Mean Girls Cast Compares New Movie to Original, From Iconic Quotes to Homages (Exclusive)

Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, Avantika and Bebe Wood chat with ET's Denny Directo about 'Mean Girls.' The cast breaks down the differences between their new movie and the original 2004 comedy, from including iconic quotes to paying homage within their fresh take. Yes, they did. it was turned into a musical in 2018. You forgot to type the word “great” between ‘ fucking’ and ‘ musical.’ That’s OK, Perhaps the teachers assistant who was typing for you missed that part. School budgets are so tough and it’s really hard to give every special-needs kid the attention they deserve. ​@@stanbaloIt was on Broadway until March of 2020, and was shut due to Covid (like all productions in NYC were). However, the original tour production ran until late 2022 AND there is another tour currently going around the USA. Mean Girls is also opening in the West End next year & has recently released the rights for Jr productions of the show to be put on. So, it's still EXTREMELY well loved and is clearly doing very well for itself. This movie is for us theatre kids, not the general public who hates on us theatre kids. If you don't like it, don't watch it, but the show is incredibly successful and I recommend doing your research on it before making comments.

These actors know they are in big trouble hence their defensive answers like please watch our movie and give it a chance. As much as it is a big opportunity, it is also not a great career move to accept those roles bec those roles are really not open for another actor. Cady is Lindsay, Regina is Rachel etc etc. It is ok for broadway but for a movie it is a big no. It would only work if they make it into another thing like maybe same storyline but totally different setting like in an office etc.

I think this is a great cast! It’s sad that you’re judging them based off of their appearances and haven’t actually seen the movie yet… I mean it is your opinion I guess but I personally believe they will be phenomenal on screen!
