New MBTI statistics believe ENTJs to be the most rare type. So in honour of the most rare personality type, let's talk about the ENTJ stereotype! What was true and what was false in today's video and what do you agree with or dislike in the ENTJ stereotype?
Hey! My name is Erik Thor, and thanks to all the help from my viewers and patreons at patreons.com/erikthor I've been able to build a living on the side of my part-time job making videos about different personality types. I seek to cover Carl Jung and the sixteen personality types in the MBTI from an original perspective. I believe there are sixteen, not eight cognitive functions. I write about them at www.erikthor.com/cognitive-functions.
I also develop successful personality tests that can accurately predict your personality type. www.erikthor.com/test/personality-test with high accuracy. Try it out and share your results with me!
Why do I do it? Because I want to spread more flow and happiness in the world. I believe we spend too much time going against our own true nature, denying ourselves nad pretending to fit in. We should break free and find ourselves and find a lifestyle more suited to our needs and values. If we can do that, the world will be a better place, for everyone. Join the community @ / discord

My husband is an ENTJ and he is absolutely incredible. He has amazing emotional intelligence, but he also will not allow himself be pushed around. Yes I have to be careful not to tell him my "plans" because before I know it, he will have started that project and I'll be swept along! He has never applied for the jobs above him, he was always seen as the person who was the obvious choice and promoted over and over. He's very forgiving, and yes, he can put up with people for the sake of his network...they'll be useful later, but he will still do anything for them too. He stuck with me when we were going through hard times in our marriage, I'm a difficult "emotional" infj at times, but he loves me anyway. I'm blessed by my relationship with my ENTJ.

I am ENTJ, and I have said the words, "I am Inevitable," lol. I am not a psychopath, I have some sociopathic tendencies, but I'm not one. I never went through the greed phase, I've always wanted to share. I am an ENTJ squared, both my parents were ENTJ, so my upbringing was all about tactics. I knew business, and how to make pungi stakes by 9, lol. I have never fit in anywhere. Rationality is dying out, which is why ENTJ are becoming more rare. I chose my spouse based on her genetics, and my son is ample evidence that I chose correctly. After I chose her, love eventually developed. I have 0 problem apologizing, if I am in the wrong. My wife has 100% access to my resources. My wife is an ENFJ, and I think a perfect match for me.

I am quite strong (enfj) but he is titanium. I also have a friend entj - the same story. It's a stereotype that it's a psychopathic personality. They are loving helping people with great strength. I am a 58 year old ENTJ and agree with 85% of with what you said. I have a hard time with playing nice with other people in work settings when people don't want to try their best and work efficiently. I realize this is my issue and I do struggle with it all the time so I have learned that I need to work alone most of the times. But it is hard knowing that I think different than others. I do understand that I can be so out of control of my emotions and I believe it is from my childhood and or co-dependency issues. It is hard for me to ask for help with just about anything so I tend to continue going down the same rabbit hole time after time. Another great video Erik!

We are relentless, keep in mind MBTI and functions are more about how you treat the world, and perceive things, and what motivates you, or where you come from mentally/emotionally, it doesn't really say anything about what you do, or are capable of. I have a strong cognitive science background, and highly developed empathy at this point in my life(early 30's), but I abandoned it as a career path because I have no interest in dealing with the problems of strangers, or people who annoy me. Now I use what I've learned for self-mastery, and helping others that I either care for, or find worthy of assistance(roughly based on a combination of whim, moral-alignment, and their own degree of tangible exertion of effort). Next goals are personal investments, patents, side-projects, and a degree in Biomedical Engineering.

In terms of difficulties with others, the biggest problems I find are: People seemingly feeling insecure by comparison, and seeking to 'prove you're full of shit', or to tear you down out of jealousy. Having a tendency to be hyper-critical, not regarding it as a bad thing, and to enjoy criticisms as a source of efficiency, or as merely a cognitive process, and not an emotional one(probably the biggest source of conflict with others). However, prizing objectivity, and obviously directing these same things inward in a way that is apparent to others, helps temper this 'somewhat'. I would hate to speak for others, but at least for myself, I don't feel emotions unless they're very strong and overwhelm my ability to maintain control/comfort. If they are less potent, and tied to things I hold particularly strong value attachments to(frustration for wasted time/effort, judgment of unfairness/pettiness for negative emotions) even lesser negatives can affect me, and for positive things they have to be things I 'both' feel 'and' rationalize(not someone blowing smoke up my ass with a complement I disagree with, small acts of kindness are particularly valued, or compliments about 'noble' acts on my part, or well-thought reassurances about failures, or even teaching me something new, or being receptive towards my help/consideration). Thankfully being so helpful and supportive/useful, as well as genuine/sincere, and honest, tends to make people put up with me being 'rough around the edges' as I call it, or even perhaps a bit 'intense' or overbearing at times. I find I have a tendency to be a polarizing figure, with most people either strongly appreciating me as a positive force in their lives, and enjoy quite a bit of personal popularity, or people absolutely loathe and demonize me, to an almost comical degree, even to the point of acting reckless or totally uncharacteristic of themselves in response. While this can be a bit of a pain to deal with(especially with the resultant social fallout among more feeling types who don't grasp apparent social dynamics as well), it is pretty useful because it saves a lot of time and energy in being selective of others, since people tend to 'show their cards' pretty damn quick after enough exposure to me, and the rest are easy enough to suss out. I feel like also mentioning, that despite efficiency being an overwhelming concern of mine, I tend to be quite verbose with my explanations, but the disappointing truth of that is, this is all second-nature to realize, but incredibly difficult to break-down and relate to others(at least for me), so the lack of succinct explanations can put others off as well, in my experience at least.

I did not know that ENTJ is now considered the rarest. As an ENTJ female, I heard that we are the rarest, like an INFJ male. I certainly felt different as a child, it was hard to make female friends. I had trouble relating to their girly emotionality and they didnt seem to like me either, except for my one or two good friends. On the outside, I appeared confident, sure of my self. But inside, I wasnt sure that I was likeable. As a much older woman now, I am quite comfortable in my own skin, I realize what my strengths are, and am very aware of my weakness. It wasnt easy having a more "masculine" personality in the years that I was young.

@Dude Sweet I believe that Karl Jung did that study on the rarity or common types and that other studies were done later as well, but i have not studied that, so i cannot be certain. In the many years that I have been interested and studying MBTI, I have always heard that INFJ is the rarest type, like 1.5% of the population. ENTJ is like 3%, I believe. Woman of this type are not as common as men, and it makes sense since the attributes of this type are quite “masculine”. (The commander). I dont relate to all the attributes like being a workaholic, or a leader of groups-(I have never had the situation where I managed others), but most of it does sound like my personality.

@@susankievman642 not being a workaholic is fine as long as you work smart. About the leadership idk maybe youre not an entj. @@DoraTheDestroyerrr I know that you do not know me, but I do not rely on those online tests. I have been studying MBTI for many years now, reading books, watching youttube videos and learning about cognitive functions. I am definitely an ENTJ, but women ENTJ's present differently in the world. I was raised in the 50's and 60's. We were not expected to be breadwinners or head of corporations, or entrepreneur self employed. Leadership? I will step in for sure if I see a lack of leadership and I cannot work for a leader who is weak or lacking in skills. I have been a commissioned saleswoman for over 40 years. I dont like working for a corporation for a wage. My emotions are my weakest function, and I love abstract thought, word play, metaphors etc. I am a bit unconventional and hate dumb rules. ( ESTJ's are rule followers, not me!) Efficiency is my middle name and I only entertain things that make sense.
@susankievman642
@susankievman642 3 жыл бұрын
@@DoraTheDestroyerrr The other thing that I have learned is that whatever type that you are - although you share the cognitive stack as others in your type, your behaviors can be different. We are all influenced by many other factors- like the culture or country that we grew up in, the time or era of our upbringing, the birth order in our family, and our DNA. We can be psychologically damaged and acting in our alter ego state or "in the grip" as I have heard it described. My demon functions are ISFP as an example when I am under stress. Gender plays a role too. When I said I didnt put myself in leadership roles, I meant in business or organizations. As I think of leadership, it can mean someone who wants to be in control and help other people with the knowledge and wisdom that they have gained in life. That is definitely my position that I take with my family and friends. So maybe I am a leader but never defined it in the way the literature does!

27 year old ENTJ here- for years and years I honestly thought there was something wrong with me. Some practical advice for anyone out there struggling with self doubt: 1) Useful resources- check out Psychocybernetics, Relentless by Glover and Can't hurt me by Goggins. These books in combo will help with self image and doubts that have been placed there by other people. Additionally check out David Snyder on youtube for self image work. Its labelled as Law of Attraction stuff, which was a bit too woo woo bull shit for me BUT..... I tried it and its worked, and its worked consistently with removing negative memories or beliefs that others put in me whilst going through puberty. Give it a try. 2) Be careful using empathy as a strategy to understand and build relationships alone. People will misuse your kindness and you are doing covert contracts where you are expecting people to just be loyal to you because you've done x, y, z for them. Don't do this. It will fuck you in the long run. A resource here is to learn social engineering by CS Joseph on youtube. Check out his channel, its amazing. 3) For young guys out there who are ENTJ's, be very hesitant in getting into a relationship. It will slow you down the majority of times, and until you know who you are, and accomplished some of the things you want to do, i would not reccomend it. Worst case scenario is your relationship will break up and the child aspect of you that just wants people to care and love you will be wounded, and in even worse case scenarios your child aspect will feel betrayed because you will chalk things up to helping your partner with a list of x, y, z and they just used you and took advantage (or at least thats how you will interpret it). Hope this helps.

What you said about not needing help from others, not needing PR, not needing to CHEAT, basically, to get ahead.....because we get ahead on STRENGTH--it's true. I have been in situations where I was the only person on my side, but I KNEW it was the right side, and was proved right. Once, in high school, I had the entire clarinet section against me, saying I was playing a certain passage wrong, and they were all right because they all agreed with each other. It was 30 to 1, and I did not endear myself to them by arguing that since I was the best player, I was more likely to be playing it correctly. When we called over the band director, of course I was right. But even without that validation, I KNEW. It's been the story of my life. :-)

I am a female entp. I also felt I was different and I was told that you are weird. My ex-boyfriend is an entj. Yup, he invested in me and give me a lot of challenges. And those challenges make me do magic things. I am grateful for it. However, I have to leave him because he is an unhealthy entp and he is bullying me. After I have done magic things, he said he is the reason for the magic things so I must obey him, obey him, obey him, which is my nightmare.

I am an ENTJ but imposter syndrome let many INTPs and myself to believe that I was an INTP. It also led few people and myself to believe I was an ENTP. Finding out I was one of those outgoing extroverts helped a lot. Mainly cause I have a clearer goal in my head. And I noticed many issues I had and now I can better differentiate between my personality and my anxiety.

An unhealthy entj is someone most want to keep at arms length. Obnoxious, unreasonable and bullying. I was there and I'm a female. I just started a relationship with a sweet isfj man that arouse all the silly childish side and the feminine side of me, so much so to the point of me ignoring my.Te + Ni that defined me in all my adult life. But I'm living it. Any advise for this combination?

Im an ENTJ female and i married an ISFJ and for a time it was wonderful.. but theyre not very rational. As with all relationships, and you know this, its more important for each person in the relationship to have emotional intelligence, boundaries and neutral conflict resolution skills. Without attacking the other person, to be able to discuss the behavior or question the other within a "safe" environment. Statistically, ENTJ + ISFJ is the most common pairing bc ISFJs are so numerous. ISFJs have a tendency to be paranoid, fearful, have high anxiety, hypochondriacs.. theyll let you lead because theyre background types, and if you do anything with rationale over whats necessarily "good" theyll judge you for that and communication can break down. I'm now with an INTP, and it is astounding the difference, also a background type, but very intellectually oriented over that ISFJ faith and fear aggressive and passionate crap. My INTP is amazing for supporting my inferior functions, he presents me with logical arguments for or against something. He remembers things for me, reminds me of things.. boosts my massive ego all the time, all in all is like a missing puzzle piece to make my weaknesses into strengths. Ooh and hes proactive, and intentional. Whereas my ISFJ ex was more of a, only if he was explicitly obligated to do something would he do it.. but he definitely had gender role brainwashing and I wasnt down for that. If you want a lot of work, maintain an ISFJ pairing. If you want to grow, find you some kind of nerd INTP somehow.. theyre essentially a unicorn, but worth finding. Mine is a fishing nerd, so they dont all have to be pasty, weird, and unwashed. Nerds come in all forms. Good luck to you. Theres my 2 cents.

@@malindaeckert2300 from one ENTJ to another, you're strong enough!How can you blame the relationship failing just one person and their ISFJ personality. Nothing lasts forever, he probably never changed but it became an issue for YOU. Either it was a lesson you had to learn or all ISFJ are garbage. Which answer is more realistic?
@malindaeckert2300

@@gaelntore4758 @Gael Ntore well, i didn't explicitly say the relationship failing was entirely due to our personality types, but to that point, life is rarely ever so black and white. Choose to see the grey, or the neutrality in things and you won't get so triggered at my comment.. or put another way, practice double deciding instead of just single deciding. Conjecture isn't useful here either. (I'm referring to your use of "probably") You don't know me, and you don't know my ISFJ ex. ISFJs aren't all bad, in fact no type is, inherently anyway. Each type has their strengths, and in my experience, my ex was very unhealthy (due mostly from his very toxic (narcissistic/borderline?) mother, and his upbringing of damn near neglect..of course those could be his skewed anecdotal narratives, but either way his personality was chaotic and very much relevant to his cognitive wiring. On a good day, ISFJs are fiercely loyal, protective, Long suffering, enduring, faithful people.. poetic even. But with that coin, comes a lot of fear.. and fear is, well.. irrational most of the time. And that bugged me that he couldn't see positive potential in things.. and instead seemed to default to homeostasis, stagnation, consistency.. The same traits that make them so loyal, and steadfast.. Are also what makes them incompatible with me. I like change, growth, progress, moving towards a goal.. adapting, growing. Those things scared him. Stressed him tf out. I didn't know his type then, only what I observed, and only now have been able to articulate through the framework of typology's cognitive function stack. Which is the greater mercy in that scenario.. should i have stayed, and kept triggering his fear side.. continuing to make him subconsciously feel like i thought less of him for his immovability? Or leaving so that he could grow with someone else that'd make him much happier than I could.. a lovely ESFP perhaps. The point is, my anecdotal, isolated experience of that particular ISFJ was vastly more complex than i could fully illustrate in this thread. I know other ISFJs now (my INTP guy's mom, actually) who present differently, but still with that same ISFJ base nature. Im a double feminine ENTJ.. you may have one or both of your top functions as masculine.. and so you and i arent going to see eye to eye even though we're both ENTJs. Theres more variety than just the core 16 types, but my point was that an ISFJs core tendencies, ultimately will hold you back, or youll constantly conflict and hurt them.. and hurt yourself. Best avoided romantically. Work is a whole other story, and in that sense, keep as many ISFJs as you can find, bc they're gems to work with.

@@malindaeckert2300 That was really deep and came from the pain within. Better to induce it yourself rather than wait for a breakdown (unwarranted personal advice). I just felt like I've seen/heard this kind of trauma before and wanted to give emotional advice with M-Te (a work in progress) Just 2 questions tho. 1. How do you FEEL after venting? 2. Do you put pressure on yourself to constantly perform and improve?
