I'm not involved in the gacha community that much anymore because of the toxic community and I simply got bored of it. I only use gacha nowadays to just play out small skits to give me a general idea of what to draw or write about. But I rlly appreciate gacha because if I never got into it, 2 of my most special ocs (who live rent free in my head 24/7 btw) wouldn't even have EXISTED, and if they didn't exist, I would've never gotten into drawing. As a member of the gacha community, I completely agree with everything mentioned in this video. A lot of the community are kids under the age of 12 who make content rather... concerning- from 30 second long stories about an unrealistically abusive families, to whole 10 minute long videos with more than 2 parts about a person who became from homeless to a schoolgirl finding a soulmate using a certain colour that appeared on their hair and almost sewerliding, to "trends" about being SAed, yes, the gacha community is very fvcked up. But this is actually exactly what you said in the video. These messed up videos are usually made in gacha life, have random tags etc, and with more people noticing only those ones, it covers the entire community and gives it a bad name. As to answer the question "why would anyone use gacha", for me, I just like being in the gacha community. Making animations with Gacha Club is just something I take interest in, and sharing it with other creators who aren't controversial or make controversial content is actually fun. If you have a problem with me and people like me for simply something we take interest in, that's a pretty big red flag that you're one of those cringe culture low lifes as stated in this video. 12:43 Little note: the gachatuber here is one of the most controversial of all time. idk i’m sure most people would rather put out their ideas and work in different ways than gacha, but most people don’t have the resources or talent (yet) to produce something completely on their own. ik when i was 11 and really into the fandom everyone i met who also enjoyed gacha were young kids that also loved drawing but weren’t good at it yet. they all mostly loved anime and animated tv shows too, and it was just a really easy tool to use to make stories that you would want to see in those animations. and also, you can use gacha life and draw at the same time. i see this argument a lot in this comment section about “why do they use gacha when they can just practice drawing” if they are interested in art they *are* practicing their drawings while also using gacha. idk why some ppl think they cant do both at the same time

I will say Gacha World is the best title, and its actually decent, as it has a pretty good RPG, and doesn’t have the “gacha creation” section, other than creating your character, which actually have items costs in-game currency. It also takes a very long time to actually finish, may seem bad, but still is decent. However, it hasn’t been updated since HALLOWEEN OF 2017.

As i, an ex-Gacha member, some of Gacha games that Luni made we're almost finished or did not get any updates at all after few updates (such as Gacha Resort, the last story didn't added after last update in 2017 but the game admin, Charlotte Lee released a text script to show what the last story chapter will be like, as for Gachaverse, Luni didn't add either the story mode or others after few updates since he was focusing on Gacha Life, Gacha Club unfortunately wasn't able to update after the files that he use to update the said app was deleted)

you cannot be talking about the quality of gacha games without mentioning the pre-Life games. they're genuinely great and i've had fun playing through all of them! Gacha World doesn't work on most devices anymore but it's genuinely great. the storytelling is a little rough but the gameplay is fun and the gacha mechanics are rewarding and you literally can't beat the game without lower units. give it a try, it's fun!

Fun fact: the gacha “inappropriate content” was spreading so much and was so awful in 2019-2020 that even the news of a certain country talked about it. The gacha community sucks, and there is no way in defending that. *Yes, i have a gacha profile picture and yes my last uploaded gacha video was 1 and a half year ago.* I guess the gacha community only helped me to learn the basics of editing and character design, and going on with the times i learned how to do things by myself without using gacha. Today, i can edit very well and also draw very well BY MYSELF, without using gacha. I just hope these children in the community will grow up and realize that they need to let go off that “support” of the game. Please, do not join the gacha community guys, not only it is very toxic, but it’s filled with children that have no parental control whatsoever. 👍🏻

As an artist that has never used gacha life or any type of bases for my art, the whole 'why dont you just draw it all yourself instead' doesnt sit right with me. From my own understanding, editing gacha characters or drawing over them is no different to using bases (Blank drawings made by artists for other artists to draw or trace over with permission). Using bases is kinda like training wheels, or turning down the difficulty slider. Art is VERY hard to learn, and using bases can help keep people have fun making art (which is a lot harder than you would think, especially if youre like me and hope to go pro one day), even if they didnt 'make it themself'. And not everyone wants to git gud at art aswell, its no different to playing a comp shooter or writing. For some people its just a hobby, and thats fine. And your definition of what an animation meme is kinda not all there aswell. Its also about telling stories/giving lore about your ocs and having fun, both of which you can do if your only changing poses for the funni chibi character. Once again, its also a 'training wheel thing' for some. And lastly, using gacha as a ref/oc maker for you to then draw is still valid imo. It can be a nice and quick way of getting ideas out and finding direction for making a character. Artists use external software and even games (Mmos are usually best for this lol) as reference to draw from all the time. Sketching out ideas for an oc is a lot longer and more tiresome than just using the funni character creator, and plus that sort of pipeline is more for actual professional character concepts and designs that can have several passes before youre happy with it. Sorry for writing the entire bible but I had to get that out there, cus i really dont want people who arent artists believing that sort of stuff and garnering any more unnecessary drama and hate towards artists for what and how they create. I love your vids dude, and a lot of the other points in the vid were very valid. But your takes on the art side seem kind of misinformed. Regardless, keep creating dude and everyone else too. Yes that is a really good point you brought up! There is really good content out there that just restrict themselves to the game in general. But here's another thing to consider: 1. (This is a point you brought up in the video) clout. It's popular, so if we use it we're popular too. Not much to say. 2: it doesn't work with anything else. Most of the creators that I know have problems with their art and their artstyle and its not consistent. They use gacha because it's widespread and is consistent unlike their art. But you're right. We do need to take off our training wheels.

Old Gacha user here! I just want to say that Gachaverse is actually not a copy or remake from Gacha Club. Gachaverse is actually the gacha club.... way before gacha club existed. Why was the rpg aspect cancelled? Even I myself and others within the community at its time still dont exactly know why, but I did find it atrocious that they did bring back the rpg element in Gacha Club.... but made it a huge step back that what it actually was meant to be in the older RPG Lunime games. I consider verse as a bit of the forgotten child that is caught up in the mess of what is now the community. Also I do agree with how much the community has become a dumpsterfire. One thing i also do wish to kindly correct you about is that most of the gacha games after the release of Chibi became dressed up instead of rpg elemented so yeah atleast a good other chunk of the half are atleast some part of rpg elemented. But there is still one game that stood out from both dress up and rpg and that was memories which was a novel. Other than that I enjoy this video and i hope to see another cover of the games!

its honestly refreshing to see unbiased takes that brings a fresh perspective to the whole gacha debate, you're not the first to critique the obvious lack of creativity in the fandom, but I think the argument about using these apps to draft a character falls flat when you really think about it, it might be useful to get that hairstyle you're having trouble with down but otherwise using a paper doll game is not that helpful, as a digital artist who's somewhat familiar with gacha, countless times have I seen someone draw an oc with an accessory that's so obviously from gacha its actually really distracting, a lot of experienced artists will urge others to use photo reference, as its harder to stylise drawn reference to fit your own artstyle, if one needs help drafting a character, a quick google search or Pinterest collage can be just as if not more effective. In all fairness to those who do this I have used paper doll games before, but it was usually when I was too lazy or artblocked to draw on my own and wanted the characters done quick or just for the fun of it, its not a perfect solution and I switched to a game called kisekae when I use paper doll games because its objectively more in-depth anyways

"Learn how to draw" Not everyone wants to or can learn how to draw. If people want to use Gacha to create characters, let them. I agree that the Gacha games are bad because they're all copies of each other and the gambling mechanic is predatory, but some of us just want to enjoy a little of dress-up. Oh boy, I think that’s just the middle of the surface you’re topics are. As a member of the Gacha Community, dramas, are often into place. No seriously, there’s often drama that has been occuring in the community. There are some Gachatubers (That’s what we call for youtubers who mostly create Gacha Content) that were involve in single drama in the corner, some are impactful, some are not. There are some who resolved in a good way, some are worse, like, getting it away with it WITHOUT apologizing. Yet despite the drama, hate, clout, heat or any kind of controversial topics in the community, I still love the community. I have been playing this for almost 4 years and started my gachatuber career in 2020, there are some who are generously nice. I love Gacha Club because, it’s cool. Simple.
