Former enterprise employee here. I worked at multiple branches including an airport for a couple years right out of college. One common theme in the comments is the emphasis on customer service. This is something Enterpise takes very seriously. We would get our customer service score at the end of every month and was basically a make or break for bonus payouts and promotions. I even saw managers get fired for too many low customer service scores in a row. If you rent there you will probably ask you if you were “completely satisfied” with your experience because there is such an emphasis on it. And if you weren’t we were literally told that you need to “make it right” lol. Glad I’m out of the rental industry but definitely will still go there over the rest of the other companies.

Within the last month, we were told we cannot any longer coach the survey, but we still need to get the same results and try and dig and feel for upset customer when they’re returning. Plenty of customers who don’t express their feelings and say they’re fine when they return and then burn our scores with a ‘somewhat satisfied’ can be quite frustrating

Former ABM with Enterprise here. I left the company a few weeks ago. Nothing against the people I worked with, but the emphasis on "You can do everything perfectly but we're still going to withhold promotions based on if you're not achieving our SQI requirements" was ridiculous. We could not tell customers about the survey or use wordpaths that would normally let us know the customer was actually compsat, but when you don't have any auto detailers, you're cleaning and renting the vehicles yourself. I've been renting cars for decades, everything from local travel for when my car was in the shop to cross-country travel. Enterprise is the best company to deal with and it is not even close. The price is better, they pick you up, the locations are more convenient, the cars are nicer and they have a larger selection. Every interaction with the employees at this company have been superb. They have a great culture. I wish more companies were as well-operated and customer-oriented as Enterprise. Here is one anecdote: A few months ago, my family and I went for a trip to Canada. They originally gave us the price for a SUV. However, when I told them I planned to travel to Canada, we were informed that they had a policy that they didn't allow SUVs out of the country due to theft. They upgraded us to a mini-van at the same cost! Most companies would hem and haw and charge extra. We got in and out at Enterprise! Really amazing company that is unparalleled in the US.

I am a National (subsidiary of Enterprise) Emerald Aisle business customer. I would never use anyone else after the ease and convenience offered by this program. Walk into the garage, get in the car, drive away. I’ve been on so many business trips where people I knew waited hours at the Avis desk while I was already on the road. Further, I recently missed my flight in one state and National just let me drive my rental to my final destination city for only an additional days charge. 7 hour drive was sure better than staying over night and flying the next day
@magnusthereddidnithingwrong4 ай бұрын
My best experience with National was in the middle of 2020. Had to go hit a few client sites in Tulsa and across Kansas. Get to the Tulsa airport where the rental center is under construction, and there's a huge line at the Enterprise counter of folks with their families and no reservations. Me and this other lady business traveler get pulled aside since we had reservations and the poor lady at the counter told us both that the only cars they had available right now were a pair of Cameros. You mean I have to cruise by myself up and down Kanses in a pony car, pretty much the only time I'd willingly choose one? Hells yeah.

Walk into the lot, go to the President's Circle or Gold aisle, take a car and go, as long as I reserved a standard (D class). Cost me a flat $32 a day (plus tax) with my discount. I've driven a Merc C300, Dodge Charger, Mustang Convertible. I never have yet to drive the class I reserved 😁
@MattTabish4 ай бұрын
I totally agree, and think that National does it the best hands down. The Executive/Emerald aisle makes life very easy and there are always cars at most major airports which is why I think they are king of this model. Having Avis and Hertz status and using the similar model, National still does it better. Avis usually falls behind on cars at a lot of airports and you have to go speak to someone out at the lot in their little booth. Hertz does a pretty decent job here as well but National seems to have slightly more options as a whole. I will say that Avis is best for one way rentals but will not give you unlimited mileage. I've had many times Avis is the only one of the 3 that will give me a car (.30/mi) on a one way where National and Hertz will say no cars available (unless you return same place).

I was so grateful when I called National to ask about driving the car one way and the actual human being on the other end of the line just said “oh absolutely not a problem you go right ahead and I’ll just charge the card on file for one additional day and I’m emailing you a receipt now.” I was blown away that 1) the customer service person was domestic in the states 2) genuinely wanted to help me even though I was taking a brand-new full-size SUV out of their local inventory which can have an effect down the line. Insurance replacements only occur at neighborhood branches off-airport and can be stressful as an employee because there is almost no schedule with them. Any car rented out needs to be returned and if you have too many unplanned rentals, that can mess up the inventory, but the State Farm Claimants have to be taken care of because it’s such an important section of the company’s business.

In 2022 I came to Dallas by train and had a reserved car rental at Budget on Commerce Street. When I arrived I was told they didn’t have a car and they didn’t give a xxxx. Believe it or not. Miraculously, the concierge at the Adolphus saved the day. Never again for budget.

I've been using Avis since 2016 and generally have positive experience with them. A few times they'd offered a larger/better car with no extra cost when the one I requested were not available. Online check in also made it easy. Just be aware of the insurance coverage upsale.

When I was young the first car rental company I learned about Hertz. I liked the name because I thought it was a reference to the SI unit for frequency. But then I learned it was genuinely just the owners name haha. I think nostalgically Hertz is probably my preferred brand. For whatever reason, If I'm looking for a car, I will first check for Hertz. But from this video I think I like the way Avis is set up, with its high budget, medium budget, and low budget options. I am curious to look into how they stick to that model. With all that said there are definitely WAY more Enterprises in my life. There are maybe 2 close ones where I live and when I travel, I see enterprise more often on my trips.

8:19. I would say that Avis is the "premium" brand of Avis Budget Group, Budget, although the name indicates it is a "cheaper" brand, is definitely one of the major car rental companies, maybe not as prestigious as Avis, and in some cases cheaper than Avis (by a few dollars, but it truly varies). Payless, on the other hand is what I would consider a cut rate rental car company, that doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the major rental car companies. Also, while not mentioned in the video, Sixt Car Rental is starting to gain the reputation of one of the major players. In fact, Sixt was able to outbid Avis and Budget for space in the rental car center at Reagan National Airport, and now Avis and Budget are relegated to an off-site location serviced by a shuttle.

I usually rent from Sixt these days - the pickup at the airport is quick and easy (but most rentals are these days), but primarily because the car they give me is the car I _actually_ booked not a (not at all) "similar" vehicle. Also for not much more than the cost of renting a Ford, Chevy, Nissan, or Toyota, Sixt will rent me a BMW. So yeah, I'm pretty much done renting from Enterprise, Hertz and Avis!

My brother travels a lot, and he added me to his National Emerald Executive benefits. Never going a different rental again. Got picked up from the airport, dropped off at the car I wanted, handed my card over, paid half the going rate, and was off in less than 15 minutes from grabbing my bag. Enterprise has more buisness for a reason, and it's not just the poor souls stuck at a body shop.

I have rented cars from various companies for business travel through office travel agent. Enterprise always had larger than expected car sizes. Several standouts, while in Detroit, I never got a car manufactured by the big three - it was always and import. Long ago a 3-cylinder Geo Metro was foisted on me in the late fall that had a heater that wouldn’t. Lastly, would you wait at the rental agency, that was low on cars, while they did an oil change on your intended ride? Enterprise is my go to for personal travel.

Enterprise is the best of the three car rentals, because of their time management and vehicle availability. I rented a Toyota Prius and a Honda Odyssey which were good and reliable vehicles. While Hertz and Avis rented out Ford and GM vehicles, which were terrible cars like Ford Fusion, Saturn sedan, Chevy Cobalt, those cars had issues!

I used to work for Enterprise so I know how the sausage is made....and for the most part the sausage is made with quality ingredients. The ingredients are expensive, though, which is why I usually rent from Avis. My one experience with Hertz was poor and the recent news stories have pretty much turned me off of them for good.

The part that I hate the most of car rental is when they DO NOT have the size of the car you reserve. Usually I just need a small car to save gas and easily park when driving alone. They usually have to upgrade me 75% of the time to a HUGE 7 passenger SUV or even like a mustang which I do not care much for.
@melodyanderson79144 ай бұрын

Ive used Enterprise for what they're originally meant to be. Mostly in my life, I've used the lesser ones due mostly to price, because Avis and Hertz were ALWAYS more expensive than the others. My personal favorite was renting a Ford Ranger for $20/day from Budget back in the day. I knew things had changed when i was in Ft. Dodge, IA, and while their airport's only rental counter was Hertz, they didn't take advantage of that and the prices were actually cheap for once. I've used Hertz at least one other time, and Avis once, but i do mostly use the others if the car and the price is right. While an Avis and Enterprise standalone video would be nice, you should do a vs video for Turo and Rent-A-Wreck.

I travel a lot for work and have used Enterprise for a long time. I love the customer service I get at nearly all Enterprise locations. Recently though, I got an Amex card with Hertz points so I tried them out last week. Customer service was weak and the car they gave me a Mirage which is smaller than what I reserved and terribly uncomfortable for my 600 mile road trip. For another trip later in the week I went back to Enterprise with the same reservation details and on top of their great customer service, they gave me a fully optioned Sonata.

I arrange car rentals for clients that fly on private jets, and with those you get on and off at private terminals that are their own buildings, so I arrange the vehicles to be brought to the terminal's parking lot before the plane lands. A terminal agent holds on to the keys and paperwork, hands it over and gets paperwork filled out if needed, and they're on their way. That said, Hertz has the biggest tendency to just not do that. Like we literally have the car scheduled for pick up at the private terminal, and usually for an additional charge, and way too many Hertz employees are comfortable with not showing up and the local branch suddenly becoming unreachable when I try to call them and ask what the hell is going on. I hate Hertz and am extremely annoyed by Enterprise/National's customer service line not being 24/7. Hertz's customer service number only recently became 24/7, too. I will say one time a client called me because his Avis rental broke down in Italy, and since it was Sunday I and a German Avis employee I spoke to could not get a hold of a single Avis employee in all of Italy. They didn’t even have an emergency number. That was ridiculous.

I've been renting cars since the 90s, when I was in my 20s. I was the one person in the family that could never borrow someone else's car, even though those same people would take my car when theirs was in the shop. 🙄 We were in Chicago and I rented from Enterprise when I needed to. To be honest, I don't remember if there were other rental options near our house but I chose Enterprise because of my inner Star Trek geek. I prefer to use Enterprise when on vacation but I typically rent from whoever has the cheapest rates then. I love that Enterprise picks you up for free, it makes getting from the shop to the rental car great. I'm in WI now and just picked up a car from Enterprise yesterday. Now given my three decades of car rental experience I have to say, I'm not a fan of Enterprise's limited pick up range. I understand that by not limiting it to 5 miles it could take forever to pick someone up. It's just hard for me not to focus on that when I don't have any free options to get from the mechanic to Enterprise to get a car so I can go to work while my car is in the shop. I looked around the general area to see if there were other car rental options closer and the wasn't. For some reason there are very limited options for car rental companies in WI. I had to hire a ride via uber to pick me up from the mechanic and drop me off at Enterprise, all while rushing to get there before Enterprise closed.

I used Hertz in the 90s and never had a problem with them! They would even upgrade me to a better car if I couldn't comfortably fit into the one they chose due to my 6'7 height at no charge! I do believe it was Enterprise, however that once had a gal working there get snippy with me when my rental was taking a long time to get processed - even after the time it was due - with her remarking that I had "showed up early!" So what?! Haha!

Because of my business travel, I’m usually in an upper tier loyalty, but my current company now prefers Uber and we’ve switch alliances between the big 3 over the last 6 years decimating my status. I’ve had my best luck with Enterprise, Avis is the preferred these days, and Hertz has been a pretty far 3rd. I’ve also bought a fantastic Chrysler 300 from Enterprise sales before COVID which has been one of the best and lowest cost all-in while tripling the miles it started with!
