This is the best comment thread ever. EVER. This album was chosen to play during a very heavy and emotional, yet uplifting and transformative time during a spiritual retreat. It was primarily for recovering alcoholics. Was invited over 30 years ago by my sponsor, Jimmy. i'm still not at liberty to divulge exactly what happened, but the room would be awash in tears of joy at the end. It was transcendental and it changed our lives. It was so many years ago now, and we've all taken different paths on life's highway ever since. But on the first few notes of the title track by Enya's genius keys, any one of us would stop in our tracks, with lump in throat, and immediately be wisked back +/- 30 years to that most beautifully turning moment in our lives. Thanks for posting, and thanks to each and every commentor for sharing these profound and personal experiences ❤️

"Shepherd Moons" are small moons that orbit in between the layers of Saturn's (or any ringed planet's) rings--they're named so because their gravitational presence keeps the vast ring systems in place. Think about that when you listen to the first track. A tiny, lonely little satellite silently making its way around a beautiful planet, unseen by most, holding the things together.

I've just lost the man who stepped into the role of my father figure 30 years ago. This is the soundtrack of our earliest years together and hearing it now is as painful as it is beautiful. @kcsnow94473 жыл бұрын
Refer him to Phil Collins "Father to Son," which speaks not only of a real-father to his own son...but also of THE father to all his sons, and daughters too. And then challenge him and ask him why he really condemns you he (the pastor) for trying to feel and find the presence of God in other places. HE may not, but that doesn't mean you can't. I applaud you for keeping your open mind and heart both.

Memories that haunt me in a way. It was before the internet. We sent letters back and forth for a few years and then lost contact. 20 years later and Facebook....i found her. There is nothing and no one like Enya, _Sui Generis et Proto Formis._ I first sat and listened to Enya after being thrown out of my parent's house, to which I would return and this would happen one more time. "A Day Without Rain" is my indelible link to those emotional times. I had heard "Orinoco Flow" before, but never listened to a whole album. Enya pioneered multitrack mixing, and established her own style and has never ceased to be creative within it. Not a single song of hers sounds 'tired' or 'churned out' to me - every time I stop to listen I am transported to memories or fantastic imagery built up around particular songs. In a world of pop-culture celebrities, moguls, and also-rans, Enya is among the few who have loyally tended their creative flame and made beauty flower for the world to enjoy.

I'm a metalhead at heart. I listen to some pretty aggressive music. I grew up with Enya in the background in the house. I often return and binge on her music. Her arrangements are amazing. Atmospheric. And not far from some of the black metal I enjoy. Enya rocks!!!

Absolutely priceless. Invaluable. Unmatchable. The way to heaven through this album. Thank you so much my friend, will see you there. They don't make this kind of music anymore.

❤This wonderful soothing music got me through some really depressing times in my life. I found Enya's music to be important in helping me calm down and heal. There is so much NOISE in our modern world and many people ignore it. When we quiet down our minds, we think clearly, we focus on what is important, we learn better, we make better decisions and our mental health improves. We need to disconnect once a day, every day to heal and 'recharge' our battery. The more research they do, the more they prove that when we don't pay attention to the outer noise, our bodies and minds suffer. FIND your own happiness. ❤ If you feel totally helpless: SEEK HELP. ❤

Among all Enya's albums, this one has the most christmas vibes for sure. And the instrumental pieces (Shepherd Moons, No Holly for Miss Quinn, Lothlórien) are the most beautiful ones Enya ever made, in my opinion.

ah yes....the days of tv commercials that advertised music you would never hear on the radio (at least not where i came from) ....the pure moods CD that featured enya, and enigma. but it eventually led to Lorena Mckennit to hit the charts with the Mummers Dance. and let's not forget Sacred Spirit. of course you'd hear these beautiful otherworldly tunes quite often in those new age/world of wonders stores in the mall.... it's a shame we don't have these places anymore. or at least...not where i come from. introspective and ethereal....not to mention inspirational if you were a creative sort. soon after these little music sample boxes would pop up all over the place in walmart and target that would continue the theme with Scottish Moors and Celtic this or that. at that time people couldn't get enough of it. and you felt like you'd found a kindred spirit if you came across someone who liked this music as much as you did. again i say, i wish we could have those times back. everything is on the internet, yes. but that removes the connection with potential friends. and i say this as a hardcore introvert. i may not like crowds and may not be able to socialize for longer than 15 minutes, but i did study psychology and understand the value of good company. Today's "connected" world has done everything BUT that. instead it's only isolated us further. instead of going to the mall or the book store we simply order from home...never coming out of our caves except for our dismal jobs. i miss weekends when everyone went to the theatre to see a movie and then spent the rest of the day browsing books and music. we would be horribly broke by the end of the day, but we didn't care. we had treasures to see us through until the next weekend when we could do it all again. Gad this music is getting to me....
