I’m a wheelchair user, having been born with the birth defect spina bifida. Just a few days ago, I was out running errands in my wheelchair, and I thought I noticed a couple of people staring at me. Suddenly, Via’s voice came into my head saying this very quote. Upon hearing this, I started holding my head a little higher and smiling to myself as I passed by them. 😁

I promise, this movie will make a difference in your life. 4th grade me was sitting in a classroom with my attention under the spell of a teacher who was reading Wonder aloud. Still, it meant very little to me. I went through middle school with this book in my heart. I read it 16 times and completed 6, A projects on it. Every teacher I wrote about it for told me that they were amazed with my understanding. When I told them how many times I had read it, they were shocked. My sixth grade teacher even told me I made her cry because she is a mom and said that it was so nice to see kids she had the privilege to teach really understanding how to chose kind. She told me that I was a student she wanted her kindergarten aged daughter to be like. I'm a freshman in high school now. I feel like I'm surrounded by kids who never learned to chose kind. This story seems kinda incredible but I promise it is 100% true. This passed summer, I was watching my previous sixth grade teacher's now third grade daughter, we shall call her Ella even though that isn't her name. My teacher and I stayed very close and live just a neighborhood away. I watched her daughter a couple days a week. We were at a playground. I kid you not, when I was watching this girl on the monkey bars and pushing her on the swing, I saw a girl with an evident, but not as severe, craniofacial difference sitting on a swing by herself with her mom. I took Ella's hand and just walked her over to the little girl. I asked the girl what her name was, and she told us, we'll say it's Heather even though it's not . Eventually, Ella's grip on my hand loosened the and I could tell she relaxed. The girls mom seemed completely and utterly amazed. After a little warming up on of both girls' part, I was eventually able to convince them to play together. When they ran off, the girls mom said to me, "I cannot thank you enough. There is nothing I would ever be able to say to make up for what you just did for my daughter as well as me." I told her about how I read Wonder and how I was just babysitting (she thought Ella was my sister.). The Heather'S mom asked me who I sat for so I told her my teachers name and ended up giving her phone number. I took the mothers phone number as well. Eventually, I had to collect Ella to take her home. We walked, side by side, on the sidewalk and she looked up at my and said, "Thanks." When we got back to her house, her mom, my teacher, was crying on the phone. I told Ella to hurry upstairs so I could talk to her mom. I found out that Heather's mom had already called Ella's mom. When she got off the phone, she hugged me so tight. She said, "Thank you so much! I always knew you were a special kid." Since then, I have read Wonder to Ella, and I just saw the movie with her and her mom. It's such a powerful feeling to know that you made a difference in someone's life. That day, I made a difference in Ella's, her mom's, Heather's mom's, and most importantly, Heather's lives. Also, it changed my life. So go out, make a difference in someones life and change the world!

I cried reading this, it was beautiful. You should think about becoming an author, your words hold so much compassion, I think that you would make a great career from writing.
@chloe_37877 жыл бұрын
Yasemit y I'm sorry you have stooped low enough to tell someone to kill themsleves. I am confident in myself, proud of what I commented, and quite frankly don't give a crap what other people think of my post if they don't like it. Obviously, you don't know how to chose kind because it's okay to not like something, but just keep it to yourself. This was a life changing experience for me and I don't care if you don't like it. I know there are people who would love to hear my story, so yes, yes people care, and if you don't, that's okay, but keep it to yourself. I love to hear people's positive responses, but if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. You are very fourtnuate that I am someone who has enough self esteem and common sense that I would not take your comment to heart.

Bullies are so mean , they think if there mean to other people it will make them stronger .If you are getting bullied by someone you should stand up for yourself if you don't they'll think you're weak and they won't stop bullying you .So you should stand up for yourself and other people that are getting bullied.

whoever disliked this video should be ashamed and shouldn't judge someone for how they look! AND SHOULD WATCH THE DAMN VIDEO TILL THE ENDDDDDD UGHHH PEOPLE..... PUUHHLEASEE 8:33-8:35 look at Olivia trying to talk to her mom but the mother isn't paying attention and at 8:54-8:56 the parents leave her to the side and play with Auggie that sucks... hopefully it gets solved in the movie why else would they include how she's feeling. "You can't blend in when you were born to stand out." soooo cute she's so sweet even though she,s never gotten attention from her parents well not that much I doubt they never pay attention to her? Anybody recognize the teacher -> DAVEED DIGGS AS IN -> LAFAYETTE-> JEFFERSON-> HAMILTON BROADWAY MUSICAL!!!!!! no wonder he's not in the musical anymore.... AND VIA is in the fosters!!!
