There are men once they start breeding for the Kwizatz Haderach. The failed KH becomes a mentat like Count Fenring as well as Shadam Corrino the III. There have been others from the Royal Houses but because they wield the powers of the Bene Gesserit they are trained as Mentats as well to aid other Royal houses.

Was enjoying this.even tho I have only read the original Frank Herbert books UNTIL I realized that stuff I DID know was being inaccurately represented, such as Rev. Gaius Helen"s test of Paul being from the pain of the poison in the Gom Jabbar. (The idea that 'the box' was needed to hold the small poisoned needle was a bit of a give away that this was pretty stupid!), when actually the Gom Jabbar held a fast acting poison that would be used ONLY if Paul proved not to be 'human' by putting his hand IN THE BOX and which stimulated the nerves in the hand so that the tested person felt as if their hand was being charred to a crisp!. You could only prove yourself 'human' by having the extreme self-control NOT to pull out your hand. Crispy hand or death by poison ! The tested person didn't realize that they were not ACTUALLY being burnt until they passed the test and were allowed to remove their hand. Then we have the 'Water of Life', which according to the vid was the collected dying breath of a baby sandworm. WRONG AGAIN!! It was the water that a baby sandworm had been DROWNED IN! I'm sorry, but two REALLY basic mistakes from just one original book mean that - however cool the graphics - absolutely NO TRUST in the 'expertise ' that the content creator was SUPPPOSED to have. Also , don't think it's quite right to say that the Bene Gesserit could 'change the sex' of a fetus (actually pretty damn impossible if you wonder how they would be supposed to magic up a Y chromosome AFTER THE EVENT that had all the genetic information it had taken many generations to collect !) it was more that only a foetus of the desired gender would be allowed to be fertilized/implanted. Shiny but SLOPPY! Rather have less flash but more geniuine expertise !

What, no coverage for the Sci Fi Channel's "Frank Herbert's Dune" and "Children Of Dune" miniseries? The first, was directed by John Harrison (a credited "Dune" Parts One and Two as well as "Dune: Prophecy", Executive Producer) and the second was directed by Greg Yaitanes (3 season 1 episodes of "House Of The Dragon"). Harrison was also instrumental in facilitating Legendary obtaining the franchise rights from Richard P. Rubenstein, producer of the two miniseries. Major omission on your part, imo.

I was confused about that as well. Except for maybe the upgrade in CG video. I enjoyed those Sci Fi series probably more than what the new Dune movies are going to be. It delved into all of the houses and their characters lives. The political and spiritual. The new movies seem to just focus more on Paul and Chaney with fighting scenes. I hope I’m wrong and the upcoming movies will change and expand.

A couple of points: Firstly, “matres” is the plural (nom. and acc.) of the Latin noun “mater“, mother. This video creates the singular “matré”, which is just wrong. Secondly, the actress who played Mother Helen Mohiam in the 1984 Lynch film is Siân Phillips; “Siân” is pronounced ‘shaan’, not “see'an”. In addition, this video fails to explain the origin of the name of the Bene Gesserit, which is Latin for “well born”, the sense of “born” meaning “given birth” (as in Messiah (Handel) “For unto us a Son is born”. This etymological origin tells a lot about the function of the Bene Gesserit.

By the end of the stories, the Sisterhood had only about 15.000 of history. We should not mistake the Sorceresses of Rossak, lead by Zufa Cenva, for the Sisterhood of Rossak, created by Raquella after she was poisoned by Zufa’s daughter Ticia.

The Sorceresses were women native of Rossak, led by Zuca Cenva, who inherited genetic traits that rendered them with psychic powers that were used to fry the brains of Titans and cymeks, in the form of huge electromagnetic waves. The Sisterhood was later founded by Raquella, a descendant of Vorian Atreides, who was first a nurse and later a doctor who fought against the plague sent by Omnius, and who survived the poisoning with the Rossak Poison, in a murder attempt by one of the Sorceresses (Ticia Cenva). Raquella survived by transmuting the poison, which was how the later Sisters managed to survive their own agony to become Reverend Mothers. So, ok: both are bunches of weird women with twisted ways and capable of strange powers, but not the same thing.

My main cirtique of Dune is that the overarcheing Nietzian theme that humanity thrives and gets forged through hardship clashes a lot with their machinations in Eugenics and that more or less everyone seems related. Like we are talking about an expanded universse that puts our 9 Billion population to shame. Yet more or less everyone weather being Mentat, Space Guild or Bene Geserit or in the houses is related intermarried and cousins. This would as we know produce incels also it would produce lords who grew up in abudance with entitlement and privelage. I have trouble accepting these two thoughts and the more i read, watch and see the more this starts to annoy me. I know its just lazy writting in some way I mean Bene Geserit are decendants of witches/sourcerers from another planet yet the one who epands and starts the order is "drumroll" Raquela that just happens to have Atreidis blood same thing with Othrada. Given how much humanity expanded that some humans are genetically completley different from each other its still extremeley weird and feudal that humanity is controlled by 6-7 Lineages.... Even Game of Thrones and RR. MArtin who is probably the biggest Feudal Fetischist would throw in disclaimers like Jaime Lannister was the strongest swordsmen of the lords but pin him against someone like the mountain who is a lord by ruthless ascendancy and not by breeding programs and you got something else. You also have Bron who is a sell sword who can defeat most and you have of course the faceless assasins who are descecending mostly from Bravosi, If it would be Dune we would soon learn that all Faceless men who would Targaryans, Lannisters or Starks....

the reason Reverend Mothers couldn't access the memories of their male ancestors, but Paul could access BOTH male and female ancestors, is very simple. chromosomes. someone with XX chromosomes can only access ancestors with only X chromosomes. Paul, as a male, has XY chromosomes so can access both. presumably, any male that survived the Ordeal would be able to do it. i expected better from a Dune Lore video, your AI needs more training. it should have known this BASIC lore fact. do better.
