I do hard rock underground as a mine surveyor liking it so far (doing 2:1 atm but but when I graduate will be on 8:6). Where I work the jumbo was on 2.5k a day!!
@TheSonic1685 Жыл бұрын
Yeah mate, that's normal, jumbo operators get paid a shit load of money they're the top dogs of the industry. Only the shiftboss and the foremen earn similar amounts. Jumbo Op's sometimes get jobs overseas where they can earn around 320k a year. But even entry level armchair miners earn 80-100k a year, then as soon as you move into the second tier you can earn 120-150k a year. And the production of the mine can get people bonuses on top of that. Hardrock underground is all about the money. And as Andrew says, most people don't understand this and those that get into the industry can be absolutely steam rolled.

I work for a company that is haemorrhaging operators. We have new operators teaching new operators. The upside? If you want to get a start on pretty much anything its the place to be. The downside of the upside? As soon as people do a few hours they move to better paying work and the company are doing absolutely nothing to entice people to stay.
