He’s way too cocky - and the “better” version with Peter was fake, in my opinion - his actual personality is the cocksure, argumentative, disrespectful version. He’ll probably be a big success because you don’t have to be a honest, trustworthy or even likeable person to succeed in business - in fact, “better” qualities can be seen as weakness by some people. They didn’t annex him because of his mistake - Peter made that abundantly clear. They annexed him for trying to get away with keeping that mistake a secret. He wasn’t being dishonest until Debora made it clear there was something to be revealed. She knew that money had gone somewhere and no amount of “forgetfulness” would be truth enough for that amount of money going missing. Even after 4 dragons and Jenny gave him clear and concise reasons as to why they couldn’t (not wouldn’t) invest, which had nothing to do with his initial mistake, he still didn’t hear it, and he still twisted the truth as he heard it and said he was penalised for a mistake.
