Rich, I worked as a software engineer for Tag McLaren in the UK in the early 90's. Back when Gordon Murray was a force of nature and we were working on the McLaren F1. Be lucky you don't own an actual F1 the appreciation of the car would totally have been eaten up with the annual maintenance. Sadly even as an employee I never got to drive an F1. I'm sorry to hear about all the issues you've had, this is not uncommon, I dare say that if Ron Dennis and Gordon were still running the show you'd not have had all these issues in one year.

Thanks for the review. I have a Mclaren mp4-12c spyder and love it. I put on 4K miles it since May and it's been pretty reliable. I have an m-engineering tune for 700 crank hp. It's pretty fast. I'm now getting downpipes, bigger turbos, injectors, and a new tune shooting for 1,000hp. I have a red Ferrari f430 and it's fun, but I like the mclaren more. I was surprised the Mclaren pulls more attention than the Ferrari. One of my friends had a Ferrari 488 for about 3 months. He didn't like it and traded it in on a 720. He absolutely loves it. As far as rallys go, a lotus 430 Exige is pretty hard to beat. They clean up in Australia in this type of racing. Lotus has a toyota engine (Camry V6 supercharged) and is the easiest/cheapest/fastest car for the money to work with. But they are the most raw. So that is the trade off. These overpriced exotic cars are ripping people off . If you want the experience just hire it for the day or take it on a track . I'm sticking to my Camry. Nothing wrong for years just bare minimum maintenance

For $20k you can buy a select fire ak or m16. $8k can get you a full auto mac 10.

Enjoyable and very informative video. Only question I have is, did you ever consider a spider and in hindsight wish you'd gone for one?

Why did you have to pay for the glass? Was the car out of warranty?

Never understood people who buy exotic cars with maintenance price tag same as 3rd world country budget. But those same people will never understand why I have a 6k fishfinder on my boat. So if you want something and willing to work for it, who cares what other think. You live once and will be leaving same as you came in.

Wow. A lot of issues for a new car and very time consuming. The material quality and design issues are a concern.

Rich, it's ok.... it is just the headache of owning a supercar.... I just had my LH fuel pump go out in my Ferrari 458 Spider (considering replacing it with a used part since the new one costs like over 2k!) and the new Ferrari F8 Spider that I just took delivery of won't start... it says "Modulus Missing Incomplete Data Go To Dealer. Replaced the batteries to my fobs... nothing! Have to flat bed it to the Ferrari service center on Tuesday! I've heard that McLarens have some issues like the ones you experienced but that is one sweet car!

Thanks for this. As an Aventador S owner, how do you think Mclaren compare to the Lambos you have owned?

LoL If I could afford a McLaren, I'd buy one! I'm also cheap, and I dont trust new tech. So all my stuff is old. I'm sure there's others saying they could buy cheaper cars... and of course. I personally, have always loved McLaren's! I typically buy what I can work on myself, and I'm not a motorhead. I usually dont work on my trucks and cars; but if I needed to. I can. I live OffGrid, so I buy more farm and off road stuff. But I like the video! It's cool to learn!

It’s a mclaren 720 light will come on every 3 months if you’re lucky. But not all cars of this level have issues. A good comparison would be a GT2 RS.

Love the honest commentary and love the car, doors, cool factor over the top. Beautiful car and glad tosee you enjoying every moment of it. Great thinking on the color, have seen it with my own experiences. True comment about Ferrari dealer arrogance…

Probably cheaper to rent one once in a while than go through these hassles. I mean since you can afford it it does it really matter to own something that you will eventually sell?
