They look cool ,but after thorough investigation, I would go for a seiko vk mechaquartz, far more reliable, a lot of ppl complain about the ST1900 quality control, random stops, and not to forget that servicing is more expensive than the movement, so personally I'ma wait until I have more money to buy something else like a Hamilton

You should do a video on the best quality automatic watches that require little to no service.
@ChronometerCheck19 күн бұрын
Doesn't exist :D but Seiko movements have been proven to be pretty reliable and rugged. Some have gone 10+ years without any issues

I think Citizens 3 star is supposed to be for markets where maintenance is difficult and batteries are hard to obtain (idk where that could possibly be)

Be aware that the movement is not the most reliable. It's 1940 design made cheaply today. My first ST1901 movement had problems from the start.
@ChronometerCheck19 күн бұрын
It's not a durable workhorse compared to many of the time-only rock-solid movements like the NH calibers out there by any means. What issues did you have?
@santtis19 күн бұрын
@@ChronometerCheck Small seconds stopped randomly between minutes 15-40. It lost about 1-2 mins per hour. Started to run again if you shook it or ran the chronograph. Also when adjusting the time it hacked randomly. On a non-hacking movement it shouldn't do that.

@@santtis Yeah something very wrong with that one unfortunately. Thanks for sharing

Original comment said $2-300, I really liked the look of the Baltics, went to their site, they are all €500+ :c Maybe I'll look for one used some day
@ChronometerCheck19 күн бұрын
Yeah, at that price you are pretty much exclusively sticking with the Seagull, Sugess and other options from chinese brands (and they're pretty dang good!)
@ZeroSuitSamo19 күн бұрын
@ChronometerCheck you aren't kidding! I just took a look at both their sites, and both of them offer some absolutely gorgeous designs for really reasonable prices. I mean, all of them still more than I can spend at the drop of a hat (I am way too poor for this hobby lol) but compared to other stuff on the market it's great. Heck, I have a couple of quartz Timex models on my Amazon wishlist list that cost more than some of their mechanical models with various complications
@ChronometerCheck19 күн бұрын
@@ZeroSuitSamo One thing that I learn over and over again is that spending more doesn't necessarily mean you'll enjoy the watch more so stick with what you can afford, maybe pick up a couple of straps to mix it up and wear the heck out of it and enjoy
@ZeroSuitSamo19 күн бұрын
@ChronometerCheck oh yeah I'm definitely not out there lusting after watches simply because they are expensive haha. I'm really only interested in their style, and Timex has a couple recent models that really caught my eye, but are just out of the "buy it now" price range. Kicking myself for missing a really good sale on one of them too. But yeah, I do want to get some more straps as well. Leather for ones that are on bracelets and vice-versa, maybe some more colored Nato straps to play with too.
@ChronometerCheck19 күн бұрын
@@ZeroSuitSamo Haha, I hear you. Especially with watches that aren't a simple impulse purchase. Sounds like you have the right mentality, enjoy! PS consider checking out some straps @ chronometercheck.com Will be adding some nylon options soonish :)

Where is the Strela 3017 my man. Seagull and it’s movement is basically a clone of the vintage Strela. You will not only get a beautiful Chronograph, but also a lot of space history without having to pay 5k for a Speedmaster, but rather very much affordable ranging from 500-1000€ depending on the configuration you want.

@@ionutistrate2320 Bullhead is quite literally a classic. Quirky, but that's part of its charm. One of those watches that I don't see myself owning but every time I see one I am impressed
