Priscilla Presley opens up about the day Elvis died. When she sat down with ET in 2005, Priscilla shared intimate details of the aftermath at Graceland, where their daughter, 9-year-old Lisa Marie, had found a 'way of escaping' the mourning period following her father's death on Aug. 16, 1977. At the age of 42, the King of Rock and Roll died of heart failure. Lisa Marie Presley died on Jan. 12 after suffering cardiac arrest at home. She was 54.

Elvis died on my mom’s 17th birthday. She told me that when she sitting on the swings at the park, waiting for her boyfriend, he walked over to her and said “Did you hear the news?” And she shook her head and said no and then he sadly said “Elvis died.” My mom was devastated. 😭😭

Yes, the world did mourn together. My husband walked through the door. I saw his face. I looked at him questioning and he said, "Elvis died." Two words that changed the world. He took the kids. I lost my grandfather when I was 9, and I had no concept of death or mourning. I remember being so confused about how I was supposed to feel. I went off with my cousin and started playing and tried to get away from my family all crying and being upset. I wanted to go to the church carnival that night. I was 9 at the time, too. I'll never forget that day. My grandparents and I were driving to the Gold Coast, and there was a huge traffic jam, when they announced on the radio " that the King, Elvis Presley is dead". People started beeping their horns, getting out of their cars, crying, in shock and total disbelief, etc... People that didn't even know each other were having conversations in the middle of the traffic jam. It was wild.

My heart goes out to Vernon and little Lisa Marie thinking about this day. It's funny how peoples stories change over time. Maybe she was hurt and confused about what happened that sad day. Only a couple of things match what she says in her book, Elvis & Me. I was watching videos and she said three different things that was in her book. She said she woke up with an uneasy feeling on August 16th, 1977 and felt like something sinister was going on, in the video she said that she had an appointment. Then she said her and her sister were going shopping that day and as soon as her sister Michelle told her Joe Esposito was trying to get in touch with her that she knew that something terrible had happened.

I think Ginger said Priscilla was bitching at Elvis that day because he hadn't sent Lisa home and that he owed her money. He told her he was waiting for Sam to get back to Graceland because he always took Lisa home. Ginger said they were not having a great conversation. Priscilla was also asking him about money he owed her. Her daughter was in shock and she didn't know what to do. She was alone. Even during the funeral Priscilla wasn't taking care of her, she was visiting with guests that were there instead of keeping Lisa with her and training her about how to handle it, how to mourn, and keeping her close to her. It only proves Lisa (as she said to Ginger and Linda) that she didn't think her mother liked her. Lisa was right. Priscilla hadn't spoken to Lisa in 8 yrs. and after seeing her at the GG looking the so ill, she never took care of her. Lisa died alone. Priscilla did her duty announcing her death, but she never said one kind word about Lisa at her funeral. She read something one of the twins wrote. Ben spoke for Riley. Not one word talking from Priscilla praising her daughter or saying anything. She also brought Navarone and Lockwood to Lisa's funeral when Lisa asked that they not be there. That's Priscilla's legacy to her daughter. Elvis knowing what she did to Lisa, Elvis would say heck no she's not being buried next to me.

@kris-vs7ed You’re right, but it was much worse than that. Lisa and I held hands at Elvis’ funeral. I was 11 and Lisa was 9. Priscilla wore a turtleneck dress in August to his funeral? The “Elvis” movie with Austin Butler was so stupid, but Lisa was pressured to say she liked it as she needed the money. Uncle Elvis didn’t wear makeup and lace shirts! Lisa became obese and had gastric bypass and was on a certain diet drug. Y’all know what the drug is. Priscilla Wagner looks like shit! She forced Lisa to “look good” for the Golden Globe Awards. No one loses 90 pounds in 3 months. Lisa had skin removal surgery and was high on painkillers. Fuck Priscilla. Lisa had to hold Jerry Schilling’s arm at The Golden Globes as she couldn’t stand up. She looked like a zombie. We both lost a son so we leaned on each other for emotional support. Priscilla is so stupid that she had construction grade silicone injected into her face! When she dies, things won’t be as she wishes. Elvis never wanted to marry Priscilla. She was pregnant so he did the right thing. Priscilla couldn’t wait to wiggle her way back into Graceland. Lisa had NO RELATIONSHIP with “Priscilla’s son.” That’s what Lisa called him. Priscilla would give that bastard Lisa’s money and even paid for his swanky wedding. I was there when Danielle Riley and Benjamin Storm were born. Who files a lawsuit BEFORE her dead daughter’s funeral? Greedy witch!

Narcissist Priscilla never loved Lisa Marie. She only loved her daughter's name and her money. Otherwise Priscilla wouldn't have dumped 11 year old Lisa Marie at a Scientology youth prison, allowed her in house lover Edwards to sexually harrass Lisa Marie, steal her daughter's money, together with Barry Siegel, from the Promenade Trust and EPE, sided with cruel Michael Lockwood against Lisa Marie, signed a NDR the same day Lisa Marie was hospitalized and sued her granddaughters for money out of Lisa Marie's inheritance days after her funeral. Priscilla not only extorted her granddaughters for $1.400.000,- but also gets $100.000,- yearly for the coming 10 years for "advising" the Promenade Trust, which owns 15% of EPE, owned by Joel Weinshanker, who doesn't want Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu in Graceland unless she buys a ticket. Weinshanker also prevented Priscilla and Coppola from using Elvis' music for the film Priscilla because Lisa Marie strongly objected to the movie, that was co-produced by Priscilla Beaulieu, who invested $20 million in "her" movie. Millions she extorted from the Presley-family!

How is it legal for Priscilla to take back and use the Presley name 4 years after Elvis died 🤔. She got divorced and had to change back to her maiden name because Elvis wouldn’t let her keep the name for fame and royalties 😳, so Now I’m curious as to how she is legally allowed to keep his name after all these decades if Elvis was against her doing so 🤔. I googled and found this to be so and Priscilla couldn’t say in an interview why she went back to his name four years after his death if not for the money and fame 😢. What a shame this turned out to be considering i admired Elvis and her love story 😞 may he RIP and be with his daughter again ❤

It’s a family unit and having the same last name of the children is very important to them. As for keeping the Presley name Elvis was not upset at that. Red West made that up because Priscilla turned against him after he and the other so called friends wrote the book “Elvis , What happened?” I would never honestly believe Red West …. after what he did to Elvis .

I of course thought she was nuts and didn't know who the hell she's was talkin about till later but now I understand they were both part of her happy Era of life losing them hurt her and i became a elvis fan because my mom loved him now that my mom's gone Elvis is part of my happy Era too he reminds me if my mom. Priscila has NEVER in 45 years since Elvis's death, shown one iota of emotion when speaking about Elvis, and she has done a ton of talking, because Elvis became forever her bread and butter. Elvis's name and estate has made her a very wealthy woman. Look at her now, where is her grieving for her own daughter who has just passed away. Where is the loving grandmother rallying around her own grandkids to comfort console and support them after losing their mom. No no no , not our Cilla. Instead, she geared up before Lisa was even cold in her coffin, to contest Lisa's will and drag her granddaughter into court for battle over money and control of the Elvis estate. Bloody unholy woman.

She said she felt angry about it and blamed him for leaving them. She was a divorcee and Elvis had left her a decent amount of money for both of them. The whole world wept, but she felt anger. Her emotional quotient (e.q. rather than i.q) intelligence quotient seems to lack the compassion Elvis showed in his moments of grief! His death was so sad, at least his fans felt so! It seems so to me!

@@jerryjernigan673 Oh well put indeed. I would not have thought of defining Priscilla that way. You hit the nail on the head there. Her "emotional quotient" as you put it seems to be non-existent. I loved what you said, including your statement of the whole world weeping over Elvis's death, while she felt just anger. How telling, and what a great observation from you. Thank you for your comment. It was brilliant, because it was so exact.
@skel760

@@jerryjernigan673 Elvis didn’t leave a good amount of money, she sued him for that. In fact, he left her nothing. Not even in charge of their daughters inheritance. That was left to his father and grandmother to manage. When Vernon became ill, she ran right to that courthouse to be placed in charge of Lisa’s estate. Married 6y with ONE child and she raked him over and has been using this man’s death as a financial gain. One of his cousins described her in one word, “cunning”. I think she’s one of the most vain and self entitled women I’ve seen. The audacity and narcissism she has, thinking she owns everything and is entitled to everything Elvis.

No, it is totally normal to be angry at someone that they died. Most often they are actually not angry at the deceased person, but angry at it happened at all, but the feeling is of being left. When someone has been troubled by drugs, or doing other bad things like speeding and ends up dying in a car accident it is also totally normal to get mad at them for the person to risk their life. Normally this anger goes away rather quickly, it is just a stage of the grief process.

..I read his book, Elvis and Me, Priscilla describes exactly what he said in his book. hearing his voice and seeing his face highlights the love, the suffering of the memory of that day that shocked the whole world, let alone her and Lisa what it meant to lose Elvis. The reaction of Lisa, a little girl who loved her father and with whom she had spoken a few hours before he died, had entered her room because she still felt awake, is understandable. She had felt betrayed because she thought that nothing could ever happen to her father... In Priscilla's book one perceives all the love, the suffering for the loss of Elvis and the regret of having been too young and too alone... If Elvis had lived, they would surely have had another chance, this was Lisa Marie's greatest wish...maybe she felt betrayed because of this, because she dreamed of seeing her parents reunite and the loss of Elvis had shattered this dream. .. Be strong Priscilla, this time too, Elvis will be by your side and you will always do what is right. Prayers for you and for Riley, Harper, Finley, Danny and Navarone…Lisa and Elvis are watching over you all.

He looked fantastic and his demeanor was very calm and kind. In the dream I kept rejoicing that he had never died, that it was all a mixup and misunderstanding. The dream was so incredibly realistic I awoke with the biggest smile on my face Now we have the technology to bring his image back to life restored in 4k
