@Kenneth David Cleveron Ugly is not an opinion, it's a fact based on what you see. You can have preferences regarding what you find attractive. But when you call someone ugly, it's because they aren't pleasing to look at, not because you don't find them attractive. Yes I'm sure they see it as beautiful. 🙄

the amazing thing about this film is that I've never seen a film tackle multiple pov's in the style of a book before (preluding with the name of the character and switching to their voice). it isn't just auggie's story, everyone else gets their stories told. it's beautiful.

This movie made me cry many times.. I truly feel one should experience these emotions to appreciate kindness.. There are so many quotes i like from this film.. "Because i am your mom, it matters the most" and then this one "When given the choice between being right or being kind choose kind" and this "I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives.”.. Goes on.. Such a WONDERful movie ❤️

Loved the movie and how it didn’t only revolve around August, the child who was born special. It revolved around everyone. Via who was neglected because she convinced herself that everything was fine the way it is, the parents who are doing their best but have shortcomings they had yet to know of, even the “villains” who you’d find out are not quite the villains they are seen as once you’ve seen their story, and everyone else who all have different reactions to seeing someone who isn’t quite ordinary in their standards, and their reasons.

I was born with hand deformities, went through several surgeries by the age of five just to have functionable fingers and thank God and the doctors who were able to make that happen for me. But the years and years of insults and abuse during school were not my favourite part of life and required many, many tortourous hours of self searching so I could finally understand that it is indeed the world that’s ugly. My father, whom I’ve never seen cry over a movie in my life, has cried while watching this movie. And I can see why. God bless our parents. They pass all that trauma with us. They are truly our angels, heaven-sent.

"You can't blend in when you were born to stand out" Auggie was born with a facial disorder or something so he doesn't look the same as everyone else. In a crowd of people Auggie would stand out because he looks different. He was born that way. Do you get it "You can't blend in with the crowd when you were born to stand out" because he is different but a good different. Special.

Anyone else went on a field trip to watch this movie on November 17? At the time I was also in 5th grade and after the teacher read the book to us, we went to watch this movie. When me and all the other 220 or so 5th graders were walking on the sidewalk I remember this old lady peeking out the window. This movie brings back so many memories and pre pandemic nostalgia.

This trailer planted the first seeds of my (very late) love for Hamilton. Because people kept talking about the teacher being a guy from Hamilton, and freaking out about it. So that left me with the knowledge that Hamilton exists, is a cool musical and is worthy to be obsessed over. It took a few years to blossom, but here I am. Coming back just for Daveed this time.

Everyone needs to see this movie! It doesn't matter if you're 2, 102, or anywhere in between. I promise this movie will make a difference in your life. Flash back 5 years to my 4th grade year. I was sitting on the floor with my best friend and 20 other kids surrounding my teacher as she captivated our attention in the reading of this book. Now to my 5th grade year. Both me and my best friend got the book and 365 Days of Wonder for Christmas. We read that book over and over again. We even read a quote a day all year starting on Janruary 1st. Next my 6th grade year. I wrote an essay about Wonder, which was the 3rd school project I had done on it. My teacher wrote a comment on my writing that it made her cry. Seventh grade next. I did a series of 5 mini projects with it. My teacher was so amazed with what I was able to do with that assignment. Now 8th grade. My best friend and I went with our moms to meet the author. We listened to R.J Palacio talk about her reasoning behind writing the book, then we met her and she signed our books. Now here I am, my freshman year of high school. I have read the book 16 times and completed 5 projects (all As I might add) on Wonder. The day the movie premiered, I was sitting in a theatre next to my best friend. This book and movie means more to me than anyone will ever know. Please choose kind!

Joshua Wentz, actually, it would be very beneficial for a young child, a two year old, to see Wonder. Children learn from immitation of their parents, siblings, movies, and tv from the time they are born. If a child hears kind things being said to a child who looks differently then them, whether or not they know they are "kind things" they may learn to imitate it. Being nice will become their normal and Wonder can only help feed that growth. So yes, two year olds should see Wonder. And I did not think a toddler would A, be on KZbin by themselves looking in the comment section or B, be able to read a comment. I am an accelerated highschool student and simply have common sense; I know how child development works; I understand babies aren't born with the ability to read. I was directing this comment at parents, grandparents, or caregivers and it was meant as a simple review of a movie that is uplifting and positive and a good movie for anyone to see.
@chloe_3787

gaming with partyallnight, yes, a 102 year old human could see this movie. With all sarcasm aside, I meant the wide age range as an indicator that this is a great movie for anyone to see. I think you probably understood that so I'm not sure why a sarcastic comment needed to be left when you probably knew exactly what I was trying to accomplish. If you were truly confused, I was happy to clear anything up!

Auggie's face looks almost normal in the movie, I'm kind of disappointed... when I read the book I imagined him like the male version of Juliana Wetmore

rachellejacksongaya Same here, but you can only do so much to make someone look the way he was intended to without physically moving his features around. We have to keep in mind that they could only use makeup around the actor's normal features :)

Its because movies like this don't dare to go too far. They are made to make people feel sorry and give a little perspective but keeping it a cliche pg family movie. Just stick with the book.

I haven’t watched this movie but I have read the book, and Oh my God. Wonder is officially my favorite book. There some pages in the book that I kept on reading over and over again because of how emotional the content was. And the chapters in the book are actually “point of views” of each of the characters, it shows the struggles of not only August but also his sister, his friends and Julian too. By reading this book, I learnt two things: number one, we’re not the only ones who have problems, there are people out there who have problems far greater than ours. And number two, beauty really does lie in the eyes of the beholder, seen through a filter of love, everybody is beautiful.

It's cool how Summer and Jack Will have the kinda " popular friends" and they even say they can be mean. So they see that if they become friends with Auggie they know they will be judged but chose to be friends with him anyway because they see he is a nice kid.
