When hiking, do you think it’s worth taking the slip out of the orange bag and putting the slip in the sleeping bag? I’m thinking it may be worthwhile, as that means I’ll have one less bag in my backpack. Thoughts??

Once can certainly pack the liner inside the sleeping bag, to save space and sacks! The advantage to keeping it separate is one can choose whether or not to employ it, or pull it out individually for alternate uses. However that is entirely a matter of personal preference!

Does Sea to summit have a bivy?

Good question. I recommend to always use a Bivy (14oz). It holds the whole sleep system together. including Sleeping pad,.

Have you ever experienced this personally? I have seen some reviews, but they all are negative

Hi Nurbulat! Not Becky, but I've used the Thermolite Reactor on a few trips, one of which probably saw single digit (F) temps. Having the liner helped me stay somewhat warm, but a lower temp bag (mine was a 20 F) would have been a good idea! -GS JC

@@Enwild so no 15 degree additional?
@Enwild5 жыл бұрын
@@NurBull The liner definitely adds some warmth, though it's tough to give it an exact temperature number. The case is probably similar to bag temperature ratings, so the liner might help you stay comfortable down to about 10(F) less than you would otherwise, with 15(F) less being the temp at which you're simply maintaining thermal equilibrium. People experience cold differently, and a lot of staying warm comes down to knowing what your personal gear needs are at lower temps.

@@Enwild Completely agree. Temp ratings on bags and liners are HIGHLY subjective. They are a guideline at best. That said, I've used the STS Thermolite Reactor Plus with my 15 degree down bag in temps down to about 5-10 degrees and slept well enough without feeling "cold". Does the liner really add 15-20 degrees of thermal insulation? Probably not. Does it wick moisture, keep my down bag clean, and provide a more comfortable material against my skin than the nylon liner of my down bag....and thus contribute to the sensation of feeling warmer? I'd say yeah.....it does that....and therefore well worth the purchase price.

Nonsense! Up to 14 degrees? From what 13 degrees? Sleeping bag liners keep your bag clean, that’s what they’re for and it’s what they do. Don’t make the mistake of getting your expensive ‘down’ bag dirty, then going out and buying a ‘liner’ to keep it clean. If your sleeping bag isn’t warm enough for the weather conditions, Use two bags! One inside the other. ‘Reactor Liner’ ???
@kd5you16 жыл бұрын
They actually make two versions, this 15 degree and the extreme 25 degree... these liners increase the temperature inside your bag by 15/25 degrees and the take a lot less space in a backpack than a second sleeping bag. If you were backpacking or thru-hiking you wouldn't want to take two sleeping bags.

@@kd5you1 If you use two normal sleeping bags (one inside another), say the both up to 30C, maybe you will get additional 10-15C.

I use it with my 40 degree bag, and I have gotten it down to under 30 degrees, so I would say it works, or at least it did for me.
