Years ago, when I was training, I had a full contact instructor that asked us to bring a white t-shirt for a sparring class. He then proceeded to give each one of us a board marker, or "knife"... and then asked us to practice any knife disarming technique we though we knew. At the end of the class, no t-shirt was white. His conclusion was that the best defense against a knife is to either run away, or hit first with all your strength to knock the opponent down at once. Fancy moves get you killed.

LOL, funny joke with the guy above, but the irony about this is Master Ken and the above guy is not that far off from the truth... In an actual Knife fight, it's highly unlikely that one would be able to grab the striking hand of someone doing a quick forward strike with a knife. The general "best" you can do in that actual situation is deflect it very briefly, and then you would need to do other things to further defend yourself.
@jamielondon6436

Here’s the real answer since this is just a parody: no. Ninjutsu does not work in a real street fight because it’s not designed for modern combat. It’s also been said by even jinichi kawakami (he’s like the only real and last ninja alive). He says he’ll teach some techniques to people just for the fun of it but keep most of them to himself because it’s not for the modern era and they’re not really worth teaching because of that. It’s just not so practical today like it was back then.

It's utterly baffling for me, that they seriously consider this a proper knife defense. Nobody is only going to stab once, they'll be pulling back so quickly, that you can't even catch them. Try this with chalk knifes and an attacker that isn't holding still after one stab and you're going to see, that this will just get you killed.

I will state my concern again, Master Ken needs way more subs and views. So much quality content that people are missing out on. @@silafuyang8675 You dont get much time to decide in that situation. The attacker has his other hand free and he can take the knife in his other hand if he want. The only things you get, doing this against a knife attack, are some slashed wrists, apart from getting stabbed of course.
@silafuyang8675
@silafuyang8675 3 жыл бұрын
@@safdarkh786 I understand what you mean. Of course being able to push him and run is a better option. As I wrote, kote gaeshi is a kind of a last chance. @@silafuyang8675 improvised weapons and/or something to use as shield with one hand and kicking/stomping him, are one option. Another option is to turn his knife against him using both hands, while continuing kicking/stomping him. Both can be much easily applied than kotegaeshi. @@db-jugg3r Looking at your comment history I'd say your expertise is trolling Master Ken's videos. We all have our talents I guess.

Which dojo did you go to? Unfortunately Ninjutsu has gotten ridiculous in terms of quality control. Once in a while you can find a gem, but... Don't even think about joining a dojo if the guy at the head hasn't had real fighting experience plus direct training with a Soke or Shihan that kicked his ass in 16 hour training sessions for a month.

@@teambattleground9076 And yours surly isn't martial arts, else you never would have taken "ninjutsu" for self defense ...

There is pretty much no chance that ninja technique would work on anyone with a knife, unless they were stumbling drunk, a child, enfeebled, so a combination of those.

If you catch the blade between the radius, and ulna, you have a lot more leverage, so you don't have to use two hands. Don't try to snap the blade, your ulna will give out long before that. Don't ask me how I know.
