On the story of the Titanic, My husbands grandmother was on the Californian. She was 12 at the time and said they could see the lights and hear the music and watched the white flares when they went off. They all thought they were partying, She lived to be a 101 and half, Thought you might like hearing this , Have a good day. Love watching you and Brit.

I was always told that I was morbid for being interested in graveyards, I just find them fascinating, they are full of history and I love to look around these places to try see how far back some of these burials go. When I was a child I would cut through past an old church which my father told me at that time was 950 years old, one of the oldest Norman churches in our area....I would walk past the tombstones and always look at one in particular of a sea captain who was buried there in around the late 1600s....I would try to imagine what sort of life they had and what they looked like, I still am the same even now.

I loved walking cemeteries too, as a kid we had big walkways throughout a local cemetery, I would take the cemetery walkway to our local Shopko, I'd take my time looking at the head stones, one broke my heart early 1800 it just said BABY BOY.. I'd always visit it.

Maple Hill Cemetery is beautiful, and has So much history there. Thanks Ron for visiting our city cemetery! Fun fact: Every year at this cemetery, the city hosts a wonderful tour, and local actors dress up as notable, former Huntsville residents. They are positioned at many of the gravesites, and speak about the life and death of former, well known Huntsville, AL citizens. It's a very informative stroll.

Kind of creepy. I guess her condition would depend on how well sealed the tomb is from the elements. Her remains might be sitting in that rocking chair. Or after almost 200 years it might be a pile of rotted wood and bones.

It sounds like she was groomed at an early age by the older man, who also insulted his then-wife in the process. If anyone did any kind of foul play, it was more likely the husband. Arsenic was part of everything, from common medications (especially for STDs) to cosmetics to the obvious use as exterminating vermin. It wasn't a difficult crime to commit, and sometimes wasn't even really a crime per se, if the deceased had been ingesting arsenic over a period of time from said medicine or cosmetics or exposure to rat poison. Then the young woman, still a teen, died shortly after marrying her (creepy-ish) girlhood crush. What happened to Mr. Bibb afterward, did he remarry a 3rd time and is that his obelisk next to the tomb? What did Mary's doctor father (tomb carvers used all kinds of creative abbreviations) think of all this?

Montreal Island has some interesting graveyards on one of its mountains. Of particular interest are those tombs of the Victorian age many of which can be peeked into and be amazed at what presents itself. Many have places for sitting and tables for food and drink wrought in stone. Understand gave sites were not dreaded back then and were once places where families & friends gathered to celebrate life and share it with departed loved ones.

Those above ground crypts turn into mini-ovens in the South. The bones would have been baked slowly for hundreds of years to the point they've probably crumbled into fragments and dust. It was eventually how New Orleans solved its limited space as well as problems of floating caskets every flood. They reuse the same mausoleums. Inter the remains, seal them up and let them bake down to brittle fragments, break the brick doorway down, sweep off the shelf, Inter a new body, re-brick the door and seal again.
