That last business has the right idea, that was a really clever and cool offer for any "influencer": buy something from our store and we'll give you a discount code to give followers and when a certain amount shop and log your code you get your money refunded. How cool is that?! I love it.
@bakingwonders24243 жыл бұрын
I thought that as well. I'd rather buy the products first and then go back to the store and say "I really love this ____. Would you be happy if I made a video review of it and promoted your store as well?". I'd just be happy they said yes let alone if they gave me a refund when so many people bought the product as well. I'd love to do business this way but I'm just starting my channel, so nowhere near ready. If I ever do make it big, can someone please smack me upside the head very hard with a baseball bat? What if I provide the frame? Can you take £15?' like... Babe it takes me at least 2 hours to produce a piece - when you tally up the frame, the fact I'm a master in my field and my time it ain't even close... Stop asking artists to cut prices. For real. People like that make me so mad, and lets me know that they have NEVER been to an art gallery or appreciate real art. Because even local galleries and small shops sell small 5in × 7in paintings for $250 MINIMUM. So when i price a goddamn 3ft × 4ft oil painting for $350-$400, its a STEAL. I've always told people who want to take advantage of me to check out a local gallery or any other online art of sumilar size and medium and then tell me what they think of my price. Anybody who doesn't appreciate a good priced, original piece, doesn't deserve to own it!!

@bararobberbaron8593 жыл бұрын
I think it's a result of brands and companies shifting advertising priorities and suddenly having much more money for digital marketing. They then step to a bunch of bigger influencers, and do a sort of 'collab' although it's more just an ad. Some big influencers got so many deal offers they had to turn some down. Smaller influencers probably figured 'well, if they don't come to me, I guess I will go to them' and some were succesful. And as you can see especially well with memes, once a new thing is done, the next day everyone is doing it. And when someone with 2 million subscribers can get 50% discount on a meal they fully feature in their video for a minute or more, smaller influencers started asking for larger discounts. And now you have people with 3000 followers asking for free stuff.

When I said, "sorry I only have one thing and was in line first, it makes no sense for me to wait for you...like waiting at a green light so other people can turn right on red." She was not happy, she insulted me and started to call me ugly (while her bf? laughed sort of amused) and then went into how popular she is on IG. As she kept babbling her man starts laughing and drawing attention (I am introverted in public) so I step within inches of his face and say to him "if your woman insults me with one more irrelevant word I will give you your most painful IG story of your life, now look at the floor or you will be eating my fist". As I finish paying the girl at the register who heard the whole thing (and I can't tell if she was serious or just helping to piss off the entitled couple) she says "I can't believe you never called me back, I waited forever for you", I don't know her so sort of played along and said "ohh I broke my phone and it was the only place I had your number". She smiles writes her number down and says make sure you call me this time...then as I walked away as I heard her say "sorry, I am going on break, register 7 is open." I don't know where but I lost the girls phone number before I even got home so I never called it and still don't know if she was interested or if she was just trying to help me annoy some aholes but as I look back...I realize that I probably lost a keeper. I get that it would be very difficult to maintain honestly, but I wish there was a standalone public feedback forum for influencers and promoters, where not only could companies post their experiences with (attempted) collaborations with influencers, but consumers could post their experiences with said promotions as well. Not only could you more easily determine if the influencer is selling you trash, but if they were trash themselves!

The word "influence" is going to take on a new meaning. It will be something along the lines of "be a pain in the ass". That is my prediction!
@seanh14624 жыл бұрын
Good guess, I would have seen "influencer" translating to "free loader"

My niece has a nice fancy bakery. In Minneapolis Minnesota. And had a influencer with a little less then a thousand followers asked for a free 5 tier wedding cake for her wedding that was 7 days away FOR FREE. With edible beading on all 5 tiers and 12 sugar glass roses scattered across the cake. She ignored the request. Then the next day she actually called. And my niece let her know that there was no way. Between the cost of ingredients and the time and effort and the sheer size of the cake she wouldn’t do it. But wished her all the best. When my husband and I renewed our wedding vows this past summer. I PAID her for her time and effort and the cost of the ingredients. And all I had was a sheet cake with a small topper cake for the bride and groom. She didn’t want to take it. But I told her to consider it as I support her product and her business so shut up and take the cash.

The whole influencer thing is sad. If a business comes to you and wants an endorsement then you may be considered an influencer as something you have done influenced them to contact you, but if you contact them then you are just a beggar.

This is the same as the "It'll be great exposure" routine musicians get all the time. It's comforting to know people are trying to screw over folks they way people they to screw me over.

I can’t believe that influencer got so nasty with that nail tech! How could she insult the nail tech’s children just because she wouldn’t do it for free? That was such a tantrum and it was embarrassing to read.

"Influencer." Calling yourself an influencer sounds like narcissism to me. And demanding free stuff sounds sociopathic.

A worked at a 5 star Italian restaurant one summer and we hosted a fashion blogger party and NO ONE ate 👀👀 Literally the day before, the boss told all the cooks and servers to pack Tupperware for this party. Sure enough, I went home with a pound of prosciutto, fancy balsamic chicken, and a ton of fancy salad. Everyone took home at least one big container of food lol.

Charlotte, I wish you and yours a wonderful new year! Thank you for all your hard work. You really brighten me and my wife's day.

A UK high class expensive restaurant (can't remember the name) told an entitled influencer, who wanted a free meal for several people, to F-off in the hilarious way (This would have easily cost thousands of pounds). (Paraphrasing) They said if they had several million followers, ON JUST ONE SOCIAL MEDIA PLAFORM, then they could talk about a "discount", but anyone below 50k followers over ALL social media platforms (which is what this Influencer had) would be laughed out of the door by every business in the world.
