Producer Debra Hill doesn't get enough credit for her work on the original Halloween...which probably led her to negotiate for so many credits on the sequel. She actually wrote all the girls' dialogue in the first movie and even decorated the sets with stuff from her own house.

In response to @TrippingHawk's post, I would like to clarify that a child actor named Will Sandin played the role of young Michael Myers in the first Halloween movie. However, during the scene where Michael is shown holding a knife, it is actually an adult who stands in for him it was Debra Hill due to California child actor labor laws. Furthermore, there is a common misconception that the character of Michael Myers was played by a single actor throughout the film. In reality, three different adult men were involved in portraying the character. Nick Castle played the masked version of Michael in most scenes, while Tony Moran played him in the unmasking scene towards the movie's end. Finally, Tommy Lee Wallace played Michael when he broke through the closet door. I hope this clears up any confusion!

Apparently Michael’s parents had another child, 2 years after Michael was incarcerated. Both parents died in a car wreck when Laurie was very young. She becomes Ward of the state & is then adopted by the Strodes. Dr Loomis never knew about this because her file was sealed by the court upon her adoption. However, Laurie has a dream or rather begins to remember being at the hospital when her real parents tried to introduce her to Michael. You see this in her dream, flashback sequence. That’s how Michael knew he had a sister. Now, Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, has nothing to do with Michael Myers, you’ll see. Michael Myers returns in Part 4, the return of Michael Myers.

* You're mostly right, but Mrs. Minnie Blankenship was hired by Edith and Peter Donald Myers to babysit Judith, Michael and "Cynthia"(Laurie Strode). Why did Judith need to be babysat? She was 15 at the time after all. I think it's because she had a boyfriend, it was 1963 and...yea. Michael may have only been 6 years old at the time, but he would've still remembered that he had a 2 year old sister named Cynthia. Where was Peter and Edith? Well, they decided to go for some Italian food and see the movie called "The Old Dark House". * Judith would say that she's too old for Halloween, Michael would say that he didn't want the other kids to see his mom or his dad taking him trick or treating, so they made Judith do it, and Cynthia(Laurie) was too young to go trick or treating. After Judith was pronounced "dead on arrival" once the ambulance got her to the Jefferson Cherry Hill hospital Peter started to suspect that Mrs. Blankenship was a witch, and began to investigate her. After 2 years of investigating her, spying on her(which may have included breaking and entering) and even hiring private investigators, it led to him discovering something he probably shouldn't have. * He quickly picked up his wife Edith, and made a B-line straight for the police station, but they didn't quite make it. Peter and Edith were killed in a car "accident" while enroute to the Haddonfield police department. There appeared to be some suspicious circumstances, but ultimately foul play was ruled out. When Michael Myers was turned over to Psychiatrist Dr. Samuel Loomis, he was given drawings, writings, pictures, artwork, etc. that Michael had done from a very early age to very recently. * In them, Dr. Loomis noticed some intriguing peculiarities. Such as, words that didn't seem to make any sense. Words like: Samhain, Enda, Deirdre, Muck Olla "The Boogeyman Lord of the Dead", Mag Ildathach, The Dagda, Tuatha De Danann, Elder Futhark, Thunraz, Thurisaz and Thorn, Lugh of the Long Arm, Crom Cruach, Druidism, Druid Sorcery and witchcraft, curses and Gwynwyll. Depictions showed images of a man clad in dark clothes, but had a white face, or face painted white that was stabbing and killing people. * Each drawing looked like it was depicting a different time period. Even one that looked like it kind of resembled the 19th century. Often he had drawn what appeared to be a big bonfire behind the people he would draw. In some drawings he would label the killer "Enda". In other drawings he labelled him "Muck Olla". However, some of the drawings he was labelled "Boogeyman". Some of the drawings where he was labelled "Enda", he appeared to be struggling with what appeared to be a devil...a demon...or perhaps some sort of humanoid reptilian of some kind that he would label "Muck Olla". * Before the night of the murder, whenever he was asked what any of these drawing were supposed to be depicting by his parents, sister, teachers, classmates, he would always look intensely at the drawing in question, and say in an almost confused tone "I'm not sure........just a dream I had.....I guess." Dr. Loomis spent the next 8 years researching all of this stuff, even interviewing historians and archaeologists who specialize in those types of things including ancient Ireland. He even went so far as to have a hypnotherapist brought in. One that specialized in past-life regression hypnosis. He would put a blank sheet of paper and some crayons on a tv tray in front of Michael, but to no avail. * He concluded that Michael was unhynotizable due to the catatonia he appeared to have. Sometimes Dr. Loomis would call Michael "Enda", just to see what his reaction would be. The first time, he looked at Dr. Loomis, and cocked his head, like a curious dog, but it was short lived, and he never did it again. When he would refer to him as "Muck Olla", he would look at Dr. Loomis, and his eyes appeared to turn to a dark brown, if not, black for a while, but only the first time. * It wasn't long after that, that Dr. Loomis realized that what was hiding behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply....."evil", and he realized that he had to, once again, start building a case to have Michael moved to a maximum security sanitarium before............what. Dr. Loomis even found himself second guessing himself from time to time, but he would think to himself "Maybe there IS something to this reincarnation stuff." In either case, Loomis believed that Michael was a ticking timebomb waiting to go off. * He believed that there was something growing inside of Michael. Call it demons if you will. Whatever it is, it goes beyond science as we understand it, and all we can do is keep him locked up, and study him, for those who believe they can somehow learn anymore about this "thing" inside of him.............

@@AlexKnight009 that’s actually so believable. may I ask, where did you get this information from?
@AlexKnight009
@AlexKnight009 3 ай бұрын
@@shutupnvibe * Some of it is from the original Halloween novel(a lot of it from the prologue). Some from the Halloween comic books(Chaos! Comics mostly), certain clues they drop us in the films(such as Danny's drawings, implying that Michael had similar drawings that would've been handed over to Dr. Loomis), and some of it is taken from a story outline trilogy that I'm proposing to those who own the rights to the Halloween film franchise(Miramax). The working titles so far are: *Halloween:* *The* *Legend* *of* *Enda* also *Halloween:* *The* *Curse* *of* *Muck* *Olla* and *Halloween:* *The* *Lord* *of* *the* *Dead.* * The first one begins on Halloween, 1963 where Donald and Edith Myers are dropping Michael and Cynthia off at Mrs. Minnie Blankenship's house so she can babysit them while they go to a "movie"(come to find out they're actually going to a Cult of Thorn ritual(perhaps, it's one of two versions of the story outline). We cut to a scene where Michael, with a group of kids, trick or treats at his own home, in which Judith answers the door and one of the exchanges are Judith asking what they would do if she doesn't give them any treats, and Michael answers "We'll kill you."(taken straight out of the novel). * We cut to later that evening where the parents are coming home, discussing what needs to be done about Michael growing emotional problems when they see him walk out the front door as they pull up to the house. Once they find Judith, Donald screams at Edith to call an ambulance as he quickly attempts CPR on her. By the time the paramedics get her to the hospital, she is pronounced dead on arrival. As the Donald and Edith begin to break down and cry bitterly, the camera from above begins to slowly pull back, as they begin to caption the opening credits. * After the credits, they would show the outside of a courthouse of some sort. Then cut to the inside of the courtroom, where Michael is being committed to the private Smiths Grove Sanitarium in Kentucky(yes, goin' with the real-life locations this time). We would cut to Dr. Loomis having a meeting with the doctor who's been caring for Michael up to this point, telling about their findings so far, bringing Dr. Loomis up to speed. The next scene would be Dr. Loomis meeting Michael for the first time. They leave Dr. Loomis alone with Michael in his office. Dr. Loomis spends an hour using various methods to attempt to elicit a response, but......nothing. * The next scene would be Dr. Loomis pouring over all of Michael's childhood artwork, drawings, scribbles and paintings, coming across strange "nonsense" words, symbols and odd depictions. He began to suspect ritual abuse, so he interviewed the parents. However, the police had already investigated any possibility of the involvement of their daughter's murder. There would've been a cult presence at the Smiths Grove Sanitarium that were actual descendants of the original druids that bestowed the curse, summoning the demon of Muck Olla, binding him to take permanent possession of his soul, forcing him to reincarnate every 50-100 years(but only along his family's bloodline). * So the cult would be aware of "The Legend of Enda"(Conal Cochran included). This would be why he designed masks that looked like Enda the night he murdered Deirdre. The cult had been tracking Enda's bloodline for over the past 2 millenia. However, the knowledge of this special, ancient, *powerful* curse had long since been lost. When Donald and Edith had begun taking Michael to a psychiatrist in Haddonfield, NJ(yes, this time we're going with the real-life Haddonfield) it was someone who was acquainted with one of the cult members who work at the private "Ridgemont Federal Sanitarium"(in Ridgemont, Pittsburgh) who, in turn, informed Administrator Dr. Eldridge Warren Hoffman(leader of the cult) who, in turn, informs Genetic Engineer and Psychiatrist Administrator Dr. Terence Wynn. * After taking a lot of notes of Michael's drawings, etc, he begins conducting research at certain libraries and archives, and discovers that these are not "nonsense" words. That there's something to this. He begins to consult and interview historians. Even going so far as to consult people who are supposedly "experts" in the "occult". One such expert turns out to be a member of the cult, sent by Wynn, because he sees how much time Loomis is wasting on this, and didn't see the harm of Loomis knowing the tale, if for no other reason, to encourage him to give it a rest before he commits professional suicide. * Knowing the legend of Enda, etc, etc, is a long way off from proving that Michael is permanently possessed by a demon named "Muck Olla". If Loomis starts shooting his mouth off about that, his credibility as a scientist will be utterly destroyed. Wynn has faith that Dr. Loomis has, at least, that much common sense. Dr. Loomis starts a tape recorder with microphone, and gets a notepad and pen on a clipboard ready. This would be where the film fades to a flashback of 522 BC in Ireland at the dawn of the Celtic race(the prologue of the original novel). A lot more could be added to the prologue, and a couple of things changed. * The film would come to an end where they show Enda(still with the white paint on his face) standing in the human-shaped wicker effigy being set on fire, but even as Enda catches on fire, he doesn't move, he merely stands there stairing at the Druid King Gwynwyll with, the blackest eyes.....the devil's eyes. The camera slowly starts to pull back as we slowly begin to fade back to Dr. Loomis' office. Dr. Loomis brings his interview with the "historian"(cult member) to a close, stopping the tape recorder. * The next scene could be the deleted scene from the original film where Dr. Loomis is literally pleading with Wynn's top 2 doctors, and Loomis realizes that nothing can be done about it, other than making sure Michael is always watched, and made sure that he never escapes. This is where the rest of that deleted scene could play out, where Dr. Loomis visits Michael's room and says "You've fooled them........haven't you Michael?.............but not me." As the camera shows Michael, and begins to slowly zoom in on him, eventually zooming in on one of his eyes, which appears to have turned black as we hear his breathing, and we fade to black. The closing credits begin to rise.............🎃

"Is this a joke? I've been trick-or-treated to death tonight." "You don't know what death is!" Fun Fact: Debut feature film as a director for Rick Rosenthal. Gun Enthusiast Fact: The revolver Loomis (Donald Pleasence) gives to Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis), which he took off the Marshall at the end, is a Colt Trooper Mk III. It can be differentiated from the similar Smith & Wesson Model 19 by its grips and cylinder notches. Laurie shoots Michael (Tony Moran) twice in the eyes with it. In reality, it would've blown his head apart. Art Imitates Life Fact: One common criticism is that the hospital is too conveniently dead, even for a night shift, for Michael to be able to walk around unnoticed and kill the hospital staff. Rick Rosenthal said he based this on a personal experience with his wife, where they once attended a hospital late at night and it was completely deserted, save for a few doctors, nurses and patients. Writer's Block Fact: John Carpenter and Debra Hill originally had no interest in making a sequel as they believed the original Halloween (1978) was a standalone movie. Carpenter also felt at the time that the studio hadn't paid him a fair amount of money for writing and directing the original movie, considering that it had been so profitable. When the studio offered him more money to write the script for the sequel, Carpenter accepted the job as well as a producer's credit, so that he could earn back what he believed was his owed pay (he admittedly received a significant back-end salary for Halloween (1978) years later as well). However, due to lack of ideas, the script was not forming out as well as he thought, and he has personally stated that the only thing helping him through the screenplay process was a six-pack of Budweiser every day, which led to what he believes is an inferior script and bad choices in the movie's story.

@punkem733

@@mparantha Half right. He didn't want to make it yes, he had just H78 and that's it. He was forced by the studio to do this one, and he wanted them to green light another movie as of course he needed the studio's backing for the budget so he did it. The anthology things is right also, but what he had in mind was a new spooky movie set on Halloween every single year, movies that are cheap and quick to make. Problem was he called it Halloween and then season of the witch well people were expecting more Myers, when they saw the film for what it was, they stopped going to see it and the shit tanked. He should have never called it halloween, but that was his idea, every year the movie is called halloween, then the new title of the movie. It's why they took so long to make part 4, and the whole marketing behind part 4 was "Tonight he's back!" They wanted everyone to know this has Michael in it. He also was asked to make part 4 he said fuck no, and to get them off his back he wrote a script where michael is in space LOL. There is also another script that was written where Jamie leaves Haddonfield and moves into a Chicago skyscraper apartment but Myers follows here there, kills a rock star in his apartment and actually wears the guy's leather pants, shirt and jacket LMAO!!!

My favorite weird bit of in-universe trivia in this movie is that the kid in the same costume as Michael, who gets turned into a crispy critter by that exploding cop car, is none other that Ben Tramer. If you recall, that's Laurie's crush from the first movie. She's going to be devastated when she finds out that not only were her friends killed by a masked maniac, but that the guy she likes was horribly burned to death by the cops.

Hey! The cutest thing here is in the very beginning with your dog with zebra covers on, moving around on the bed looking like a little zebra 🦓. But anyway, Samhain is pronounced Samwha, and doesn't mean lord of the dead. It's not evil, it's a wiccan holiday on Halloween to honor your ancestors and friends who have passed on.

Debra Hill (died 2005) was quite a producer of films. She was born in Haddonfield, NJ, where the HALLOWEEN characters were based. She did the 4 of the first 5 HALLOWEENS, THE FOG, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK ("Snake Pliskin"), THE DEAD ZONE (Christopher Walken's good treatment of the Stephen King novel), the hilarious murder mystery CLUE and broke into all kinds of films after that. GROSS ANATOMY (rom-com about medical school students), the wonderful THE FISHER KING (Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges), ESCAPE FROM L.A. and she made some attempt to chase Roger Corman's low-budget reputation with a string of 1993-1994 'girl' films - DRAGSTRIP GIRL, GIRLS IN PRISON, REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS, and many others.

In 1977, he is the Soviet deep-agent in Charles Bronson's TELEFON, with Bronson another Soviet agent brought into the USA to kill Pleasence who wants to set off a war. Debra Hill was John Carpenter's then-girlfriend, and co-writer and co-producer. From what I understand, she wrote a lot of the dialogue, and Carpenter wrote the action. Carpenter also did some uncredited directing in this film, adding the gory death scenes to this film, and a bit of editing to quicken the pace. The brother and sister angle was added by Carpenter after, by his own admission, drinking a six pack of beer a day during screenwriting. He later admitted regret over adding that element to the story. I'm waiting with breathless anticipation for your review of Halloween III Season Of The Witch, my favourite film in this series. Two more Jamie Lee Curtis films from the same era you should check out are Terror Train, from 1980, one of the most underrated slashers ever, and 1981's RoadGames, with Stacy Keach, the best Australian thriller ever made. I'm loving Slasher Saturdays, keep it up 👍

My theory: He's obviously possessed: that's what keeps the dead guy animated. He moves slower and slower as he bleeds out. Possessed or not, a body needs blood. Also, I think he enjoyed toying with Laurie because she put up a fight, so he intentionally wasted some time with her. My opinion: Halloween and Halloween II are the best in the franchise. H20 is not necessary but is a great addition. All the others including Halloween III: Season of the Witch--which was intended to spin off an anthology but got shot down by the studio--are all fun in their own right as far as money grabs go. I enjoy them all, including the two Rob Zombie remakes and the three John Carpenter reboots. As far as pure Halloween cannon goes, you've watched them. Mighty fun reactions! Thank you for sharing!

This is my favorite Halloween movie, even moreso than the original. It has much more of a Halloween feel to it, the shadowy cinematography is beautiful, you get more Loomis which is always a good thing, you get more Haddonfield as a backdrop, the hospital setting is haunting and Michael Myers is at his creepiest in this movie. Want a tidbit of trivia that'll blow your mind? Loomis goes on at length about Celtic sacrifices on Samhain, where people were burned alive to appease the Gods. So how did Loomis stop Michael? He burned himself alive. It's easy to imagine that Michael died exactly when Loomis did. Debra Hill was the co-writer and producer for the first and second movie. Very cool lady. Oh, and having seen behind the scenes images of Michael, I can vouch that Loomis not only shot him six times, but also shot him in the heart.

@JL was a treat for you to see this, when you get to the reboot trilogy in 2018 they retcon this film to say only the 1978 Halloween was real. As for why Michael walks slow it was said by others that some authors do it to show it does not matter how fast you run, where you hide, how many doors you lock, the Boogeyman will get you. Look forward to your take on Halloween 4 and the new 3 trilogy. Hope you do not skip Halloween 3 it is a very fun horror flick it is crapped on just because it is a self contained no Michael Myers story. @EOM staff thank you for this and to the amazing patreons.

Then you have H1,Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends is another timeline. H3 isnt connected directly to Michael Myers though they do throw easter eggs to H3 throughout some other Halloween movies. In the H1, H2, H4,H5 and H6 timeline Michael and Laurie are siblings. In the H1,H2, H20 and Resurrection timeline theyre siblings. In the H1, H2018, Kills and Ends ti.eline theyre not siblings. Theres also the rob zombie Halloween movies which are a different universe all together with a different back story to michael except for Michael and Laurie being siblings which they are in that version too. Its a little confusing but pretty easy once you watch them all you'll see.
