Ellie Vilendrer I googled you, you're the real deal, and in my state. I'll drop you a line if trouble comes knocking! As for the clip, it's when he says, "You're supposed to protect people," that gets to me the most. The writers and Pacino really put themselves in the character's shoes and it works beautifully!

I remember seeing this on cable back a few years or more after it was in theaters I was a teen then, and it really gripped me, about what our justice system really stands for , then and now. how unfairly just and cruel in the so called effort to rehabilitate. yes there are monsters whom deserve death, with no remorse, but further damaging those who could possibly redeem themselves, for petty crimes is barbaric! the system is cruel and unfair and itself needs to be reformed!

This scene is so well-earned. The build up of all Arthur goes through in this movie; losing both of his clients that deserved justice, his partner losing his mind, to his only living client not only being guilty but being the only one who had a chance of being vindicated. The scene also does such a good job of faking you out over and over, building the tension to the point that you can see Arthur's anguished tears as he restrains himself.

Eric Habener-That was what was great about the 1960's and 1970's , they actually had lawyers like that working for the people. One of the lawyers that worked for the people was ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) attorney William Kunstler. He was one of the laywers that represented the inmates in the Attica Prison riots in 1971.

This is one of the great scenes in the movies. Beautifully written, acted, and directed. Everyone shines here: Al Pacino, of course, but also Craig T. Nelson, John Forsythe, Jack Warden, and Teri Wootten (as Leah Shepard, the victim). According to legend, Pacino practiced this "You're out of order!" scene at least 26 times on the set and they filmed the speech many times until it was as close to perfect as it could be. They've succeeded.

You know why I like these kind of movies so much: once upon a time, not very often, justice is served in real life too. But most of the time is the guilty party acutely guilty but set free(or a small sentence) because in the American justice system, it all depends how much money you have to spend on the best lawyers and poor people can not, even if they are innocent. Bless my country because we don't have such a system.
