You're a natural born charmer, Beth, and your house reflects it. This is gracious living, with every detail carefully thought out. And what a perfect little French seaside town - if you drew up a wish list, this would be it!

I wanted to leave a nice comment, but then I read this and it articulates everything I wanted to say but didn’t know how. Thank you Beth, for sharing all these details with us. @@Maha88815 I fell in love with all things French at the age of 16, mainly through books and art. France just summed up everything about how I wanted to live my life. Many years later, I now live here, and it's all I dreamed of. So, this is just to say I hope you will see France for yourself one day, and in the meantime, Beth does a grand job of sharing her experiences.

Your home is absolutely beautiful Beth! It’s elegant, it’s timeless, it’s not over done which is refreshing and I think that’s what gives it a relaxing feel. As for the shiny brass birds, my suggestion would be to leave them outside and let the elements take care of them. Hopefully the weather will make them look a little more aged over time.

Wow ! Thank you for sharing your lovely home. Just a thought on the birds - when I moved into my turn of the century home in CT, I found little birds mounted on the side of the water tower. They were all flying up to the sky. You could place them on your out buildings, this will also allow the brass to weather. All flying upward!

Beth, if you cut out paper templates of the birds you can tape them up in various flight patterns without committing a hole in the wall.

You can never have too many toilets! I'd never seen such a configuration, but our master bathroom is like a Jack and Jill bath. There are two bathrooms joined by a big shower. It's so indulgent. Now my husband and I don't know how we shared a bathroom for 35 years! You brought some "America" to France. We brought some "France" by way of Japan to our bathrooms. We now have bidet seats on each toilet. Game changer.

We found our mature espalier fruit trees at San Gabriel Nursery here in So Cal. It's a fabulous 100 year old nursery owned by a dear Japanese-American family. Just visiting there will take your breath away. We have our espalier's growing against our detatched garage. Lovely

Truly Lovely! You have quite the natural flair for decorating! As for the gold birds, if you choose to heed your father's advice, I would install them on an exterior wall of the house (in the backyard/garden) and let the weather age them ( give them some patina) naturally! Keep up the wonderful work!

Such a lovely home. Calm, clean and fresh. I love the French doors and shutters, the colour, and love the fruit trees too. I was thinking about the brass birds. I would hang them outside on the wall where the outside shower is. Like outside wall art. And a row of hooks to hang your towel and clothes up while you shower. Or a hat, beach bag. I lived at the beach and had a shelf to put soap and shampoo/conditioner on. A rail, and shelf for shoes. I didn't like all my things getting wet when I took an outside shower. We liked to shower outside sometimes to enjoy the view of the sea and wild bush. All of it is beautiful. Thank you.

Yes! 💯👏🏽👏🏽 The toilet should be separate from the shower. Like why hold up the entire bathroom. If I ever design a home that guests frequent, I will factor that in. My cousins and I used to frequent my aunt house on summer holiday: 3 bedrooms, 6 kids from 7 to 15 plus 3-4 adults 9People 🤦🏽‍♀️ but 1 bathroom. It would have been nice if the toilet was separate

Thank you for a wonderful tour. As to your brsss birds, I would consider putting them on the exterior of the building. I would definitely spray them with a rustoleum type of paint and choose a color or finish that appeals to you. There are all sorts of options from verdi gris to oiled bronze & other metallic patinas as well as all sorts of colors. I think you have done a wonderful job with your house. While it has a nice mix of accessories, everything has a curated feeling & overall it feels warm, comfortable, cozy & welcoming. Nothing feels overwhelming or too precious to touch. So, Bravo!

I love every detail you’ve done for other the house! I actually like the nautical knot frame! The girls room is absolutely darling! And I love all the French doors! The color is beautiful! And the brassy birds - my friend has a tattoo with those birds. I agree with you on it being too shiny. I love what you’ve done with the hooks you found at the market! And how clever to put a bike rack! The fruit trees along the wall look beautiful! I love how you strategically placed them between growth times. I love the outdoor shower too! Love the outside studio/guest room. That would make a nice Airbnb. I would rent it if I go to this area. I used to live in Ferney-Voltaire, border town of Geneva, so I normally go back there but perhaps I should see a seaside town instead of the Alpes. You could have a standing fan for the summer months would be perfect. You have a very nice, comfortable house and nicely decorated with taste.

So happy to see the rest of your beautiful home. I really wouldn’t change a thing and I know you’ll find the perfect two prints for the frames over the desks in the bedroom. I love how carefully you have thought things through and planned for the comfort of yourselves and your guests. And I love every added detail - the framed “knots” in the bathroom are perfect and your friend’s brother-in-law needs to find representation who can line up a gallery show for him. His work is pure perfection! I agree with the contingent that the seagulls would be better outside, but if you do that, placement will be important as they’re so shiny the reflection of the sun could make vision difficult or even cause damage to items or structures (like a magnifying glass). Someone suggested lightly sanding to remove the lacquer and that’s a possibility, too. I’m sure there are other ways to remove it (yay Google and KZbin!) as well. Maybe even acetone. I did NOT look it up, so I don’t know if that would work...

Girl, how have I missed seeing any of your videos before!!!!!! Absolutely charming! Looking for a home in France but near American friends in the Loire Valley but thrilled to learn about this special corner of France, thanks to you!!! Awesome to see your renovation of the house and the clean and simple design and colors! Stunning! The antique china gifted to your family wrapped in antique linens......what a great gift! I was visiting my friends in the Loire ten years ago and their painter was using antique bed linens for his drop cloth!!!!! We all gasped and he asked if we liked them......yes, indeed, than asked if we would like to have them......yes please, sir!!! So I ended up lugging them all back to Colorado! I purchased about a dozen more linen sheets when I visited these friends last October. I viewed a house quite similar to yours on that trip plus a few older stone houses......but was just not ready to bite the bullet.....soon, I hope! Thank you for these charming videos of "your France" and I really look forward to seeing more......plus there is huge library of your cooking videos! Lucky me! Cheers! Jilly

The home looks lovely now, Beth! I love that 4th bedroom as well. I especially love that first painting you showed in that bedroom. Just curious why your bedroom doesn't have French doors but just windows?

What great ideas! For your birds, I might recommend sanding them lightly to take off the shine and hanging them on the outside wall, by the shower? Like a flock of seagulls? If they're brass they might patina. Also, I might add wooden IKEA hangers in the first bedroom closet. They have wooden ones that are sold in packs that would match your decor perfectly! (I got some at IKEA in Bayonne so I know the French IKEA has them too.). Bravo for all your hard work!

Amazing job you did on decorating. So many people are adverse to decorating with Ikea furniture, but you sure know how to make it beautiful in your home and the lovely artwork. Love the beds you choose and the bedding. Excellent idea about the towels and draperies. Love the shutters. Love the artwork over your beds too. Love the village tour, so nice to see and very interesting. A beautiful area you have a home in France
