I've seen this many times with Philips 18w fluorescent tubes. The electrode can break even if the tube is good!

Quality of the latest Philips fluorescent lamps is not impressive

@@Meskel_light At least this avoids burning the ballast in an EOL situation

but these last Philips really had a very low quality, they blinked a lot when starting up and lit up dimly even with temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius

@@mrlux0716 It's true. There were defective batches, and by the end the quality was already very poor. Even on the packaging they reduced the life to 13,000 hours instead of 15,000. The best ones were those produced in the Netherlands before 2010. Osram produced in Germany had a 20,000 hour life and really lasted that long or longer. Russian ones are also of lower quality.

@@mrlux0716 Most often new fluorescent lamps have a broken electrode. This practically did not occur in old fluorescent lamps. As an example, I will give a Philips 65W T12 fluorescent lamp that fell onto a concrete floor from a height of 2 meters. It did not break and still works today, even though there are some loose pieces inside.
