FAQ: What about the Nightmare assault on Elite? | Even if you start on Elite, the difficulty will be raised to Legend anyway once the assault starts. What if only the Killhouse is a loop and the Nightmare is a way to break out of it? | I was originally going to include this interpretation in the video, but I ultimately decided not to. That's because "au revoir" means "goodbye until we meet again" which shows that the FL will meet Rose again. I also saw the Deposit alternate soundtrack as more evidence of the alternate timeline. What if the FL repeats the entire storyline rather than just the Killhouse? | There is no evidence of them doing anything other than the Killhouse, and the dialogue in other missions does not indicate that they've done the mission before. It's only the Killhouse that has these characteristics. Also, we know that the Killhouse happens after Epilogue anyway, so it's unnecessary to assume we are repeating the whole thing.

@Wren i can somewhat agree, 15 min drill time being same as bombs on BD does make some sence. Tho the au-revoir seems like they met, died and they will meet again somewhere else (maybe in future, maybe before everything happen and make happier ending where both Rose and FL are having happier lives) i do belive that they are dead by the event time I must say that nightmare assault is when died, lights are on while they are alive, then blackout when they are dead, even after mission being completed the blackout is still there which only means they are dead, they are going to be reborn some time later (prob in future) I say that the nightmare killhouse is just thier memories before they died I hope this makes any sence

I think that its rose talking to jackdaw, we can tell rose was close to the freelancer, and jackdaw got the freelancer killed in HIS mission for revenge against halcyon. "Just has to have your revenge" "you knew it would end like this" freelancer says "we both knew this was a suicide mission" implying that jackdaw willingly let the freelancer die in a shadow war that diddnt involve him/her.

Here's an idea: The Kill house is the Freelancer in Purgatory due to them doing stealth on most/the final missions. They did commit some pretty huge crimes, but they've done enough good to warrant Purgatory rather than Hell. The Nightmare is if the Freelancer decided to go for loud: He/she has killed many lives, both innocent and evil, therefore they're forced to eternally fight swat teams for the rest of their existence. Sentenced to an ironic punishment for all eternity while Rose scolds them for trying to take revenge for her by killing more people who are just unknowing slaves of Halcyon.

That's what I thought as well, you get bonus xp for not killing anyone in missions, which is also the requirements for Legend. You are not meant to kill anyone else except Halcyon Operatives or Phoenix Operatives. Killing guards or civilians like on The Deposit are mostly innocent, and have nothing to do with the war between Halcyon and Phoenix. Guards who are just working there and are civilians for the rest of the day. Also Th eKillhouse has old dialogue/briefing text and it says "SWAT" instead of "Aegis". Probably unintentional because Killhouse was the first actual "heist" (after the Freelancer tutorial). But might be connected to lore.

This would be a good theory, but Rose seems to love loud, with her very happy when you go Plan B on Deposit, and with her killing Steel Cove in the Blacksite. It just doesn't make sense for her to be so mad at you just because you went loud. Harvey dying/not dying seems like a more plausible theory.

I think when the main timeline separated into two was when the freelancer chose to join Halcyon. Maybe in the alternative one, Phoenix makes him an offer. I'm pretty sure that the April First event had something to do with it. When Sparrow says "Phoenix could make a better offer", maybe Cish is hinting something. But, that's Sparrow, so you probably won't know. Maybe the freelancer betrays Phoenix and joins Halcyon, they might've helped Halcyon destroy Phoenix, which (I guess) is a reason why there is the alternative song in the deposit, which means Halcyon has won in the alternative timeline. Maybe Rose was with Halcyon the whole time and she betrays Jackdaw.

I like to think of the Killhouse as just a recurring practice session taking place at random times throughout the Freelancer’s time with Halcyon. So whenever I decide to play the game in chronological order, I just play the Killhouse before every mission where I am still working for Halcyon. On a side note I feel that the Concept map is some sort of afterlife, the Freelancer being forced to do a heist over and over as punishment for his crimes. That could explain why it is so similar to the other missions, because those are his experiences. Either that or he’s dreaming.

Freelancer’s opening dialogue in the Killhouse makes me feel as if they don’t know it’s a loop. However, Rose’s dialogue has this really eerie tone to it. “And… here we are again.” Is NOT a normal thing to say.

I have an alternate theory. Like what if instead of the nightmare assault being an alternate loop, how about it was the key to breaking out of the loop? We weren't supposed to end the loop. Rose scolded us because she enjoyed our "training" together. So at some part of the loop, the freelancer realises that the wires were black. We dont tell Rose. We experiment with the wires, and after doing what we were supposed to do, the nightmare assault begins. Thats also probably why its so damn hard. After we complete it, Rose feels sad that they wont be able to "train" anymore, for unknown reasons. The freelancer breaks out of the loop and goes to his final afterlife.

7:36, I suggest my theory is..In this alternative timeline, maybe you kill Falcon early? Or something? Something that would've made a difference. Maybe never joined Phoenix? Who knows. Funny thing, my theory of why we respawn after dying is because we're stuck in some sort of loop, forced to do the missions over and over again, sometimes harder, easier, but every death is just like another day in the office. We come back and go do it again, like some sort of purgatory.

Maybe there's actually multiple points of divergence in each mission, if you go loud or stealth, and the normal killhouse loop would be if you went stealth for most missions and it's like normal hell, since you either didn't kill anyone or killed not that many people, while nightmare loop being if you did loud(supported by it being loud only) for the majority and killed lots of people(presumably hundreds) and it being like extra-hell because of all the murders your character has committed. Also, Rose in the nightmare mode could be fake and scolding you for the murders.

Couldn't both timelines co-exist? It could be that the regular killhouse loop is just a stage of tranquility, where the freelancer is doing what they'd probably want to do again: train with Rose. The only reason the nightmare assault would happen is because it's exactly that, a nightmare. I don't think someone is always going to have good dreams or always have nightmares.

This would support the coma theory, as in the elevator there aren’t many bombs on the way. I do find it plausible that the freelancer survived and is in a comma, that will either get used by Cish on some expansion or he will die then. Certain comma patients are known to for no apparent reason go on horrific nightmares, as indicated by brain activity. So my guess is that the nightmare assault is just the nightmares they have and the kill house is a normal dream

I have a theory. The freelancer and rose are trapped there together, right. Well since we can't actually see where rose is, she could be being held hostage by some sort of demon. She and the freelancer are forced to repeat the normal killhouse. 2 possibilities: 1. The freelancer dies in black dusk. The Nightmare is the last memories they had before going to the afterlife. Either they got caught in stealth, or died fighting in loud (probbably chose loud) This actually raises a second theory, which is: - The main timeline may involve the freelancer doing all of the missions on stealth - The alternate timeline is where the freelancer does all missions loud, including Black Dusk. And Black Dusk didn't go so well. 2. In The Nightmare you play as Jackdaw. Had to take your revenge Jackdaw, hadn't you?

my theory since the canon is only black dusk being steath, killhouse is the loop with nightmare assault being the point of "doing what you arent supposed to" and how you get it is cutting every wire in kill house (as i remember), that turned off the power ofc but the "acting" became real and rose saying that wasn't supposed to happen basically says she knew it wasn't real and was acting when it ended the loop was going back to normal but the twist is theres an exit gap now from such bad loop distortion for example the exit is killing all pumpkins for some reason, or do something "you weren't supposed to" again and the loop broke, triggering the ??? event from halloween appearing in a construction site apperently above kill house or the after life is completely distorted spawning (seemingly) endless SWATs, once you survive long enough, they stop appearing and you can hear jackdaw saying your job is done, director is dead and hes proud of you, then you seem to flee by helicopter and exit the distorted reality into whatever other afterlife you are going in, most likely eternal peace

Here’s my theory about KH and NM (Killhouse and Nightmare Assault) Just looking at the name of NM, I think that this is some sort of Nightmare the freelancer has, or something they’re afraid of, and at the end, they hear the last sentences from Rose before she was shot by Falcon, and that of the Nightmare assault itself, is also just something the Freelancer is afraid of, such as an operation going wrong, ending with them dead. Of course, we, the player, knows that the sentences from NM is not what Rose said before she was shot, but the Freelancer might’ve never heard that conversation, and is now just imagining what Rose said. The Killhouse was probably their first training, and that is why NM takes place in KH instead of somewhere else. This is of course just a theory A gAmE tHeOrY

So here's my theory. The killhouse, are the thoughts of the freelancer before each mission and afterwards, this can be confirmed by the objects of each mission in the killhouse. The killhouse loop does, before Black Dust. The nightmare mode is the thoughts of the freelancer after the explosion, that is to say he survived the explosion, but he is in a coma, so the nightmare is the loop until he wakes up or dies. Rose's lines are the thoughts of how he acted at Black Dust. This is my theory.

Now that we do have the freelance heists: (Spoilers) It seems very plausible that the split in the timeline occurs based on whether or not you shoot Harvey. When Rose gets mad at you for having your revenge instead of walking away, that could refer to Harvey, when your choices are to shoot him in revenge for betraying you and be unable to fence the gold, or walking away from the gold and leaving Harvey to his con.

Unof, I read the wiki and I might have something to say. The player deceased on the day that the black dusk happened, but epilogue happens much later. The wiki also states that epilogue is a flashback, but the freelancer is dead. This means that either the freelancer knows, which is unlikely for reasons mentioned in the video, however this could also mean that the freelancer suffers from memory loss which would be why he doesn't remember anything. It wouldn't really make sense though because if the killhouse is a collection of our memories, then why would he forget the more important, more recent happenings. Perhaps rose talked him out of it when they first met, which would explain why rose said goodbye until we meet AGAIN, but if the freelancer has seen rose after his death, wouldn't he remember retribution? Because he could remember the blacksite which was much earlier since parts of it have been put into the killhouse... I'm just speculating at this point. Is it possible that the freelancer is training in this mission with what vague memories he has left in the hopes of getting the rest of his memories dead. If he is dead but somehow still able to interact with the world, did he manage to become back, making him alive, respawn?(because the gala is a real life canon location and that's what's used for the map) And how could he die in loud if he's already dead? And if he's dead, are the guards and swat also dead? Is that maybe the revenge? The revenge on the swat? But why the hell would rose be dissapointed in the freelancer if he wants revenge on the swat and goes loud because rose likes explosions? And the name of the badge: give me a real mission. Like, the killhouse is the least of a mission of all of them. It's literally just a part of the deposit but in the map of the gala. What if the real refers to... real life? And not a... post dead? Simulated? Hallucinated one? Or maybe the mission isn't the objectives you get in the killhouse but something else... Rebirth? Regain memories? Could it be that the nightmare is like an opposite of the real universe (with the killhouse?), where the freelancer decides to go to learn more about his past, but a during the mission, a shocking truth is revealed to rose about the alternate freelancer. And since it's the same character as the 'real' one, rose gets dissapointed in the real freelancer. If it was an opposite truth though, the opposite freelancer is alive. It could be that he abandoned the last mission, black dusk, to kill everyone who ever hurt him in the slightest? Is that the revenge? Did he kill jackdaw too? And all the swat? Did the alternate and main freelancer merge? Maybe the freelancer is just going there under hypnosis by rose and while he talks in his sleep, during the time he gains conciousness of the opposite freelancer he talks and makes both rose and him realise something horrible in the real and/or alternate timeline? I think for the alternate timeline where the nightmare assault happens the black dusk is the point of separation. The freelancer survives and kills Jackdaw, when he dies, Rose tortures them as a punishment for killing Jackdaw. In the epilogue cutscene the freelancer is wearing a disguise and he never uses a disguise in loud

My theory is that the killhouse is a special place in purgetory for people who joined helcyon or used to be in helcyon. I just realised in the gala which might also be the redecorated version of the killhouse Rose mentioned that Wren designed all the props so this is proof that the killhouse might be a special place in purgetory.

I have a theory, during a Halloween event, if you shoot all the pumpkins in the KH, you get teleported to a construction site where you have to fight a seemly endless swat assault,however it stops after a while and then you can hear Jackdaw speaking to you telling you that "Its done" and "The director is dead" and after that... Nothing. I think the freelancer then was finally put to peace. But thats just a theory, a game theory

Theory: every time the freelancer is killed in a mission like the Deposit or Blacksite, they are put into the Killhouse loop, where they are forced to train forever pretty much. Possibly they are linked to alternate timelines where those other copies of your freelancer who become more skilled (Perk points). I believe that the Killhouse is a sort of purgatory, where The Freelancer stays in this perpetual loop of a training mission with Rose in the afterlife, with memories from the past. The Nightmare Assault is Hell, where The Freelancer is perpetually forced to fight and shoot while being scolded by Rose, but that begs the question: What would be Heaven for the Freelancer? I think it is The Concept. The Concept is completely disassociated from the timeline of EP, and might mark a secret alt ending where the Freelancer never killed anyone (Or never even joined Halcyon), and can go to Heaven. The Concept is like Heaven, with lots of white, pleasant things (The playground in The Concept) and a way to complete the mission without killing anyone.

From a game development standpoint, yes, the assets in the Killhouse were made first. However, since the KH is last chronologically, from a story standpoint, its assets are memories from previous missions.

My theory is a lot more simple than a lot of other ones I've been seeing. I think that in the main storyline (the one where FL takes revenge against Halcyon for killing Rose) the NM Assault is the ending after Epilogue, because Rose didn't want the FL to get caught up in getting revenge and continue working from one evil to another. For Rose, she wanted out from this Halcyon and Pheonix conflict as she knew that both sides were morally wrong, and because the FL didn't realise this, NM Assault happened and Rose reprimanded him for not leaving while he still could. The normal Killhouse mission probably happened in some other timeline where the FL left Halcyon and Pheonix and escaped the conflict.

It's definitely a totally different person (which is yourself) because jackdaw trained rose he was the person giving instructions while rose carried out the operations and not the other way around (like in kill house) and jackdaw was also seen as an old man while rose is still young so it might indicate that jackdaw trained rose when she was a child and when jackdaw was young.

Ok I have a 2nd theory: The killhouse happed in May 15-16 2015. Maybe the freelancer was dreaming of him doing a hard loud test- Killhouse nightmare. Then rose appeared in his dream saying that she is dead. Because once you are escaping with the loot in killhouse nightmare, she will say got your revenge? or something and at the end she said, Au revoir which means goodbye we will meet again. Maybe rose is saying that they will meet again at Heaven when the freelancer die. And rose is saying that in his dream because she is saying goodbye to the freelancer is his dream. There's actually a major divergence in the main story, it doesn't affect the normal story but it may be unlikely. During the scientist, there are two conditions where Rivera lives or dies, but the story goes on. It may affect, as Rivera's death would be the freelancer's responsibility.

Remember that one time the Freelancer told Jackdaw that he was gonna have a long talk with him in ‘Retribution’ after it was all over? What if Finch killed Jackdaw as an act of ‘Revenge’ but he also completed Black Dusk in the alternate timeline? It would be understandable if Rose got mad if the FL killed her father-figure.

7:09 When you think about it, the Nightmare Assult is more likley to be in the Main timeline the the Alternate timeline. In the Main timeline, Rose never wanted us to join Phoniex and hoped that we stayed out of it (This was said in the Jackdaw cutscene but if im wrong please correct me.). Though instead we joined Phoniex to get revenge, which Rose wanted, but not at the cost of the freelancer's life. For our actions in Withdrawal all the way up to Black Dusk, Rose scolds us for having to get our revenge on Halcyon.

And thats The FLH: Departure cutscene for this reason: Once Harvey is shot after attemting to Blackmail the freelancer, TFL has 2 Options: Spare or kill Harvey; which either way teaches TFL the same lesson. This reason is (almost) the same as in Dedication Wren shoots TFL but is killed by Jackdaw and is given the task to *KILL* Halcyon but this is where things could get interesting: In FLH, it is (so far) never said what happens to Harvey after Departure on the EP Wiki, it is (so far) the players choice so heres what i believe: Killing Harvey: FL becomes sick for vengence and kills Halcyon without mercy. NMA Timeline. Sparing Harvey: FL kills Halcyon and dies with them but without firing a bullet *(remember stealth BD is canon and theres gold badges where you need to be pacifist where as in BD the bombs kill them. Not to mention theres no stealth alt soundtracks)* KH timeline.

People would say I should join the server for a theory, but I'm 12, so no. I think that the Gala dialogue where Rose and Wren argue about a 'kill house" is a legitimate way Rose wants to call it, not because of the name of this mission. This would mean that Wren, FL and Rose do this when they are in Halcyon, but when in their dream state, they change it to make their conscience believe it is a new mission, training for the next stealth mission or fight to the death... I also think, though it be a useless fact, that maybe these SWAT and guards are people they have killed when they were still chronologically alive, coming back to help haunt them. I'll have to do more research and more play throughs, but that's what I think for now.

I got my theory of alt timeline and main timeline: 1.In main timeline when you play Ironman You will die in the end and destroy Halcyon the last mission is black dusk so nothing went wrong and its endless normal killhouse. 2.In alt timeline you end by joining Phoenix and last mission is The deposit, you have to interrogate the commander on the blacksite and go all stealth.You have to do it very well and in lakehouse you might find the files in lab and Pheonix never packs them to save them so you get to steal them all with the servers and I never got the alternate soundtrack in deposit but I think it happens in alt timeline by making you die after deposit because Halcyon destroys the Pheonix by files you got and that's the thing that went wrong that's the deceive.

I don't know why but I've been thinking about this a lot lately, wondering what would happen if Jackdaw killed the Director before the events of EP's story. I feel like these would likely happen. -Halcyon would possibly become obsolete and forgotten about, it's operatives and members scattering across the globe. -The Freelancer, Rose, and many others would have been spared. The Shadow War would of most likely not happened. Jackdaw would of possibly take out a majority of Halcyon on his own due to his amazing combat skills, then likely surrender himself to the authorities. Living in prison as part of his retirement. While the Freelancer is mostly the protagonist of Entry Point, it was ultimately Jackdaw's choices that caused all of Entry Point's events to happen. (Give more ideas for what of possibly happened, I have smol brain and I haven't watched a cutscene in a while nor read any of the code bios.)

What if the freelancer's body was never found after blackdusk? That could mean the freelancer is in a permanent coma or an extreme vegetative state and perhaps this is a very real nightmare for them. What if when they actually beat the nightmare the freelancer will awaken from the coma? Well its likely the freelancer died so this is a very thin and slim possibility. On the contrary, I think that nightmare is in the main timeline. Here is why. Where Rose explains her anger of the 'revenge' that he, and jackdaw took, was taking down halcyon, and killing "the director". I don't know 100% if Rose wanted halcyon gone, or "the director" dead, but I think Rose's main goal, was to get the freelancer out of there, while providing phoenix with intel. Instead, the freelancer and jackdaw took it a step further and killed "the director" and took down halcyon, I don't think this is what rose fully wanted. Either way, I think the killhouse is in the alternate timeline, where rose wants revenge, just like jackdaw and the freelancer, and ultimately, they got it. However I disagree that the killhouse is on the main timeline. I firmly believe that nightmare mode is in the main timeline, and the killhouse is in the alternate timeline. I think Rose actually didn't want either Phoenix or Halcyon to win. She tried to stay neutral and wanted the freelancer to do the same but the freelancer destroyed Halcyon so when they die Rose is upset for them getting revenge instead of staying neutral. The normal non-nightmare timeline is just if the freelance accidentally gets within range of a C4 or drops a grenade on themselves or just die in a normal way on one of the missions.
