When TV3 (now Three) acquired the rights to the longest running showbiz news programme, Entertainment Tonight, in 1993 it was initially shown five days a week, Monday to Friday, at 5pm with a G (General) classification. This was followed by a new lifestyle magazine programme, 5.30 Live, which was introduced by TV3 earlier that year as a lead-in to 3 National News (at 6pm). The weekend edition of Entertainment Tonight (formerly Entertainment This Week) was shown on TV3 in a late night slot, i.e. approximately 10.30pm, on a Sunday with a PGR (Parental Guidance Recommended) classification.
