As a Chelsea fan, Enzo and the rest of the Argentinian National Team was wrong for singing that song after winning Copa America, a competition France has nothing to do with. Yet, the ANT are the ones antagonizing the FNT. The song is racist and transphobic and was made up by Argentinian fans back in 2022. It’s in the French players right to react how they want to this song, especially when it’s one of their club teammates singing it. It’s obvious the song is aimed towards them so why would they not react to it. In the end, it is up to the French Chelsea players to decide how they want to remediate this situation with Enzo. Personally, I don’t believe Enzo is a racist person, else he could’ve easily not apologized and double down on his actions. We can only speculate what went through his mind in that moment. However, he must hold himself accountable for his actions, along with the rest of the Argentinian National Team. He’s being used as a scapegoat when in reality, there are others that also need to held accountable for their actions, yet preferred to stay quiet. I’m personally happy Enzo apologized to the public but I do believe he must also apologize to his teammates if he truly is against the words of that song and discrimination. A conversation is needed within the Chelsea locker room and their individual actions after that will dictate if things are good or not.

Chelsea and Maresca are not really grasping the magnitude of what EF did. Maresca is talking about it as if it's a minor inconvenience that the players can, and should, recover from. If most of the black players unfollowed EF on social media then this wound has already deepened in their minds. Maresca didn't ask for this but it's here and now he must quickly do his research and learn how to properly manage this situation. It will not go away simply because it did not affect him on a personal level. A number of his players are hurt by this, both from a relationship proximity to EF and also the accumulated history of racism that is still being felt today.

I don’t think Enzo is some hard ore racist. He and his teammates did something very stupid and are rightly being condemned for it, but racism is a global issue and its not just white people who can be guilty of it. I’m from London, but of Punjabi/Indian descent and India is well known for being a very racist country, especially people in the north where my family is from who look down on black people, even dark skinned Indians. I don’t want to see him or others banned, but this does need to be used as a teaching moment for all. I really don’t think the Argentinian players saw it like others are viewing it and genuinely did see it as just banter.
