The newest Material Duplication Glitches for Tears of the Kingdom 1.2.0 rely on dropping things into the world, and this means you’re unfortunately bound to the world spawn limit on dropping items of around 21… but there is a way around it! With Dispenser storage, you’re able to bypass this limit. To perform this glitch, find a dispenser of your choice. Now, you’ll want to add in some non-zonai items. This is important - zonai items will not work with this as they will transform to zonai capsules.
When you’ve added enough, the door will not close. With the door opened up, lodge something in there so that items will get stuck and cannot spawn. This causes them to get stored. You can use either two fans or a stabilizer for this, or both. As long as something is blocking the door. Now you can duplicate items of your choice beyond the world spawn limit, and jam any overdose into the dispenser for storage! When you’re done, simply remove the structure blocking the entrance and get ready to start grabbing the flow of items, as they will still disappear if you let too many flow in at once without grabbing them!

@@alinkinthechain yeah the game is a mess in that way. There also isn’t really any reason for there to be a light medallion, it has no function. It was just given to you at that point because it would give the arrows the light property. It's commonly believed that when a dungeon is scrapped in a (3D) Zelda game, the concepts are reused for later dungeons in other (3D) Zelda games. It's very possible that the Snowpeak Ruins and City in the Sky are virtually identical to the original Wind and Ice Temples.

There are quite a few noticable development differences still visible within Ocarina of Time, and I do think Ganon's Tower/Castle (w/e you wanna call it) is a very notable part. During early development stage, a player was supposed to use those medallions as a magic item. This function was later relocated to Din's Fire, Farore's WIND (Jup, that's what the "Forest Medallion" did) and the third one I forgot. Using medallions as weapons was copied over from aLttP, where you could get 3 medallions to summon elementals - which killed everything on screen. They also averted having to code 6 types of attacks for each medallion. I would even say at somepoint, they had the two shadow and light medallion being able to change the clock daytime/night, before it was removed 2-3 days later and embedded into the debug menu -and then they returned that as that one song after it was done.

The game truly went through a ton of diffrent development stages and a lot of it has remnants in the final game. There are also programmed damagevalues and drops for three unused arrow types to make them correspond to each of the medallions(In the final game, only 3 exist and they have no relation to the temples and sages, beyond the Light Arrows being given by the 7th sage arbitrarily as part of the plot)

Speaking of which, the third spell, Nayru's Love (which puts up a shield), was originally the effect of the Shadow Medallion's spell (surprisingly not Water, as I was personally expecting at first). The Water Medallion's spell froze enemies in front of Link, the Spirit Medallion turned Link into a fairy like the similar spell in Zelda II, and the Light Medallion stunned undead enemies (like the Sun's song does in the final game)

I like to think that they made the rooms in Ganon's castle first as a way to warm up before making the full scale dungeons, and as themes changed and got scrapped, someone asked if they should redesign the Ganon rooms to better match the completed dungeons and Miyamoto was just like "Listen, it's not worth going back and changing. This is because the wind system was too complicated for the N64 to operate properly and it was hollowed out to what you see in ganons tower. The Medallions were designed during a time in development where the first adult dungeon was the Wind Temple (possibly Palace of Wind), the third was the Ice Temple (possibly Ice Palace), the fifth was the Dark Temple (possibly Temple/Palace of Darkness) with Mido as its sage, and the Temple of Light (possibly Palace of Light) was probably the penultimate dungeon (more on that in a bit). During this time in development, each Medallion was _actually_ a symbol of the corresponding sage bestowing some of their power onto Link as the accompanying text describes them to be. The Medallions were originally equippable magic items. They could be equipped on their own or to the same C as the Bow. Equipping them on their own was the original form of what became Din's Fire (FIre Medallion), Farore's Wind (Wind Medallion), and Nayru's Love (the Dark Medallion cloaked Link in a veil of darkness that made him invisible, visually represented to the player as the Nayru's Love crystal but black) while the other spells were either incorporated in other ways or cut entirely (the Ice Medallion summoned chunks of ice in a wide area around Link, the Spirit Medallion gave the player control of Navi who could be freely maneuvered in the 3D space and when the spell ended Link was moved to Navi's position, and the Light Medallion created a bright flash that stunned all enemies in a wide area around Link including having the effect the Sun's Song has on ReDeads and Gibdos but on all undead enemies). Equipping them to the same C as the Bow was how you got elemental arrows in this early build of the game. Fire, Ice, and Light Arrows are obvious, and while the other elemental arrow types have their effects attached to them in their code that was just left in the game, since there was nothing designed with their use in mind, they just have their own guaranteed drops if used to kill enemies that don't have their own guaranteed drops (like how Light Arrows override the drop tables of enemies killed by them with a 100% Purple Rupee drop). The Wind Arrow and Dark Arrow force a large magic jar and 10-arrow stack drop between them (I forget which does which), and I believe the Spirit Arrow forces a fairy drop.

Wind is usually linked to Grass in some media. Aero in Final Fantasy if that rings any bells. Ice is just frozen Water, so that also checks out. I often see games, when they want a limited palette of elements, use Water for Ice as well, and Wind and Grass/Wood are bunched together. I even saw one put Electricity in with Metal, as technically, we use metal to conduct it.

Water represents the north and winter, and lastly, metal represents the west and autumn.

Honestly, the coolest retcon in the series is in Wind Waker where it is written in that a wind temple DOES exist in hyrule and it is probably retroactively intended that Fado(Aka. girl who laughs at Link because she thinks he's about to get got by the forest's magic) is its sage during this era. And the reason she is gone for most of the adult portion is for the specific purpose of helping to keep the Master Sword powered up in the background. Sadly, they went with an Earth temple instead of an Ice temple and its sage is not implied to be anyone's descendant in particular, so F on that one.

Something that's interesting about the wind and forest temples that is interesting to note is that they ended up going hand in hand in a lot of cases after Ocarina skimmed over the wind aspect. Just a few key examples: In the Wind Waker, while there is a forest dungeon, the people of the forest - The Koroks, descended of the Kokiri - are intrinsically tied to the Wind Temple, and play a major role. It also continues a forest-like motif, making it a Forest-Wind Temple hybrid. In Twilight Princess, the first dungeon is the Forest Temple, which feels exactly like a retread of what the Ocarina of Time Wind Temple could've been. It's largely based around winds, with the Gale Boomerang playing an active role in the solving of wind-based puzzles. It's moreso a Wind Temple in the Forest in that regard - kind of what the Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time seemed like it'd have been. In the Minish Cap (weird deviation to 2D), the first dungeon is once again set in a forest with the Deepwood Shrine, and once again Wind plays a major role - this time in terms of wind generation of your own accord thanks to the Gust Jar. Though since the shrine is played entirely in minish form, it plays around more with some unique things like life-size mushrooms and lilypads, which are also somewhat foresty things.

I'm not sure if it was officially said on an interview or something like that since I kind of remember hearing that, but I don't really remember where it was, maybe in the interview where they talked about "ura zelda". At the end is fascinating how they also reused and completed many scrapped ideas across all the following zelda games, like the city being in the center of the map just like they did with termina in majoras (but interestingly, it was separated in 4 regions just like in tp, so the map was originally 4 times bigger and just left one section to the final game) or use the sword while riding a horse later used in tp, oot really was gonna be really huge in comparison than it ended being, maybe tp or (gameplay wise) botw are the nearest games we have to what ocarina of time was planned to be

And if you wanna say "oh well the tp tot doesnt really use light gimmicks like the light temple was supposed to" no, that was put on the palace of shadow, where you use the light sols to get around and get rid of the shadows Oh hey, remember that pedestal that was unused in oot where it had an ocarina, signaling you to play there for something? All the dungeons bring a certain form of imagery to mind that tells a story. Deku tree: youre being taken out of your innocent childhood life and embarking on an adventure. Dodongo's cavern: youve seen some weird stuff but know its gonna get harder. Jabu Jabu's Belly: makes me feel like we found a gate to paradise. Forest Temple: its an old mansion where a rich family lived and died and were turned into 4 POEs and all the other monsters are their servants. Fire Temple: we have found Hell's Gate. Ice Cavern: feels oddly like theres a ghoat couple somewhere inaccessable to the player are ice skating. Water Temple: Made me think of ancient egypts pyramids, its puzzles felt like something youd expect to find in one. Bottom of the Well: Its a Torture/Interrigation hellhole and all the monsters are the people that didnt survive the torture methods. Shadow Temple: Felt like you woke up in your grave in Hell. Spirit Temple: oddly made me think of arab architecture and the residents are rather brutal to law breakers. Ganons Tower: we just entered Dracula's Castle 💀

The wind temple was going to be DLC for ocarina of time introduced to the game via the N64DD and so was the earth temple and the area behind Jabu-Jabu where you get the iron boots and the serenade of water was supposed to be the ice temple and in the master quest version of OOT it’s even interesting of a place but by the time the N64DD released the N64 was already on it’s way to it’s death bed cuz the GameCube came out so hence these two temple ideas were used in the legend of Zelda WindWaker instead.

This whole comment is a mess, i understand part of what you are saying but i am not sure exactly. There was a planned 64DD expansion for Ocarina of Time, i still have not seen any evidence for exactly what content this expansion would contain, i am not really convinced that the expansion was ever gonna be anything more than the remixed dungeons we got in Master Quest.

@elio7610 no talk about adding in a wind and earth temple specifically with the 64dd expansion, that's for sure. But on tcrf (where most of this video's info is sourced from) There are translated interviews with the devs during and shortly before the conclusion of the development of Ocarina of Time. They were definitely more ambitious about what they wanted to do with the expansion in the beginning, and even after the lack of success of the 64dd they still seened to be holding into the idea of making an expansion for the game with it, or even a sequel. Earky on they also had two teams working parallel on the game one focused on 64 development and the other on 64dd development

The shadow medallion makes even less sense though. The light medallion looks like an absteact depiction lf a flash of light, and spirit looks like two spirits swirling which even fits the theme of dual bosses. But shadow? Maybe it's supposed to be an inverted version of the light medallion but that still doesn't even make sense.

I can see the leaves, especially in the 3DS version, which would be a very similar shape, but the water medallion is ice for sure. It'd be too coincidental for it to use the same design pattern as a snowflake (6 sided) which is then further exaggerated by the 3DS remake and official art to be more crystal-like in appearance. In the N64 version, this is further exaggerated by the Water Trial door being a much lighter shade of blue in Ganon's Castle, being much closer to what is traditionally a color used for ice. There's also the matter of text entries existing within the game for "Wind Medallion" and "Ice Medallion"

@EonAegis
@EonAegis 5 ай бұрын
Evidence 1: Many changes are visible within Ocarina of Time, and the fact that the game has a lot of cut ideas and concepts, some of which made their way into other games. Most notably for this case, a wind temple. Evidence 2: The Ice theme of the medallion lines up well with both the Ice Cavern and the Freezing of Zora's Domain. It makes no sense for the Water Temple to be the source of the freezing, especially when Navi notes the chill is coming from the direction of Zora's Domain. Sheik only offhandedly states it comes from Morpha in the Water Temple at the end of the Ice Cavern. However, unlike the Forest Temple's clearance getting rid of the monsters in the forests and the gorons being returned to the city after you clear the Fire Temple, the Zoras are still stuck. the ice remains magically frozen, and the plotline there just... doesn't conclude. Evidence 3: As stated in the short, another piece of evidence is the inconsistent theming of the dungeons in Ganon's Castle/Tower. Nothing in the Forest section is related to anything in either the build-up or temple itself. The water section is entirely themed around the Ice Cavern, which links back to E2. Final piece of evidence: pre-release footage suggests that the medallions were, at one point, equippable items. While we don't know the nature of these, we do have magic effects that are Ice and Wind themed. The other known ones are light, fire and potentially spirit and shadow could be attributed to the remaining effects. Evidence of this being a thing at one point in time lies in the form of the pathway to the Shadow Temple, which for some unexplained reason has the fire medallion printed on the pedestal you use Din's Fire on. This is reflected within the game's files as text for equippable items exists for the wind medallion, the fire medallion and the ice medallion, tying all this speculation together. Unfortunately, this is a pretty long tangent and doesn't quite fit into a short :')

@@EonAegis Technically, I think the implication is that the ice will melt on its own after Morpha is no longer there to keep it magically intact, it just takes a while. Afterall, it is unfrozen by the time the credits take place. But yeah, in an earlier storydraft we presumably would have gotten an ice temple instead of the Ice cavern and beating it would have likely unfrozen it on the spot. It really would have felt more natural rather than "don't worry about it, lol".

Honestly the medallions in general are an odd and buggy mess. In the original ocarina of time, all you would need to enter in the castle was the spirit medallion, shadow medallion, the hookshoot, bow and light arrows. ...this is because the game only checks the two medallions and does not bother checking the light arrows. The reason why i say only the hookshoot and light arrows are because most of the puzzles can be solved via the master sword shield and some exploits with the hookshot. Light arrows exclusively bring Ganondorf to the ground
@EonAegis
@EonAegis 5 ай бұрын
More specifically, the game checks for Light Arrow Cutscene completion (LACS) If the cutscene is completed, the rainbow bridge can activate. The rainbow bridge itself does not actually check for any medallions. Light Arrow Cutscene only checks Shadow and Spirit Temple medallions, because from a development standpoint this makes sense - the Forest, Fire and Water medallions are checked for Nocturne Cutscene, and are (normally) required to enter the Shadow Temple. This lets Shadow Medallion cover for the other 3 medallions. This is not a bug or oversight, rather a quirk of how the game is designed in spheres rather than strictly linearly and just general programming quirks of the era

I dunno if it has much impact, but I assume memory was still precious enough for N64 that saving on a few flag checks wasn't a bad thing if they didn't anticipate sequence breaks.

While it is infact disappointing to know that the first four medallions "don't actually do anything"(Especially light, since I am fairly sure it is not checked for by literally anything), the only thing that matters in practice is that stuff is sane progressionwise and it actually is, any deviation you could reasonably have is handled correctly.
