As a Korean mother, this is such a deeply touching reunion. However, I still can’t comprehend the idea of sending 6 years old son to a foreign country. No matter what hardship I might face, even if I were to end up homeless, I could never send my child away. Time has passed, and now he understands and embraces her, but my heart aches for the harsh life he endured at such a young age. He thought he was going on a trip when he boarded that plane, not knowing he’d never see his mother again. He’d never be able to meet the friends he used to see or return to the home he grew up in. Thinking about his childhood spent in a completely foreign environment, left to cope on his own, brings tears to my eyes. I can only imagine what went through that little boy’s mind...how much he must have missed his mother. Yet, he grew up so well. That son is truly a gift from above to this mother.
