That’s a good question to consider. Policies can make companies adjust to those changes, but I am sure there will be some backlash. Meaning, do you think a city or its people will be OK if suddenly air and water quality drop? There would be some form of protests. Even if jobs are cut, the effects of poor standards will still be felt, so they’d have to make up for it somewhere else.

Right now, I'm earning$119,000. This is with a Masters Degree, EIT, 5+ years of work experience, and living in California, so take that into consideration. I'm guessing a fresh graduate with just a BS in Env Eng may earn around $60-80k.
