Sam has said on a few occasions that he is more on introverted side. As an introvert myself, if someone I trust, would do most of the talking on my behalf, I’d be happy with that. He does put he’s opinion in. As long time friends, you do get a feel of the other person, and perhaps Caitriona knows what he is comfortable with and when he isn’t. Wonderful panel, thank you! So fun!

This is the best “interview” I’ve ever seen of these actors/producers! This actor/producer-led format is amazing. There’s no awkwardness from stranger interviewers, and the actors/producers are so much more relaxed and in their element. There’s so much new information here than in any other interview, very interesting stuff that they haven’t shared anywhere else. I wish it was longer! I could have watched hours more.

Absolutely fun to watch this. Joyous in fact. The dissing of Caitriona is sad just sad. So many people must be in love with Sam/Jamie and they seem to need to disparage the other half of why this show is so successful. When Caitriona calls Sam a 'ridiculous' man she is implying he is fun and silly and crazy all in a good way. They basically have a great time working together.

What makes the character Claire so incredibly resourceful is her interest and knowledge of botany. I don't know of any medical doctors I know today, and likely even fewer from the 1960's, who would be able to make their own equipment and pharmaceuticals. She is distinctly able in the 1700's, in addition to her healing knowledge.

I'm glad the showrunners caught that burning cross taboo. Cause when I watched the first episode, I immediately felt a little weird when they talked about clans burning crosses because it has been appropriated by hate groups, just like the colonial flag. It was a smart touch adding the Celtic element to it to avoid any backlash!

I think every book I read, forevermore, will feature Sam Heughan as the embodiment of its heartthrob. One of the most talented actors this earth has been graced with. And I'm bookish, with zero interest in pop culture -- it took Heughan to hook and drag me {joyfully} into the camp that books can be enhanced through artful acting. Heughan is also the sole reason this non-cable-tv watcher is currently paying for a Starz subscription... there's some kind of magic in that man.

Good lord people....they have jabbed at each other from day one. They actually ALL jab at each other in all of their interviews. Also if you notice, they have the ladies sitting on a couch with the men separated on chairs, kind of hard to show any friendly intimacy in this setting. But their body language definitely gives off a certain level of comfort and ease with each other. I don't believe that she is jealous of anything and they both will have career opportunities coming to them in the future. I also want to say (in my humble opinion) that I think Sophie and Roger have both really grown into their characters very well! Sophie played Brianna as a spoiled, entitled young girl in the beginning, so well that you actually believed it, and is progressing her character into a strong resilient (Frasier, lol) woman. So easy to dish out criticism instead of focusing on the incredible challenge it must be to bring the depth of Diana Gabaldon's characters to the screen. You can clearly see the closeness and respect they have for each other in all of their interviews. They all seem to be very much at ease with each other, and both Sam and Cait, clearly love and respect Sophie. Maybe we should follow their example and just sit back and enjoy all their hard work to be able to bring such an epic story to life! Big fan of all four! ❤❤❤

A lot of these interviews are watched by these same commenters and they know when it’s a bit unusual to see Catriona slightly diss Sam which it was, he even says a little thanks for that with no smile or look towards her and neither of them had looked at each other at that time because it was a bit rude a small jab and Catriona doesn’t usually do that, her jokes are fun and they both laugh this wasn’t it but they were a little bit more themselves as the interview goes on 🤷‍♀️ no one is intentionally trying to favor anyone it was an obvious fact by a familiar audience member simple no one dislikes Catriona for it but it was a bit unusual.

I agree so much with the female and make pleasure thing. It is so amazing to see them do this. Cait is so very smart and well spoken. One of the reasons why I love the show is that they are so progressive with many normally sensitive things. They do such justice to Diana's books. All the characters are not necessarily what I had envisioned, but how could they be...everyone's mind is so vastly different. They however do such an amazing job with the character development and acting that it overshadows any other idea of them from the books. Well done all on the show and thank you for bringing such great drama to television. It has seriously helped me work through so many emotions and trauma that I have experienced in my life, that is what avgood drama does.

The Ku Klux Klan has appropriated it from the Scottish after the movie, "Birth of a Nation" was released. When African Americans see a burning cross it strikes up fear and anger. Crosses burnings preceded lynchings, rapes or the burning and bombing of homes and businesses of black people.
@merelaine68
@merelaine68 4 жыл бұрын
@@elkaydoug8863 If you read African American prof. Thomas Sowell's history writings, it was ill educated Scots rabble who populated much of the American South so the burning cross was not appropriated "from" the Scots but repurposed BY Scots in America to less noble pursuits, assuming one thinks eternal clan warfare in Scotland was ever "noble". Clan fighting has been romanticized in literature and by Hollywood but warring against one's own tribe over small differences hardly seems wise. It may be a reason the English prevailed over the Scots.

Thanks for mentioning that Caitrona at 3:30 I find it a bit difficult to watch the parts with the cross burning etc. and was wondering about that esp with the name clan which is is Scottish vs. the other k@an. I love the series even though it brings up a lot of emotion esp. with the plantation despite it's beauty- realizing how it is maintained by slavery. I think the show did an great job of showing how even the aunt as the landowner was not in a position to oppose anything as it would create a violent backlash towards her. I love the sweep of the show, my fav so far was the costumes in the French period...

But simply "producer" as the credits say, generally means that on this season they had a saying in the creative process of their character's development. And they've talked about it in promos. It's interesting how culture ebbs and flows. In Jamie's time women seemed to be more accepted in the role of doctor since many times they were the only medical care available. When Clair went to med school in the 60's she was definitely ridiculed and shunned having to prove herself at every turn.

It all depends on the need of the time. When people are needed they’re welcomed and once they’re not necessary anymore they’re told to go back to where they came from. For ex. during plagues rich/poor died equally, like flies. All of a sudden bodies were required to help out with the disaster. So, poor were able to set prices and rich were willing to pay up. Afterwards there was a surface of middle class like never before. Poor learned their value and rich got busy pushing them back down again. During WWI and WWII women and coloreds were needed, so they were recruited. Even though they didn’t get the same resources or treatments as their counterparts. But after the wars they were basically told to go back to being the weaker versions of themselves as before. But they knew what they were capable of, so they rebelled. Which is why u have women’s voting rights after WWI and civil rights movement after WWII. We also used many other groups such as Mexicans on and off, Chinese during railroads building and mining on and off. Then there were millions of Indians that fought in WWI AND WWII, that were never even mentioned except for history books and government documents. In fact, Indians even paid billions of dollars for the war efforts and got kicked in the teeth for it after they ended. But they rebelled, and got their freedom few years after the end of WWII. Kinda like how we use Iraqi and Afghani interpreters, while they risk their families and then reneg on promise to give them usa citizenship after contract is over. Many examples in history. U just gotta look.

Listen, it was NOT Jamie’s fault, he didn’t have the wrong intentions when he beat up Roger, it was all a terrible misunderstanding. It was an honest mistake on Lizzie’s part as well, she didn’t intend to create the chaos that ensued. You know who’s actually to blame here? Brianna and Claire - for withholding a rather critical piece of information from Jamie, which was that Stephen Bonnett had struck again. Had they told him that at the onset, none of this would have happened. Obviously if Lizzie tells him “Jamie I literally saw that man attack Brianna”, and he doesn’t know about Bonnet, he’s going to beat up Roger. What else was he supposed to do, given that he had just been told Roger was the rapist and he hadn’t ever seen Roger before in his life?! Give him an open arm welcome to Fraser’s Ridge?! Wtf do they want from Jamie, give the guy a break.

I see SAM..thats what lead me to read the books..when I read the books it's more about the highlander warrior Jamie Fraser than Claire...so Ronald B Moore had to get Jamie right what this man went through(loved..The Scottish Prisoner)and the woman played off him..Dianna playing off the love of her husband...he was perfect. if you read the books first thought is Lord who would play Jamie and Sam's it....they thought he was another handsome face..turns out he quite intelligent and quite the entrepreneur and guide the spokesman for Scotland not just another handsome face...i think she may have felt a little intimidatedin the beginning cause it was all about him...it was supposed to be like that.. They're MAKING money and Sam is more a draw-in than CAITRIONA so instead of her chilling she became the talker person...we were watching her and she is very attractive or as she corrected Sam once"one of the most beautiful".... she would probably be liked more...they might have tried something in the beginning but I think it was Sam that had thing as opposed to having something to prove...she where and with whom she should be and I'm wish her all the best...just stay Claire a little longer.

Sam and Cait are completely different now in interviews. I do miss their happy flirtation. But in this one they didn't even bother to look at each other. Who knows why? We certainly don't. I think Cait is teasing him with that "My Jamie" comment because she knows millions of adoring women think otherwise. It's like calling a tall man Shorty. She said early on that she knew he was hot. Even so, for whatever reason, they do seem very disconnected in this video. It makes for slightly uncomfortable viewing. But they have to work together and will do what it takes even though they each may have changed over time.

Its a very Irish thing to 'slag' your friends, a form of teasing that involves sort of playful put downs, you onky do it with people you are comfortable with, as these actors are so comfortable with each other, its not personal, they do it in all the interviews. I remember an interview with Jamie, Dougal and BJR/Frank when the interviewer asked what would rhe first two have brought differently to Tobias's parts, and they both said 'size' which was a slag at their ripped bodies and Tobias being slimmer, but ge thought it was hilarious (being very happy in his own skin) So dont take it as an insult. It was Bri’s “fault” that Jamie mistook Roger for Bonnet. She never told Lizzie what happened!! I love this show. However, when Sophie/Bri entered the story I was very disappointed. The writing and direction for her character seems off. Her acting is subpar and by far the worst on the show! There are so many amazing actors out there it seems unfair to have cast her. Something seems weird with her being on the show. Is she related to someone in production? I feel bad for the other premium actors, all the other ones that is, that they have to work with this boring, ineffective actor. Whether you like Rogers character or not, Richard is also a fantastic actor. When Sophie is on screen I’m pulled out of the fantastical zone of the story and am very annoyed. I don’t know Sophie as a person so it’s not personal...just really bad casting IMO. Even my husband finds himself talking to the screen saying he hopes Bri goes away...we both also find her character as not as strong, intelligent, mature, modern and independent as it seems she is supposed to be. Again, is it the poor acting? Direction? Writing of her character? Ugh, just sticks out like a sore thumb to me. I like Richard/Roger. Wish they had paired him with a better actress and someone with who he had more chemistry. I would’ve been much better. Even in this interview she talks and sounds just like her character like she’s not acting at all in the show. Still love love love the show and I will try to deal with Sophie’s “acting” as we continue to watch.
