entrapta was so misunderstood the whole series, by both the characters AND fandom. she seemed like a science obsessed princess who has nothing else to do but talk about first ones tech for fun, which she was. it was just something she loved to do. during the last seasons they NEEDED her to get her sciency stuff to fix etheria (?) and she was actually doing this to help. all that geeking out about first ones tech was so they could be safe. she tried her best but everyone still saw her as a nerd. that’s why she’s one my my top princesses

I love the episode Launch because we clearly see why people have such a hard time understanding Entrapta. When Mermista mentioned Glimmer, she just smiled blankly as if the name meant nothing to her but later on in the episode, she made it clear that she was just as worried about Glimmer as the rest of them. Hell, considering she was the only member of the group who was the verge of tears when she said Glimmer's name, she might have been MORE worried but didn't know how to process those emotions. I think the reason for her blank smile was that she simply didn't know how she was supposed to react when they brought Glimmer up. Should she say something comforting and if so, what? Should she be angsty and pissed off like Mermista? Should she cry? Should she point out the very real possibility that Glimmer might already be dead? Hell, should she offer to make a robot version of Glimmer to try and help them grieve if she is dead? Because of her autism, Entrapta doesn't know how she's supposed to respond, so she falls back into her safety net of talking about science. Another great thing about Launch is that it doesn't make anybody the bad guy in that scenario. You could argue that Mermista and Perfuma were being assholes - although Mermista tends to be an asshole to everyone, not just Entrapta, because she doesn't want to be seen as a softy - but as I said in the previous paragraph, Entrapta gave them no sign that she was taking their mission to save Glimmer seriously. It's perfectly understandable that they misinterpreted her motives.

Entrapta is confirmed to be on the autism spectrum, and so her "love" for first one's tech is not just something she loves. An autistic special interest goes above and beyond the typical interest/hobby of a neurotypical. I agree that she's misunderstood. Social skills and empathy are confusing and sometimes outright uncomfortable when you're on the spectrum. Trust me, I know from experience.

Catra's the most complex character in the show, followed by Glimmer, who became very interesting in Season 4. Although she kind of pissed me off with her behaviour, I appreciate that the writers had the guts to show a darker side of her. I'd say that Entrapta and Shadow Weaver are tied for the position as 3rd most complex character. As I was writing this, I realised that they never interacted in the show, which feels like wasted potential since Entrapta's interactions with other characters are always unique due to her autism. Shadow Weaver would no doubt find her infuriating but Entrapta would probably treat her very similar to how she treated Hordak, since she doesn't see things in black and white which gives her a more nuanced perception of good and evil. Entrapta's the most intelligent person in the series and since her mind basically operates on a higher plane, she's usually ahead of the curve (which is why she sometimes speaks to the other characters as though they're stupid) and can see the good in everyone, except for Horde Prime. The most boring main characters in She Ra are Adora and Horde Prime because it's basically just good and evil with those two. Horde Prime is just a more charming version of Fire Lord Ozai from ATLA and his only somewhat interesting qualities are his perception of what light is and his belief that he has to destroy the old to make way for the new, although towards the end of Season 5, he seemed totally fine with destroying the universe. As for Adora, I liked her confidence in Season 5 - her voice actress made her sound more powerful in that season than any of the previous ones - but she's kind of like Aang, who's the most boring of the important characters in ATLA, so the show is largely carried by the more interesting characters around him. He only gets interesting when he hides Hakoda's letter from Katara and Sokka and when Appa gets kidnapped. Outside of those two instances, Aang's just a goody two shoes who's unwilling to get his hands dirty, which is why I found it annoying that he didn't have the balls to kill Ozai and needed the Lion Turtle and sheer dumb luck - remember, he went into the Avatar State BY ACCIDENT whilst fighting Ozai - to solve his problem for him. Adora's also a goody two shoes and it was annoying enough for Catra to complain about it but to be fair, she was willing to get her hands dirty and actually kill Horde Prime herself (Hordak took care of his body but She-Ra destroyed his spirit) instead of relying on a deus ex machina to take care of him for her.

You can honestly see the pain and sadness in this scene. Everyone thinks she doesn’t care when really she cares a lot for everyone. I mean she is working so hard to help take down Horde Prime so her getting a kidnapped makes her worry people will hate on her again. You can also see how bad she truly feels. She really tried helping and her getting kidnapped by Horde Prime makes her feel bad and that she failed everyone. I just wish she had more screen time cause she’s really an amazing character and deserved more screen-time and deserved to be shown more with her building and everything. She is truly an amazing character and I will always love her.

Entrapta's my favourite character and Glimmer's my second favourite. Catra's a great character, arguably the most well written in the series and certainly the one who goes through the most character development, but I found her redemption arc too rushed and after all the shit she did throughout most of the series, I'm not sure if she even deserved one. Despite that, I still cry whenever I watch the scene where she begs Adora to stay before kissing her in the finale. I probably wouldn't forgive Catra for all the terrible stuff she did, but that doesn't mean other people can't. One of the reasons I like Entrapta is that she's WAY more forgiving than I am. She literally had to remind herself that Catra was a shitty person before removing her chip and after that, she just smiled, petted her head and said "I forgive you".

She wanted to end things in a good way and not be mad at Catra, but notice how she barely talks to Catra directly after that. She kept a nice demeanor while making her boundaries clear because let's be honest, the way Catra treated Entrapta hurt her a lot more than she let on.

The other characters were either underdeveloped, underused or, in Adora and Glimmer's cases, outright character assassinated to prop up Catra and, to a lesser extent, Wrong Hordak. Without Entrapta and Horde Prime, Season 5 would have been a dumpster fire.

@@tomnorton4277 Agreed. Entrapta was really well written and a good neurodivergent representation. I think another character who was also well written is Scorpia. We first see her as just a dumb and happy character. But as the story progresses, we see more of her past and her feelings. The part where she left Catra was so powerful because she was one of the first people to remind Catra that she was being toxic. Later, when Scorpia joins the rebellion, she gets to unleash more of her power, find someone who cherishes her and build up her self confidence. The only part I was unsatisfied by was that she forgave Catra so easily, but I guess that's just her character.

Entrapta lives alone her whole life, people stay away or if they comes around they’re weirded out. The alliance comes to recruit her, but with the way they treated her it seemed all too possible they abandoned her. So she stayed loyal to the people who treated her like she had value, and like her love of tech was actually a good thing and not something that pissed them off. Then Catra ships her off to Beast Island, and she’s abandoned again. But, she’s got her machines on the island, the only things in her life that seem to like and accept her. Adora and Bow go to rescue her, but she doesn’t believe they want her as a friend. from her perspective she’s been used twice now, and it’s all cuz she isn’t normal. In her mind, people have used her and abandoned her because she was built wrong somehow. Why return to the princesses where the only thing she’s good at isn’t enough there? So Adora has to show her she cares by appealing to what makes her feel like she’s valued and worth peoples time: tech, especially first ones tech. With that feeling of worth restored, she starts helping out the princesses again. They try to do better, but they still expect her to play by their rules. When she can’t they get angry. they can’t appreciate how hard she’s working to help them. She doesn’t understand why they’re angry, After all, at the Horde it was enough, and this time she’s helping the right people, isn’t she? They blame her for all the terrible things her tech has done to them, and she knows they’re right, but she’s doing everything she did for the horde for the, now, Why isn’t it enough? It must be because she can’t figure out this “friendship” thing they all talk about. She wants so badly to be accepted, to be loved, but she’s not “normal” and so she blames herself for being taken in to help the horde just cuz they were nicer at first, and when she can’t help the princesses fix everything she feels like she failed at the only thing she could do to make it up to them. Truly, Entrapta is a tragic character.

When I think about this more and more, I realize just how sad this is This whole thing was Entrapta's plan and it was the first time that the Princesses actually went along with one of Entrapta's plans and trusted her with something as dangerous as going into Prime's base and hacking the network. She must have been feeling such immense pressure to get it right. After being captured, Entrapta feels like she let everyone down and it's her fault she got captured and now no-one will trust her with something important ever again or even consider one of her plans

I feel like the only people who truly tried to understand Entrapta was Hordak and Scorpia. The others thought she was annoying most of the time, and even when they didn't, they only wanted her for help. Hordak seemed to relate to Entrapta because he is bad at expressing emotions too so he knew how to communicate with her effectively. Scorpia didn't really understand Entrapta, but being the sweetheart she is, she tried her best to treat Entrapta like a real person and understand that she also had feelings.

Christine Woods strikes me as a very sweet woman and an actress who's always improving, which in some ways is more inspiring than an actress who seems to be perfect from the start. In Season 1, I think she was the weakest of the cast but in Season 5, she was the best part of the show, aside from Keston John who voiced Hordak, Horde Prime and the rest of the clones. The other cast members were great in Season 5 too but most of them either didn't have enough to work with or were simply given shitty scripts. Glimmer and Adora in particular were character assassinated in order to prop up Catra and the greatest actress who ever lived can't save bad writing. I wish there was a series that just focussed on Entrapta and Hordak.
