Story 1: Get out of there ASAP... and fast! If the OPs mom will forcably take away the baby for something trivial like that, then i would grow eyes in the back of her head and soon. The OP's mom definitely sounds like one of those crazy grandparents that will try to run off with the baby and claim "grandparents rights". Story 2: Learn to listen and take directions. At the hospital where i live, they have special coloured dots on the floor to direct people to certain wings and areas... as this hospital can be a major maze. Story 3: OP is not a jerk. That was a gerat comeback. Story 4: OP isnt a jerk here.... some bad luck with the nosebleed, i know that feeling, but why would Sarah think you ghosted if you left your stuff there? Doesn't make sense to me. Also, if you both had been drinking, you both could've gotten a cab or something. Story 5: Just because they are family/siblings, does not mean that they should be allowed to come to the wedding on those grounds. If the OP wants to re-consider, it would be best to meet up with him like a month or 2 beforehand, and if he had changed, then hiring security would be smart, but if not, then screw him.

I understand not wanting to have your wedding day ruined but I also understand that it's his brother and even if he is a jerk to not invite your own brother is kind of a big deal like the other person said maybe his change Maybe set up some sort of casual get together with him beforehand to feel out what kind of person he is now to see if it'll still be an issue and like the other person suggested have a security guard so if he tries to start something big can be ended quickly
@kingyosh3183

Nope. Its totally understandable that the jerk brother dont get invited. Its her wedding day and if she really insisted not inviting him, there is deep dislike in there. She just wants her wedding to have no possible risk. If I had a jerk of a brother whom I also dislike and thinks that he'll cause an incident or just ruin the mood, i probably wont invite him too to not ruin my and my fiances wedding. If it doesnt get settled yet then delay the wedding before grudges amd issues are settled. Better yet dont get any wedding at all if issues like this keep reappearing possibly. Whos to say that after the wedding, things go worse? Like having the jerk brother going to your own place any time or in their own little family occasions where he ruins the mood and feels entitled.

The first story, the 19 year old mom is an immature child. She can't be told what to do? She can't support her self or the baby and doesn't know not to sleep with the baby???? What grandma did is wrong, but it's her house and she is providing a home for both of them. Whole family needs help, but especially that 19 year old. She needs to grow up and get some life skills fast.

It's funny that no one realizes the grandmother actually can do this. She can even kick the daughter out and leave the baby there. It's called grandparents' rights. It's not kidnapping. A grandparent can take a child from the parent if the parent is unfit. It honestly sounds like the mouthy is unfit.
@cake94309
@cake94309 Жыл бұрын
@dutchden80 ah grandparents rights don't do much unless the grandparent can prove the parent is incapable of caring for their child and/or is neglectful. My daughters grandmother tried this when I refused to let her toxic ass near my daughter and she was laughed out of the police station, she tried to take me to court and was practically laughed out of court as well. Because the grandparents haven't done anything to try and claim their "grandparent rights" she can charge them with kidnapping

@@cake94309 it sounds like your situation was much different from the OPs. The grandmother here actually removed the child from a dangerous situation and merely took the baby to another room in the same house. It sounds like grandma could have called CPS on the mom, gotten custody of the baby and kicked the mom out. The mom couldn't support them. I really hope she was getting some kind of jib training. Hair school doesn't take that long and you can make 6 figures once you build your way up to a big client base and get into nicer and nicer salons. The mom is about to get some tough life lessons.

Story #1 - The best solution is for the OP to get her own place. She clearly stated that she has an issue with any authority yet is not paying the cost to be the boss. Also is very immature if her first thought was to start calling names etc. And what do we call a female that is grown that lives at home with her mother still? You know how females call men Man-Child when he still lives at home. Last Story - Why do females think that they are the sole person that can say what happens at a wedding? So the groom is just their as what a place holder? I am so glad that my fiancé is not like that and WE are making plans together. The OP's response is like she is talking to a child and he has no say in the matter.

I can understand this. Sounds like both sides are in the wrong, the mom shouldn’t use the kid as a bargaining chip. But the op comes across as entitled saying “you know I don’t respond to being told what to do”. In most stories you are only getting one side of things so I don’t know if the op is stretching the truth or not, but it sounds like her room could have been worse then she was letting on and we just aren’t getting the whole story.

OP doesn't like people telling her what to do? @@KC-nx8ol exactly!!!! We live in a society where young people are spoiled, lazy, disrespectful, entitled, and just pure garbage. If you still living under your parents roof but don't contribute to the household, then you most definitely gonna follow their rules. And if one of those rules is you gotta keep your nasty room clean then it is what it is. And the fact that you brought a baby into the equation makes it even more important. Last Story, I'd handle it like this. Essentially tell him he can come under these conditions. 1. He must be sober. 2. He cannot drink or use drugs. 3. He cannot be anywhere near that brother. 4. He will be on his best behavior. I'd also ask around in your friends group. See if anyone knows someone or has done security in the past. Or hell sometimes Off duty cops will do it. Specially if your more rural areas for some extra dough.

Now that doesn’t excuse what he said but I don’t think it’s really right to complain about owners having a drink after they finished working for the day.

I mean op gave herself away when she said she doesn't like respecting authority. How much you want to bet she doesn't have a job and the father of her child is a less than stellar guy. I'm sorry but if you are an adult and making adult decisions, then you have to be an adult and accept the consequences. So everyone says call the police for the first story for kidnapping. I figured I'd explain why that won't work. There is a law called grandparents' rights. Part of that right is that a grandparent can take a child from the parent if the parent is being unfit. They can even keep the parent away from the child if it's proven that the mother is unfit. The mother is not cleaning and sleeping with the baby and can't afford to take care of the child. That's all the grandparents will need to win any fight with the law. So, no kidnapping. Calling the cops could actually hurt the mother more than help. I also agree with someone else about the cleaning. If it takes more than 30 mins to clean a 10 by 15 room, the room is not slightly dirty it's trashed.
@dragonfliesnh4204
@dragonfliesnh4204 Жыл бұрын
Laws called "grandparents rights" do not apply everywhere. Not every state or country has them and laws greatly vary. Usually in an area where Grandparents rights is actually a law, this would be in effect if the children are being abused and/or neglected and the parent has been found incompetent of taking care of their children. Just because someone has a home that is a bit messy, it doesn't mean the parent is unfit and they deserve to have their children taken away. If house is unsanitary and unsafe, then that's a different matter completely. Taking a child from the parent without consent is kidnapping. Having a little bit of a messy room is not a reason for kidnapping and holding the baby hostage until their demand of ransom is met. The OP should call the police to file a report if her child is being kidnapped by another person. If there are concerns about the home being unsanitary, then the grandmother should call the police or CPS to file a report. They will do an assessment and take proper action if needed. It's not up to the grandmother to decide this just because she doesn't like that the room is a little messy.
@thefanofeverything5039
@thefanofeverything5039 Жыл бұрын
Yeah when the mom said her room was just a little messy it made me think she might be stretching the truth about that, since in most cases we only get the Op’s side of the story. And she does come across as entitled with how she describes herself in her own story. I feel like they are both at wrong and both in a tough spot. The mom should learn to clean her room if she is living in her grandmother’s house, and the grandmother shouldn’t use the kid as a bargaining chip or threat. But if the mom calls the cops what happens to the house or the grandmother. Sorry if this message is jumbled or rude in any way, the first story just sounds like two entitled people. I saw a lot of commenters going “if it was my kid” or “if that was me”, but it wasn’t you. It sounds like a lot of people are projecting their feelings into the story as the op, when they can’t trust the entire story and don’t know the whole situation.
@thefanofeverything5039
@thefanofeverything5039 Жыл бұрын
First story it sounds like both sides are in the wrong, the mom shouldn’t use the kid as a bargaining chip. But the op comes across as entitled saying “you know I don’t respond to being told what to do”. In most stories you are only getting one side of things so I don’t know if the op is stretching the truth or not, but it sounds like her room could have been worse then she was letting on and we just aren’t getting the whole story.

So a mother's in the wrong for not wanting a psychopath to take her child cool a little of the other kidnap people know how you feel. First story: My house, my rules, my standards. Support yourself and your child in your own home with your own key to the door, then nobody will be able to interfere with you anymore. I would not do that as a grandmother, but also with the attitude of “I don’t like being told what to do” she wouldn’t be living in my house. Kid or no kid. If you’re old enough to make the choice of engaging in behavior that produces children, then you’re acting as an adult. Adults don’t live with mommy…..

@@calebhill3446 While this is true you just said the main point. That being ‘history’ meaning OP *should* be able to have made proper arrangements. Also at the end of the day it *is* the mom’s home so her roof her rules (regarding entering the room and the level of cleanliness expectations not taking the child). Also OP does not help themselves or act like an adult by ignoring directions when given. That is the behavior of teenagers not a 19 year old adult who has a child and wants to be treated like an adult. There is alot more to being an adult then just working.
