I am a person of colour, I am mixed race, my father was black and my mother was white and both were immigrants to this country in the 60's. Are there issues of racism in this country, yes, are there issues of gender biases, homophobia etc yes, these are issues that will be unfortunately found around the world in every country, does this excuse these issues? no, but it should put them into some sort of perspective, I don't believe that this country is some kind of stand out racist bigoted place, a beacon of hate and intolerance. I was born in this country, had a free state education, trained as a nurse which gave me a career in this country, was free to pursue any ambition that I wanted, felt that I had the freedom to express my opinions without fear or favour, felt that I was able to exercise my vote for the politician of the day. I have experienced the odd racist comment and I know many others have experienced racism from the minor to the major but I ask myself to what degree has this stopped me from acheiving? If some fool wants to express his/her racist attitudes then go ahead, just don't get in my way and all will be well. I personally do not trust Meghan Markle, I remember her saying in some interview that she paid her way through college when as far as I understand it it was her father who paid her way through college, she is estranged from him and her sister, when she broke up from a previous fiancee she apparently posted him his ring without even a call. She has apparently bullied a number of staff at the palace. She has I believe numerous PR firms she employs i presume to make sure she can create the perfect brand of herself, she uses the prime buzzwords of the day race and mental health which evokes everyones sympathy and outrage. Now much of what I am saying can be disagreed with, it is just my opinion based on some of the things I have mentioned but I believe I have the right to express that opinion as someone has the right to disagree with it. I am not a particular fan of Piers Morgan but I appreciate his willingness to express his thoughts freely and I understand his perspective on this particular issue, whether one agrees with it or not it is an honestly held belief and he should not be accused of being racist because of that belief. I suspect that other men and women of colour may hold a similar opinion but are to afraid of the woke crowd to put there heads above the parapet for the inevitable backlash they would likely receive.

I don’t understand everyone defending him about “free speech”. Isn’t he the one who walked off set refusing to hear the other side? And regardless of whether or not you believe her, saying you don’t believe someone is suicidal on national TV is a bad move no matter what. Plenty of people who were already scared to speak up just got knocked down even further. Free speech doesn’t mean free from backlash when you say something despicable.

The fact that he wants to defend his right to spout of anything he wants but flees the scene when the pressure is too much, shows that he shouldn’t have been in the business of covering stories. He isn’t cut out the be a reporter. I like how the the other two cohosts were simply laying out the facts and stating how the royal family has a lot to answer to instead of making bold claims. However for Piers to state that he believes what they say is completely false is just as bad as the reporters in America that put out their opinions when it’s not their place to do so.

@@sanserof7 I could honestly care less about the royal family. However I’m speaking on behalf of journalism. Journalistic integrity and free speech more often than not can’t go hand in hand. There’s a reason for why freedom of the press is its own right and that it isn’t just considered free speech. If news anchors could just say whatever they wanted and share their opinions whether it is biased misinformed, well we’d have we have now in mainstream media. And it’s for those reasons why people don’t like the press anymore. Journalists should simply state what they know about the situations they’re covering and nothing more. No personal insights, no ESPN-like discussion panels. Just give us the information. And if there’s investigative journalists, investigate everyone involved without bias. Morgan clearly has a bias against Markle and thus shouldn’t have been discussing this topic.

I dont think you have a firm grasp on free speech... you have the right to SAY whatever you want, but you dont have the right to have everyone LISTEN to what you are saying. That is *their* choice.
