@cris4ever708 ай бұрын
The worst thing while dealing with these type of people is the realization that they *truly* don’t believe they did something wrong. You can sometimes even see the confusion. The absolute certainly in their eyes that the messed up situation they find themselves in is *not* their fault. Even when everyone else can see it clear as day. Yep, no remorse, because they don’t even get what they did wrong. It’s like trying to get an apology from a teaspoon.

OP did the right thing at every turn, unlike a few AITA stories where those OPs feel guilty for not giving in to ridiculous demands and making their abuser upset, then post an update later saying how they got screwed because they let their guard down or didn't take obvious precautions. About the only warning I'd give OP would be prepared for them to try and cause issues where you work, with their goal being to get you fired so that you cannot support yourself, and thus have to come back and accept their ever so gracious terms for hospitality.

@@ministerofpropagandaindoct4966 This story may possibly be fake, but there are some people out there who can say they've had similar experiences, and there are police officers and CPS workers who have to deal with even worse cases on a regular basis. Regardless of their legitimacy, I believe these stories have value as morality tests, in what is socially acceptable behavior both in the start of a conflict and how someone retaliates, as well as learning how to advocate for yourself. The story may be fake, but parentification, gaslighting, emotional blackmail, and all other forms of abuse exist.

7:57 - 9:34 I highly doubt that would have ended well for the mom, even if the OP had answered the door. I mean ... what exactly did she think was the law, here? That as long as the kids are with the OP for even a split second, he literally HAS to stay by their side, whether he likes it or not, lest he be guilty of child abandonment himself, even though he never agreed to babysit at all? If the law does indeed force the last remaining adult to stay with the kids, regardless of parental or other obligations, and you effectively FORCE the OP to babysit whether he likes it or not, then that sounds like a violation of the OP's 13th Amendment rights to not be forced into involuntary servitude.
