FYI- arched A arms, wider stance, and more ground clearance are different vs the XT and XTP. You might be solving that with aftermarket A arms and bigger rims/tires???

Luke, we watched this episode, and then the one where you and the guys went camping and biking. In the bike trip episode, the DPS had been outfitted with a lot of upgrades. I have searched for an episode where the build was done, but I can’t find it. Did you make a build episode for the DPS referenced in this one? If so, a link would be most appreciated.

Is the commander max also clutched different than the maverick sport max? Or is it just engine mapping? My Xt max also has driveline rattle from 4000 to 4800 rpm. Getting very annoying

On a side note, AC just released the 2023 lineup, you need to get some test u it's, TRV, Mud Pro is back, and how does the 600 co Pete head to head vs the old 700. On paper the 600 seems to be more powerful.

Thanks for the video because I have 2 of the OG Commanders a 2011 1000xt and a 2012 800xt the 1000 is nearly stock with arched and raked 2” forward A-arms and rear stretched trailing arms plus it has snorkels and a heavy duty front bumper, whereas my 800 has 2” puck lifts and a CATVOS 4” lift , a rebuilt front bumper that looks stock but is heavier duty, plus I built a heavy duty metal roof strong enough for people to sit on and it runs on 32” Black Mambas on 10” wide wheels or on 32” OutLaws on PoPo stock wheels with adapters and it has no problem turning those tires over with the stock 800 motor. I try to build my aftermarket type stuff, it doesn’t always save me money but it does help me with learning how to work on my stuff

Does your Can Am commander max DPS have the center drive line rattle? If so, have you heard of any fixes from Can Am or DIY fixes?

My XT and countless other owners are all having an issue with driveline rattle around 4000-4900 RPMs. Engaging 4x4 helps some. But it has been really bothering me lately.

Vibration up to about 25MPH in 2WD which then smoothes out. When you switch to 4x4 it goes away but the vibration increases with a heavi-ness in the driveline unlike other vehicles in 4x4.

The clutching on the Commander is setup to the torque curve so shift out is at lower rpm. Trade off is it's quieter. Some folks change out the weights and springs with the mav sport parts to wake it up.

The DPS doesn’t have the radius A arms, and I can’t help but notice your using the grey key in the video. If your going to comment on the engine performance shouldn’t you be using the green “performance” key?

If it were one of the Can Am models that included both keys you'd be correct. However, the the Max DPS only has ONE key and TWO drive modes, ECO and Sport. You can buy an extra learning key and have it programmed, but it doesn’t come stock with this unit.

Thanks for the reply. You look fairly tall. I’m 6’9” and I’m struggling to find one on the floor to see if I fit. I currently have a Defender, but I’m looking for something a little sportier. Surprisingly, I can fit in a Maverick with seat adjustments, but there’s not much utility in those machines. Size discrimination.

Unbelievable! I expect way more safety awareness out of this channel. For goodness sake you take your kids for rides. How could you NOT notice that you have the front seats installed in the back and the back seats installed in the front. At least the passengers you ride in the dump box will have proper instructions and warning to stay safe. I just feel bad for anyone injured in the back seats because they didn't have proper instructions clearly letting them know its dangerous and they need to buckle up etc. I mean... do you expect anyone to know that basic survival instinct without the sticker? You're just taking cheap shots at trying to discredit our opinions. You should go back and watch those videos again - particularly the more recent ones. We always noted the seating position on those UTVs as something Can-Am needed to fix and once the Maverick was introduced, we often said that was the direction the Commander needed to take.

@@dirttraxtv Cheap Shots? I don't think so. You said you had nothing good to say about the Commander and that simply isn't true at all. You better go back and watch those videos yourself. Have you complained about things over the years like seating position? Sure. Although I don't know why. It was never intended to be a pure sport machine. You guys basically gushed about how much you liked them in several videos over the years. You boasted about incredible power. AJ said, "The Commander has taken driver comfort to a totally new level." Luke said, "From the very second you fire up this 1 liter Vtwin you know it means business. Heck the sound alone is enough to make the hairs on the back of your necks stand up." You even did a comparison of the old Commander to a Polaris General when it was introduced. They almost tied, and the Commander was really old even then.

I appreciate that you've gone back and re-watched these segments again and I'm not going to beat on you for pointing out positive comments we made. I spent some time today re-watching all the Commander videos on our channel and for 10 year old segments I still feel they're balanced. There's enough of a mix of positives and negatives in these videos to support Luke's comment in this segment. I encourage anyone reading this comment to go back and watch these segments too. If you think I'm wrong, feel free to tell me in this thread.

@@dirttraxtv I don't want to beat a dead horse but I disagree. I never wrote that I didn't feel the older videos were not balanced. All I stated was that you guys said a lot of nice things about the original Commander over the years, which you did. But in this video Luke said something to the effect of, "None of us here at Dirt Trax have much good to say about the original Commander." Maybe he meant that none of you have anything good to say about it now, or compared to the new Commander, which is fine. But it sounded like no one at DT ever had anything good to say about it ever.
