4:23 “But when all seemed lost, I stared at defeat (the feet) and found hope.” This actually goes perfectly with that quote, because if you remember, in the last scene, “But when all seemed lost” is when the machine is charging up its next attack, only for Flint to look down at his feet, which reminds him of the spray on shoes, this is where the “I sated at defeat (the feet) and found hope” part comes in, that was honestly a perfect quote for that scene, and it’s a shame that we don’t see movies like this nowadays.

Flint is an insanely relatable character for me. He's the character who wants to show his gifts to the world, but the world keeps beating him down for it. I was made fun of for being the weirdo "screw-up" in my late elementary/early middle school years too. And just like him, i had probably just as many self doubt and depressing moments (like the garbage scene) As a high school graduate aspiring to be a writer and artist, this movie is a stand out example of great storytelling and character development.

I love the music near the beginning, before Flint’s voice comes in. His mom sits down beside him, convinces him to not give up, & inspires him to chase after his dreams. “But that never stopped them.” I love the music as she holds up the lab coat: “I was saving this for your birthday, but here.” Her admiring smile: “The world needs your originality, Flint.” His two lines most of all. “My dream was to help my hometown. A tiny island hidden under the A in Atlantic, called Swallow Falls,” and “But when all seemed lost, I stared at defeat, & found hope.” I love the music & color for the title & when it shows Flint’s lab. “It had been almost 10 years since Mom died, & Dad still didn’t understand me like she did.”

This movie is underrated. You can tell this movie is supposed to be comedic ; especially since the banana towards the begin. Even with that said ; there are very impactful moments, relatable scenes that all ages could relate to. The movie is also Original , the idea of raining food is phenomenal. I also love the joke toward the title of the film , “I stared at defeat , and found hope” Defeat meaning “The Feet” that he literally looked at. This film may not be perfect , but the pros of it are really really impactful , such as the score and character designs.

@@matiaspereira9382 so do I sometimes but I think that if they act out of character too much then they get kinda off and it gives me a weird feeling, but that’s my opinion. I don’t think it’s wrong for them to act out of character but I like when it has more reason then this, I mean don’t you think that he would probably end up in jail or something if he sprayed it in their eyes

You underestimate his ability. He made a robot that can mimic human walking motion wile remaining much more compact than today's MIT students can. Man made a rocket engine in a freaking 10 cubic foot room, made genetic monstrosities. Do not treat him lightly

Exactly. Even though a lot of his inventions went awry, you still can’t deny how impressive they are still. Despite his shortcomings Flint is VERY intelligent.

I had a sudden memory of raining spaghetti and meatballs popping up in my head while I was dazing out. I watched this in class as a happy elementary kid, now I'm a senior highschooler drowning in failing grades.

@@theiridiumgamer5225 Hahahaha, I actually don't really watch many movies. And I'm making up for my failing grades right now from last year where I was struck by sudden depression😂. But yeah thanks for the thought.

I know it's a gag but the fact that his spray-on shoes are nigh invincible is dangerously awesome. The US military would probably turn all of Europe into a nuclear winter just for that technology

Coat some armored plating and shielding in that and you've got a (scary) military application.

Flint seems like the type of guy who's really smart but needs an editor/focus testing type guy or team who can question every invention he makes.
