Dear Professor, I work as a nurse. I treat sick people every day. While I cannot argue with the economic feasibility of using GMO food, here are my concerns. 1. The explosion of autism incidence in children - latest research is 1 in 44. 2. The explosion of cancer incidence in both children and adults. Childhood cancer was extremely rare in my parent's generation (they are in their 70's), almost unheard of ! I personally know so many people who lost their children to cancer ! 3. Allergies - I rarely see any patients who are NOT allergic to medication or some type of food ! 4. Genetic disorders - children who are born with major genetic defects to relatively healthy, young parents ! Spontaneous abortions went up by a whole lot, because the fetus was genetically too sick to survive. Almost half of all pregnancies are lost in the first month (the mother would not even know unless blood testing was done at the right time). There are many other chemicals that could be blamed for all of the above. As a health care professional, I can tell you, it gets scary ! I think the GMO industry is like Pandora's box. Once it was opened, it was too late ! Are we committing genetic suicide ?

When I teach my face to face students, I discuss these very same concerns with my students as well. In fact, it’s the only time I declare to them that I have an intellectual bias and it’s against GMOs, anything raised using pesticides, or processed foods. My own family lives on a fully organic diet or as close as we can get for the very reasons you stated.

I really love your lectures! Always fun and engaging. Although I can't find anything in this Environmental Science lecture series past #13. Are you able to upload them? Thanks!

Thank you...I'm still recording this series so lectures 4-8 and several lectures after 13 are still in production. Glad to have you studying with us!

@@EarthandSpaceSciencesX gotcha, well I got the notification Bell on and I'm looking forward to the next uploads! I live in North Carolina and I work in the clinical trials industry. I'm frankly terrified of climate change and all the other sustainability issues that our society has and I hope to learn how we can address those challenges by watching your lectures. I'll start by buying organic and growing some of my own food in my backyard next year. I wonder how we can advocate for the US government to provide subsidies to organic farmers...
