I was 10 in 1991. If you weren’t alive back in 90-91 you have no idea how big this guy was. When Ice Ice Baby video hit for those few months that was the biggest song in the world. I still haven’t seen anything that big since. Taylor Swift is way more popular overall now but the intensity of Ice Ice Baby was way greater at that time. That song was literally everywhere. I mean everywhere. The video played 24/7. I can’t emphasize enough how popular that guy was. It all went away just as fast though. On the Turtle’s thing. His memory I think is a little off. Yes back in 1991 or so TMNT did have their own aisle at Toys R Us but not now. TMNT was that big back then.

Your ignorance is astounding. After Ice Ice Baby, he was the first rapper to play in Russia and China. He became the 6th best jet ski racer in the world, he did songs with Public Enemy, former members of SlipKnoT, Bloodhound Gang and more - joined Offspring and Deftones on a tour.- dude's literally been everywhere. not his fault you're ignorant.
@romant1427 жыл бұрын
morbidchid no it's not a matter of me being ignorant I have the album to the extreme, and know what he's done after that with his metal sounding music but people interviewing him don't care about jet skiing and motor cycling unless they are into that, they want to know what it was like at the height of his career in music everybody knows that he had a downfall and his record was the biggest thing out at the time people want to dwell on stuff that they find exciting and that's all anyone is ever going to want to talk about it to him as a rule in these interviews. I know he's done plenty of things of course he's been around the world and he has his construction reality Show but people aren't going to ever talk to him about those lesser Mundane things or albums that tanked after to the extreme because it's not interesting to them. The guy speaks in hyperbole and doesn't tell the truth he is kind of a joke to be honest his ego is out of proportion. Ice ice baby was written by a rapper name chocolate he was sued for royalties for it plus the beat is taken as well and got sued for that. I'm not saying he hasn't done certain things but he is a kind of a fraud and that's why he got called out and it's never been the same for him musically. I'm not dissing him I used to like that album but when you find out that it's not even him writing kind of diminishes his credibility.
@morbidchid7 жыл бұрын
He actually did write Ice Ice Baby. He wrote it in 1983 when he was 16 and then Earthquake and a guy named M. Smooth helped him rewrite the song. Chocolate had nothing to do with it. Chocolate worked on 8 songs on the To the Extreme album, but not as a rapper but as a beat maker. Then when the album became big, Chocolate took all the credit in order to get Suge to help him get more money. This is evident in the fact that Chocolate needed three ghost writers himself when he was working on his album with Death Row. Check out the documentary : Vanilla Ice Archive. It tells the truth about Vanilla Ice. His best album by far is his 1994 album; Mind Blowin which is the reason he was in the east coast/west coast beef. It's true that he sorta strays away from telling the entire story here and there because he's literally done with the past, but if you want the full truth, check out the documentary, it goes through his entire career. Sorry about calling you ignorant, I just dislike it when someone takes.one of the hardest working man in show biz and implies that his only accomplishments are between 1990 and 1991 when he's been working nonstop since 1985. Even Ice tries to dismiss it in this interview by correcting Dan and saying "90s" instead of the "80s" because he knows Dan is just talking about that one time period, he himself then starts talking about opening up for NWA and the Stop The Violence Tour which is between 1987 and 1989. So it's all understandable. But check out Mind Blowin'. It's his best work. Amazing lyrics.
@romant1427 жыл бұрын
morbidchid right ok I understand and accept your apology. Do you think that chocolate would have been given publishing on the song and others if he had nothing to do with it? He wasn't getting credit until they were going to force a lawsuit and then they admitted it and gave him credit and he gets paid along with the rest of them towards the song if I'm not mistaken?
