I love how organized (and simple) your curriculum is! I wonder if y’all have difficulty motivating the girls off camera to perform at the same caliber? Our level 3s are big goofballs (lol) and, by no fault of theirs honestly, have had a lot of inconsistent coaching over level 2. So we struggle a lot with having them consistently put forth effort during practice. We have a big group (around 15 girls) and try to positively motivate them, but they’re always spacing out or not paying attention n.n. Sometimes I think it’s because they’re conditioned to fear-motivated coaching. Haha that was rambley, but basically how do y’all handle days when they aren’t super motivated (especially on side stations).

Just did another live video today where we addressed some of these things and how we combat them. Consistent training, coaching styles and gym culture definitely help with this. Stay the course, don’t get frustrated with the gymnasts, spend time after every practice reflecting on what would have helped planning wise. Constantly reward effort.

May I ask what is required for your girls to move up to L3? Also, what is your ratio?

We rate each of their skills from zero stars to three stars. They must have a certain percentage of level 2 stars, as well as be able to do all of their level 3 skills to move up. We typically have one coach for anywhere up to 11 or 12 kids and sometimes we have a helper to facilitate mat moving/another spotted station. We prefer 1:6 but sometimes 1:12 is just necessary.
