Just a reminder, any politician saying they'll get the job done in 27 years, is saying they won't do it, this definitely applies to the Liberal party as well.

If you are unhappy with your politicans. It's because they are all being bribed with donations by corporations. In Canada for example, all 3 major political parties get massive donations by American unions. Alberta's major oil and gas companies are American owned with headquarters in America. If you didn't know. Alberta transports their oil to the US where they refine it and bring it back to us to sell. They care more about getting their donations from American corporations than Albertan's long term future. This process of transferring Alberta's electric grid has been slow. If you compare it to Olso, Norway. You can see how slow the process has been. In Olso, they have supported the process towards carbon free with the city having the most EVs. All their public transportation is electric. And guess what? Norway's biggest export is oil! Just like Alberta. Really shows the difference between a government who actually cares about their people and prepares them for the future. Is Alberta's government intentionally delaying the process so they can cry when the feds want to clamp down on fossil fuel usage? Also, Danielle Smith needs to pay attention to what the predictions are on the arctic sea ice melting. What about AMOC collapsing. These all have data and are never talked about by fossil fuel companies and their mouth piece of politicans like Danielle Smith. There won't be a world in 2050 if you delay action until then. Do you care about your children or grand kids? You think your going to heaven if you choose money over science?

I agree. The environment is not under the exclusive control of Danielle Smith and the Petroleum industry in Alberta. The country has a say in how this plays out. Ask those in BC, Nova Scotia, Northern Ontario and Northern Alberta who have been burned out of their homes if the climate has anything to do with the descisions of the oil industry.

@@YTStopCensoringFreedomOfspeechJust remember. If Canada went to net 0, these things would still be happening as we emit 1.5%. As for the oil and gas industry, World still uses it including yourself daily and shipping it in will not be worse for the environment, but cripple the economy where it accounts for 6.5% GDP. And that revenue as well as all the taxable income from the workers in the oil and gas industry not only help pay for hospitals schools and infrastructure, but also help pay for research and technology for future cleaner energy.

The entire planet is working on this problem. In Canada, the Liberal government has actually put more money into the Alberta oil industry than they have spent in the entire country for energy transition. Don’t believe the hype, the Liberals are actually about two inches apart from where Smith is on this. One new policy document released after their voters have shown their disgust in the polls doesn’t equate to real action. Canada’s record on climate action rates an F- under the Liberals.

"Suncor spokesperson furious at the comments of environment minister" should be the title of this video. Here's an excerpt from an interview Steven Guilbeault gave recently: "China is is obviously watching what others are doing. I've seen Pierre Poilievre's conservative party members, who are calling me every name in the book because I'm going to China to talk about climate change. But as soon as I try to put forward a measure to fight climate change in Canada, they're the first to say: Yes, but China. That's why I'm going to China. Work with them, cooperate with them on these issues. It's not by trying to ignore them that we'll succeed in finding global solutions."
@eternalmaster7638
@eternalmaster7638 Жыл бұрын
Here's another excerpt: "Our approach is to say that we're not perfect here in Canada, we have challenges. Here's what we're doing. It's an approach that I think my colleagues in the [Northern hemisphere] and [Southern hemisphere] appreciate, rather than saying: look how good we are. I think there are things we do well in Canada. But we also have our challenges, particularly in the oil and gas sector. Everyone has challenges, so let's see how we can work together."

We had the opportunity to watch two illuminating videos from Danielle Smith today. She conveyed her deep understanding of healthcare challenges and similarly, a profound comprehension of energy system challenges. It's worth pondering: has the Liberal leadership ever really turned the public's attention to the critical healthcare areas such as doctor shortages, excluding their mentions of vaccine health issues? And have they heavily championed energy projects that genuinely address climate change? Interestingly, their focus for years seems more attuned to non-criminals who happen to own guns, and the constant drumbeat of censorship laws. In the current dialogue, it appears that the primary voices advocating for leveraging science and engineering to remedy healthcare issues and rejuvenate outdated energy systems belong to leaders like Danielle Smith. This observation leads us to the realization that we must hone our skills in discerning the subtle variations in speeches made by different leaders. It's an oversight to paint all politicians with the same brush, believing that they all do not have an allegiance to the public or to the country in a similar manner. Some politicians, such as Danielle Smith, demonstrate a very strong allegiance to the public, and this is visible in the work tenacity, focus and good alignment with professional STEM viewpoints, standards and solution approaches. Certain politicians, especially those emerging from less privileged backgrounds, often adopt a growth-oriented approach. They envision a version of humanity that is not static but is constantly evolving, reaching new heights, and aspiring towards the vastness of the sky. On the other side of the spectrum, it's not uncommon to find leaders, particularly those nurtured in affluence, who don't necessarily promote growth or innovative solution development. Their orientation is more towards de-growth and control. Their perspective on engineering is skewed towards creating physical or digital prisons and camps. To them, the resolution to most problems lies in exerting greater control over populations. By fine-tuning our ability to understand these speech variances, we can become more adept at discerning the leadership archetype in front of us. Recognizing whether their approach is towards growth and STEM or leans towards de-growth and control is imperative. Our inclination is clear: we resonate with Danielle Smith's philosophy, where she emphasizes the importance of understanding, consultation, and an astute professional judgment.

That's a figure reporting CO2 emissions from direct use/combustion here in Canada. Importantly, we export oil, in fact Canada is the world's 4th largest producer of oil. So the great majority of that oil is consumed/burned elsewhere, it doesn't sit in a museum. In addition, emissions from producers are known to be under-reported (by outside audits not generated by industry itself). Methane releases are hugely under-reported. Methane is a much more potent greenhouse gas than CO2. You're playing deceptive games with numbers, I believe that you're being purposefully mischievous.

@@9UaYXxB Wind and solar energy does not provide enough energy to sustain a population of millions of people and by 2050 hydroelectricity and nuclear fusion will be the norm, I guess you also don't mind sacrificing the poor to not save the planet. The question I guess is what do you want ? Like if you want cheap power of the sort that would make people Rich enough to start caring about the environment then it would seem to me that you would be a nuclear power supporter rather than a supporter of solar or wind power which I think only still accounts for about 3% of total energy needs. Another problem is the amount of land that solar and wind use because thier very low density sources of energy so you have to have a lot of land and you need more land then there is. Even Canada doesn't have enough land to produce renewable energy for it's poulation. It's kind of like a medieval economy lol thier won't be any forest left, but I'm sure you've thought about that.

@@matcaterinathe science shows that these targets of 2050 arent good enough but rather lazy. It takes a while for the carbon we pump intk the atmosphere to catch up and create long lasting effects so by the time we hit 2050, it will be too late. We have to act now instead of dragging our feet and protecting big oils bottom line. If the big oil companies collapse then fine! New industries and companies will come and take their place. This isnt an alberta or a canada issue but a global issue and we, a 1st world country, wont feel the worst effects of climate change till after poorer countries are decimated. We have the money and infrastructure to sheild ourselves and mitigate the risks while other nations suffer due to extreme weather

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, but since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels (like coal, oil and gas), which produces heat-trapping gases.
